- Dandelion Syrup has become a favorite of ours. It is simple to make, and the flavor is excellent! (It may even be my favorite over Maple Syrup!)

I am so intrigued... I have recently made my first dandelion tea from my yard... now, I see this! I think I need a bigger yard or more friends that dont use chemicals... Thank you for sharing - I had no idea!
Let me know what you think if you try it!🥰
You know I love the dandelions and I am going to have to make this!
Thank you!
Yes!!
So going to try this!
I love maple syrup...I definitely need to try this!
Yes you do!!
I’ve never heard of this! Gonna try it this year! We have fried them and they are delicious!!
yes you need to try it!! It is one of our favorites, and actually I prefer this to my maple syrup on pancakes and waffles! Scandalous!!
I knew dandelions were a beneficial plant, bu tI did not know they could be made into a syrup.
Thanks for sharing this recipe, I've saved it to my recipe playlist for future reference.
Good tip about the raw honey.
All the best
Steve
Yes! It is very yummy.😊
Im making this as I watch your video 🌻🐝
Fun!!!
This is amazing. Thank you so much, I don't know how I missed that. Thanks again.
I need to try this before all the dandelions go away!
Yes!!! I need to try and sneak in one more batch yet
Wow. I did not know you could make a syrup out of dandelions. Very great thing to learn.
Its amazing!!
I’ve never tried dandelion syrup before. I have so much to learn from you!
Its delicious! I hope you try it!!
What a neat video!! I’d really like to try to make some, yours looked so good! 😊👏👏👏
It is very very yummy!!
my grandma made this when i was a kid, i almost never got sick, I'll have to try this out next year
Yes!
Very cool. I watched a video a while back and they called it Dandelion Honey. They didn't a honey! I'm gonna have to try this at some point. Thanks for sharing!
Yes the original recipe I found for this uses honey, but I actually prefer it without. I put some in this batch because I couldn't remember which way I liked it better and it is definitely without!
Never even heard of dandelion syrup or anything made from dandelions. Thanks for showing this!
Thanks for sharing this recipe. I've never had this but I will definitely give it a try. You sold it on me! Have a great week, I love honey
Let me know what you think!!!
Im going to try with half white sugar and a monkfruit blend I have.
I was going to make an alternative sweetener jam for a diabetic family member but the syrup seems to be a better alternative.
Ohhh that sounds delicious! Let me know how it turns out!! 🥰
Awesome, God bless!
Thank you for this!
this is incredible i have never heard of this before this year. great stuff.
You should make some!
Wild Ones Homestead I thought about it but there are not enough dandelion blooms. I will try this next spring it looks amazing.
I've never had dandelion syrup but I'm intrigued! I might have to give this a try. And favorite over maple syrup!? Impossible! Haha! Great video!
Its a lot more mild and delicate tasting than my maple syrup, and don't get me wrong I LOVE my maple syrup, but this is just something really special!
@@WildOnesHomestead You've convinced me! I'm going to give it a try!
@@farmingsyrup1575 yay!!! Definitely try it without the honey first!! I like it better that way. Should have just left it out of this batch.🤷♀️ Oh well. Still good.😆
@@WildOnesHomestead Ok! Great! Thank you so much!
Excellent. For some reason, I haven't been getting the notifications for your new videos. I am going to unring and then re-ring the bell. The last video I saw was you and hubby building a coop. I have some catching up to do. We need to trade some honey for some of your maple syrup. :-)
I havent been getting notifications on anything! I have to log onto my computer which is old and super slow to see anything. It's frustrating. 🙄
Beautiful
Mine came out a bit more liquidy..I didn’t add honey. Just lemon and orange. Would you put back in pot and boil to get thicker.
Yes if you would like it to be thicker you can absolutely boil it longer!
insted of thicken by boiling just add more sugar put a dropper of liquid on a plate and it will cool when its like syrup you are done.
Oh interesting idea!
I don't have the opportunity to get fresh dandelions.......could you use dried dandelions?
Hmmm. You know I'm not sure. I've collected dandelion heads and frozen them to make it at a later time, and that has worked fine, but I've never tried it from dried... a lot of the flavor comes from the pollen, so I'd guess it would depend on how it was dried and how much pollen was lost. The only way to find out, though, is to give it a shot! I'd think the worst thing that would happen is that you'd make yourself a simple syrup with the yellow dandelion color but little to no dandelion flavor.
@@WildOnesHomestead Thanks! 💞
very nice video👌👌👌
Thank you!
Google has filled my life with ads. When I die my last image will be a Google billboard.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I definitely have to try this, if I can beat my mare to the dandelions! She nips them off if given the chance. My pasture is always dandelion free.
I've got to share this.
MB BAR RANCH
My pastures are dandelion free too! The horses know what's good.😉
@@WildOnesHomestead yep!
If we can remember this in the spring time, we will try this. But it will have to wait till the honeybees get what they need first. Did you know you can make a salve out of the dandelions too?
Yes! Dandelions are such a useful plant. 😊
@@WildOnesHomestead we are also going to try and make the salve from dandelions next year.
Looks like the same process in making jam besides pectin or baking soda not sure if I want to make syrup like this
I've never made the jam but from what I have seen yes very similar. I think what you make out of your dandelions just depends on how you want to use them. 😊
Can it go on pancakes?
Absolutely! That is what I use it for the most.
Where can I find wild dandelions that haven’t been sprayed with toxic chemicals
I would try in a yard of someone you know and trust if you don't have them on your own property. Even in parks and such it is hard to know if anyone is coming through and spraying 😔
@@WildOnesHomestead true, and sad :( time to start growing them in my yard lol
I tried this recipe and mine turned out green, not a pretty amber color! I was very careful not to get too many of the green parts in the petal water. Any ideas what may have happened? Thanks!
It would almost have to be from having too many green bits in it, I don't know why else it would do that. I make several batches a year and have never had that happen. How did it taste?
Can you use natural sweeteners.
I'm sure you can just remember anything that has a strong taste will likely overpower the taste of the dandelion (which is why I only use honey in some batches, as it ends up mostly tasting like honey) I'm also not sure what the shelf life would be with alternative sweeteners.
I have agave (natural syrup) to mix with it to make it sweet. And how long does this syrup stay preserved. I'm trying to learn stuff like this because we believe that the grocery stores are gonna be harder to come by one day in a few years.
@@meowmeowmilkers3252 I have kept mine in the fridge for over a year easily when I make big batches, but I also test it for BRIX to be sure the sugar levels are high enough for that to work. I'm not very familiar with agave so I have no idea, likely anywhere from a few weeks to a few months.
Can I wash them with vinegar or does that sacrifice flavor?
I dont think I would, I would guess it would ruin the flavor. Most of the recipes I have seen don't even suggest rinsing them first as you will lose a lot of the pollen.
Have you ever had home made sugar cane syrup? Some people call it molasses but cane syrup is not as thick as molasses.
No I have not! I bet it is delicious!
@@WildOnesHomestead , I just sent you an email with a collaboration idea.
@@RandWFarmstead-TonyWalsh got it and replied!😁
Lol I just try boiling it without removing the green part and it taste like soup😂maybe I’ll make minestrone out of it
Oh goodness. Haha
I found out it makes no difference in taking green part out taste the same or even better . My family like the ones with green part better
Well that's very time saving! Haha. I'm too scared to try and ruin a batch. 😬
The green makes it bitter
Yes!
