So I have been doing translucent powder before applying my foundation for years. No flashback issues. I use way less foundation and my skin has a flawless look all day. The trick (for me) has been using a fine powder that is close to my skin tone. Absolutely not something white... Unless that's your tone 😉. I promise you, if you can find the right tone for the powder, this hack is well worth it. 👍🏽👍🏽

I agree I use a translucent powder that’s closer to my skin tone and it comes out beautifully. Perfect tip for oily skin.
I tried this when I went to Jamaica a few weeks ago. My makeup never smeared or ran down my face lol. It worked!

Frann T lol man when I don't wear my contacts this is a problem. i just don't wear a lot of makeup those days 😂😂😂 otherwise its a mess
I don't wear glasses, but my friends that do tend to set there nose area where the pads would sit a little more than everywhere else and it works for them.
I've even tried baking for 10+ mins and using eyeshadow base around that area before foundation and nothing works 😭

I’ve been doing this for awhile and it definitely helps to minimize pores and controls oil throughout the day. Which leaves me with a flawless application for hours.

I use this technique all the time, but I use the a powder that fits my skin color, try that and see if it works better in pictures

I use the Laura Mercier translucent powder or Maybelline shine free powder before applying my foundation. It works wonders and doesn't give flashback or a white cast

4aCurlie I put the same amount as if I'm going to bake. I press it in tho with a beauty blender tho. Before applying the foundation. I get really oily throughout the day and that's the only thing that helps me

This is an old school hack I learned from a model several years ago. Works wonders on oily skin. Wouldn’t recommend on dry skin. Loved the video and your makeup is flawless!
See I’m not sure if my skin is oily or dry cause when I touch it, it feels moist, but I tried this, and it looked really bad so that means my skin is dry? Someone please help! I’ve been trying to get flawless make up I’m just not good at it cause I’ve never really used it before.

I really thought that everybody was doing this already that's how I apply my makeup I could truly say I'm not as detailed as you are but it really pays when you are more detail doing your makeup cuz I guess it really shows off everything but I'm happy somebody came out and said the secret I mean I thought everybody was already doing it but I love your video keep up the good work.

any translucent powder with silica will cause flashback! Usually the ones that are purely white like that will have silica, so make sure to check the ingredients when you purchase translucent powders

The powder won't flash back when the foundation is over it...and velvitizer is supposed to be added to foundation to change consistency.

The Coty Airspun powder is a great and affordable powder I myself use before applying on my foundation. You can get it at Walmart for $5 🙌🏻

bronzed beauty yes I use the Make Up For Ever Step 1 Skin Equalizer Base Mattifying Primer and I let it sit for about a minute then I move on to my powder and my makeup routine.
Maybe a different powder won't give you flashback

Anna Baker buy talc free baby powder. Solved. Most don't have talc anymore anyway.
Also, unless you're slathering pure talc that naturally contains asbestos all over your lady parts, the chances are pretty damn low of developing any sort of ovarian cancer (which is the only one it's *very* loosely linked to.)

ive been using this technique for a long time! i use laura mercier brightening translucent powder but i dont use alot. i get some on my fluffy brush and buff it into my face then i get my NARS luminous weightless foundation and buff it in and BAM! FLAWLESS!

Same effect u get from spraying setting spray on before your foundation ....ultimately the key to flawless make up is good skin once u get past knowing how to apply it and what works for you
chi chichi for flawless you need full coverage aswell as skincare as medium and light coverage won't do a thing for flawless bases unless you have perfect airbrushed skin with zero imperfections which will never happen no matter how hard you try as everyone's face has imperfections and always will
Aaron Walker what I meant by "flawless" is not having any raised blemishes or scabs ...things like large pores and dents in skin can be filled in and concealed with good primers and moisturizers
chi chichi make up can't erase raised blemishes it can only correct redness and as someone with terrible raised breakouts who uses all high end luxury brands no amount of make up can change that fact unless you use a photo editor to smooth out the skin for flawless none raised blemishes you need a acne skin care routine not make up as no make up can erase texture or bumps and all these beauty gurus use filters when filming their videos which is a proven fact

ItsMyRayeRaye Try coty airspun, sacha, or black opal in neutral light. I never get flashback and my skin is OILY.
I use this technique whenever I wear makeup, to avoid the white cast, I brush off the excess powder that didn’t absorb. Plus the translucent powder I use is like peachy color.
Translucent powder is colorless, thats setting powder, but i think its supposed to work with setting powder too so

I dont think the flashback was from the translucent powder. Heres why: Because in the photo, your WHOLE face had flashback, and in places where you didnt even apply the translucent powder.
If it was from the powder, you would have received flashback only in areas of your face where the powder was applied. It could be from another product, sometimes setting sprays can also give flashback in pictures & photography.

Even tho she applied the powder in certain areas, blending it with the liquid caused it to transfer. Using normal foundation on TOP of the translucent powder before applying foundation minimizes the white face. I learned that from a drag queen. 😉
Missy Smith what do you mean? She didn’t mix any powder in with the foundation she said that it recommended she did that but she didn’t. All she did was put the powder on her face and then put foundation over it. I also don’t think it was the powered that caused the flashback because her forehead was not white at all and she put a good amount of power on her forehead. That’s just my observation. Maybe I misunderstood your comment.

I have dry skin, and I tried this the day after a hydrating mask. It worked well! No creases and lasted all day. Worth a try...even w/ dry skin.

Fara Finnigan so! Her skin is flawless now. She used to have horrible chemical burns from trying a product and they're now gone, filter or not.
I think the flashback is due to that powder. When I do this with my Laura Mercier Medium Deep powder or my Fiona Stiles Amalfi powder it doesn't give me any flashback. And I don't get cake face with either of those. I also don't bake with it. I just press the powder into my skin so that it disappears with a sponge and foundation goes over it with no problem.
