- A full walk through with recipe on how to make this excellent salve for aches and pains. Good for inflammation and arthritis plus it smells great and leaves your skin super soft.
Instructions:
Half fill a clean jam jar with dandelion petals.
Cover with olive oil and fill to the top and leave for 10 days, invert every now and again to mix. Strain and measure out half a cup of the dandelion oil. Put this into a double boiler over a very low heat and add 10g of bees wax (I used pellets). Once this has dissolved, add in 10g shea butter. Dissolve and remove from the heat.
Add in 12 drops each of lavender essential oil and sweet orange essential oil.
Pour into jars and leave to set before sealing.

Hey there dandelion fans! We are thrilled so many of you are enjoying our video.
We recently made another in the dandelion series, this time - honey alternative

We hope you enjoy this one as much 🥰💚🥰
😅😅😮😊😊
This looks wonderful! I would definitely buy it! I have phantom limb pain from my arm amputation and I also get cramps really bad in my elbow. I've only found the Tiger Balm patches to work so far. I think they are mostly hot peppers 😂
@@shanac5536 hello Shana. Tiger balm is great! I also use it sometimes and also a capsaicin cream which is similar. The dandelion salve doesn't give that burn though so there's no worry about putting on too much or making sure it's totally washed off hands afterwards 😅
Could you use lard instead of shea butter?
@@thelaurens1996 I wouldn't recommend it, no.
As a herbal fairy which has made her own salve for years and learned from her mistakes: please rinse the glass jars with alcohol (vodka will do nicely) to avoid mold building before you fill them with the salve. Another measure against mold: never go into the salve with your fingers. Rather use a spatula made of wood or steel. I have 2 steel spatulas for applying my salve on my skin. Thirdly: deep freeze the salve you do not have in use. That way it holds longer and also is prevented from mold. I would also make an essence with dandelion petals and alcohol since some phytochemicals are only oil soluble whereas others are only water soluble. Mixing them both into a salve makes it more holistic since you have all phytochemicals of the plant represented. Thank you for this nice receipe. I will definitely make my own version. Love to always learn from other herbal fairies. Please stay safe and take care. Warm greetings from a very cold and rainy Germany where I currently cant collect any herbs since they are much to wet.
Great tips there Stephanie, thank you. I hadn't thought about using alcohol in the mix. I do sterilise my jars (although I may have forgotten to mention that in the video - I had no idea it was going to be this popular!)
Greetings from a soggy England! 💚
Great bit of advice! Here in the State of Oregon and now I can add this to a great foraging add on. Thanks!
Steph.... I asked Rose some questions and thought maybe you'd see this comment 1st.
She says to steep dandies for 9 days. Others have said 6 weeks and another said all winter.
Rose only used the yellow bits. Others used the whole dandy.
You seem to be very experienced... what do you do?
Also... essential oils are pain relievers themselves. How do you know dandys reduce pain in itself?
@@destinycoach5 6 weeks it optimal. Any shorter duration of time is usually aided with a low heat source to speed things up. As for the greens it comes down to personal preference.
Essential oil are volatile oils. Many are not safe unless heavily diluted. I'd be trying dandelion salve for my aches before I'd put essential oils on my skin. Remedies that have been around for thousands of years. It may work for you, it may not. And when she mentions " a bit off" there is a chance of mold because of the water content in the plant. They should actually be left to dry to a day or 2 or antibacterial/antimicrobial things added to aid. Example, tea tree or black poplar sap.
@@hdmm9136 thanks so much for the info. So I should keep the mixture for 6 weeks not two?
I use essential oils. They help with pain a great deal. They limber up stiff joints. Why do you call them volatile? (Aside from fact that they can be dangerous if you don't use properly. I had a bad experience when I started.
I made a just a small dandelion jar since 99.9% of dandelions had turned to white before I saw this but I didn't let them dry. I did collect some seeds to grow some and try making salve with fresh healthy dandelion as opposed to the small left overs i found once all had headed b4 i got to them.
Do you use whole head or just the yellow bits? Should they dry?
So I'd like to know more about what you said regarding some petals in oil and some in alcohol then mixing. Tks again
Doesn’t she have a lovely soothing voice? She could read me the phone book as a bedtime story and I would be a happy napper.
Aww Marilyn that's so sweet of you to say, thank you! 😊
Several months ago, I had a dream in which my grandfather presented me with a jar of dandelions in oil and he told me to use them for the arthritis pain I was experiencing. When I saw this video, it validated my dream. I had no idea that dandelions could be a pain reliever!
Wow, that's amazing Lee 😍
Awesome
I m Not believing Dandeluons Help with pain BUT I Shall Give the recipe a shot and get back
Granny! It work though?
Because of your comment I will make this and see if this helps the arthritis in my hands. They became very inflamed after Covid a little over a year ago. Thank you.
For your mom, you might add cayenne powder. Just a touch is good for arthritis. Reassessed
Research it ice heard it can help in small amount for that size probably a half a teaspoon. And make sure she uses gloves when applying it so she doesn't get it in her eyes. Thank you for teaching us. I'm definitely going to make some for me and my daughter and a friend who deals with pain issues. Keep up the good work. Have a blessed day.
I just made my second batch. My first batch was year ago and I used fresh dandelions. It is still going strong. I am making this batch for my parents birthdays. Thank you so much for this recipe!!!!
That's awesome. It makes a great gift, that's very thoughtful of you 🥰
Hi so i finally got round to making my salve. I only had half a cup of oil, so i put 5g each od bee wax pellets and shae butter, and 5 each of the oils. Mine turned out great! The oil and flower mix smelled funny after 2 weeks. I added some vit E to preserve it...... But after adding some Cedar Leaves and a dollop of Vapo-rub to my ointment recipe, It smells better!!
4 part oils, 1 part beeswax from some old candles, a spoon of coconut oil, heat until melted, and jar! Im so proud of myself. 🙃
I just made my first batch of dandelion salve With mango butter, I added lavender essential oil and raven essential oils from my Young Living Business. Thank you so much for showing me how to prepare and make this this dandelion salve I have arthritis, fibromyalgia, and chronic back pain I use frankincense from my Young Living Business in a diffuser, and it helps me sleep every night from my pain and discomfort for having fibromyalgia, I wanted to try to make this dandelion salve to see if it can help with my lower back pain. I have also used the dandelions to make a really nice dandelions tea. It is amazing once again thank you so much for sharing. Peace and love Syvella .
Hello Syvella thank you for your comment. Fibromyalgia is so painful, I hope this helps you as much as it helps me..
The tea is a great idea too 🥰
Lower back issues, rub your lymphatic system toward your heart, stretch everyday, drink water. Use food vitamins, vitamin d3k2, Magnesium glycinate, and fish oil everyday this process has changed my body. I was told to take extra b vitamins so i take "Vitamin Code Raw B complex" but not the full amount. Of course you do what your body needs. I was outa wack, doctors said I was getting old to live with it. I said God you know what I need lead me to it and Wala no more pain. Glory to the Lord. He answers those who seek him.
yes indeed I love it natural wild flowers in use for our health and enjoyment of our Lords provision for us all.he did create every herb, bark, root, leaf, flowers. for our great health on this part of heaven. I am 65 years old and always appreciate you who promote wonderful living in natural ways. keep up the good job.
Thank you Jason. Lovely to hear from you 💚
I eat dandelion leaves and occasionally the flowers with my lunch.Free veggies!
Perfect 💚
Living in China the last twenty years, you know spring is here when you the older people are out on any peice of grass with a knife and bag pulling them out. The roots are good but bitter, delicious dipped in some fermented salty bean paste, the leaves eaten the same way, or dried and used as a tea for antiinflammatory, but the Flowers never used. The locals get curious when I'm picking the flower for dandelion wine. It's funny to think there are places in the West that you can get fined for having too many dandelions on your lawn, when in fact it is such a useful resource.
Excellent in a rue . Add bacon bits and a few drops of vineger. Delicious. Add your dandelion leaves . Smaller leaves are tender n tasty . Full of vitamins
Thank you so much, I have made your recipe!!!! I left mine 14 days and with almond oil, came out the most gorgeous yellow. I have a lack of collagen so my joints are very sore. I have tried on my feet and ankles, it works wonders. Truly thank you for this wonderful balm.

Going to try this, just realised the many health benefits of using dandelion thank you
Consider making Cheyenne salve it gives gentle heat, the person put Peppermint, Lavender and Clove oils at the completion all analgesics comforts. I started out with olive oil shake everyday for 6 weeks. Strain bee wax and essential oils last. Enjoy its wonderful.
@@loriew9486 thank you I will try this
Something I found out when making lip balm (similar process, melt together equal parts of beeswax, shea/cocoa butter and coconut oil, add essential oils or others) is that, if they took too long to cool down and solidify, the texture would become a bit granular. Since I noticed it, I let them cool down outside or in the fridge, that way the texture is nice and even.
A great tip, thank you 🥰
I know the intention is to only use the petals. But if a little bit of the green goes in, is that a problem?
@@7cjaceves Idk, you might want to ask as a top-level comment though
Thank you I will try this since I am in pain 24/7. I can't take much medication for it. If it works it would be a game changer for me.

I made this over the summer and it is awesome to have. I shared some with my friends to try. We all agreed that it works. Thanks so much for this video.

I'm so pleased this helps you. My mum loves it and so do I 💚
My Lower Back would love this.. LOL
My great-great grandfather would make wine out of the dandelions, so I am told! Thank you for this easy, helpful recipe. I can't wait till it stops raining so I can pick & dry some dandelions for my own salve. Thanks & love from New York!
Dandelion wine is on my list if I can find enough dandelions that I wouldn't be stripping the place!
I hope get a break in the rain soon. Morning is the best time to pick 💚❤️💚
I made 2 cups worth...its on my counter drying right now. I only had lavender oil for scent. I love that its easy to do.
Thank you for the video.

Made it Brenda 😍
Thanks so much for vid! Just watched vid on how too make dandelion Jelly, which l'm giddy to try. Being middle age, suffering from severe, bone twisting types of arthritis, due to yrs of so called "dr's medications", l can appreciate & prefer "Natural" remedies.
l collect my petals, as the sun is setting, when the flowers that were opened that day, begin to close. When collecting, grab end of petals & give gentle tug. lf it's ready, petals will easily come out of flower head, without seed &/or pod, leaving seeds to naturally re-seed. lf not using immediately, l'll dehydrate. 0r, I leave them overnight, in a warm dry area, (warm oven), on a sheet pan, or some type of container that let's me spread them out.
Thanks again!
That's a great way to collect them. Dandelions are a wonderful natural remedy and resource 💚
Thank you for watching
My dandelion petals have been rendering for almost a week and I will be purifying some beeswax over the weekend! So excited! My first attempt at an all natural pain remedy. The mineral fluoride occurs naturally in earth and is released from rocks into the soil, water, and air. All water contains some fluoride. Usually, the fluoride level in water is not enough to prevent tooth decay; however, some groundwater and natural springs can have naturally high levels of fluoride.

Also, I keep sniffing the back of my hand 😂x
