I think you missed the crucial point, and there are some inaccuracies in the video. The crucial point was, that the crew planned to land on RWY 10, which they had done a briefing. Because of recommandation of the ATC (which was situated in Tromsø in main land Norway, but the crew thought it was in LYR) they changed to RWY 28, which they now had to improvise. Another point is, that the main center line of RWY 28 leads directly through Operfjellet, so any plane landing there has to fly through Adventdalen and has to intercept the main center line over Adventfjorden after passing Operfjellet. The crew wasn't aware of it and tried to intercept the main center line much earlier. There was an overcast, so the crew had no view of the mountainious terrain except for the last seconds of the flight. The crash didn't occur on the flank of Operfjellet, but at the edge of the summit plateau and the flank. The front part of the aircraft came to rest on top of Operfjellet, the back on the flank, were it immiately was washed down by an avalanche. According to your information, the crash occurred due to the so-called "improvisation" of the crew. But they landed using Jeppesen charts, which provided for such an approach. The crew had difficulties with understanding English, but this wasn't the main reason of the accident. They had Jeppesen and they didn't have to come up with anything. All that had to be done was to execute the algorithm correctly in a stressful situation. On the other hand, it's hard not to note that landing on the other side would be much safer. In addition to this, it should be added that there is also a different widespread opinion of one of the possible causes of the incident. After the disaster Russian representatives accused the Norwegians of hiding the fact that landing on lane 10 was prohibited due to the fact that it was used by a certain Norwegian VIP flight. And therefore Russian Tu-154 was sent on a more difficult route. But, as I said earlier, nothing is said about it in the official report. And, to be honest I wouldn't like to mislead the viewer by accepting a point of view that is not reflected in this document.

Now I am engaged in the reconstruction of two plane crashes - one happened in Spain and the other in Russia. There is still a lot of work to do, but I took note of the VASP 168. I will definitely animate it.
