actually aerodynamic modifications actually save ALOT of fuel, for example..A semi truck uses more then 50% of its fuel just on trying to defeat air resistance
My thought exactly. You’re gonna hear that actuator clicking and stripping after the first good snow storm when that dam thing freezes up. 😂. Extra money for extra garbage that nobody asked for!
Until its middle transfer case breaks and front differential other things on it will to if its a 90ies model then their brake lines rot out and the doors mess up but its all fixable though
I doubt the fuel savings would ever cover the initial expense of the feature and definitely won’t make up for the repair cost if/when it fails or gets damaged. Just one more reason why full size trucks now average $75k.
Had a fleet of 2021's with this feature. They were constantly a problem. They get hung up on the stationary air damn when they retract. Most of them were taken off and thrown in the dumpster. Ford updated this part, maybe they are better now.
On my 2013 I cut and bolted on a strip of discarded rubber conveyor belt just behind factory dam and skirts both sides. Wasn’t noticeable when you looked at the truck. It worked and lasted at least to 2018 when sold. All mods got me 15% over EPA even at 68 mph average.
Hell yeah! First week of owning it took that air dam and chin spoiler off lol wayyyy better look don’t care much about mpgs but even then I didn’t notice a difference without it
@@christopheriruegas1848the best thing about the tremor is that it DOESNT have this feature. It doesn’t really affect MPG and it gives you way less front clearance

This vehicle was factory produced by Henry Ford back in 1925.
My 2022 Ram 1500 has the exact same feature…… real innovative huh? Oh, and mine still works, which is surprising that an electronic feature actually works on a Ram!!
Most people take it of for better ground clearance. Some people had em get caught up and decided to take em off. Mine got caught up with the front stationary one and I decided to keep it and have it adjusted. All good 👍
Great more Electronics to go bad when the truck is 20 years old LOL it's a cool feature but it'll fail. My 94 Lincoln Mark 8 was on air ride and at highway speeds it would lower itself real low to the ground to cut through the wind better pretty cool
Yeah but how long dose it take to see good enough fuel economy to save up for the price of that feature for the truck sounds pretty useless to me. Plus just an extra thing to brake

Great more shit to fix later that’s gonna cost you way more than any gas you would’ve saved. Ever since 2009. I have completely given up on Ford. Just what we need that little actuator throwing trouble codes so you can’t pass an emissions test.
@pathunter7003 not necessarily useless unless you give it a ridiculously 8inch high lift with rubber band tires, I myself will just lift it 2 to 4 inches(im a short 5'8 so no need for a 6)with a BDS lift kit so it's functional and practical.
My F-150 has a feature that I wasn’t expecting it burns oil. Bought 2018 F-150 brand new , has been burning oil ever since adding 4/6 quarts per month. A Ford better idea!
Hit a baby deer. He cracked my grill and all of those shutter slats dangled from 165k to 219k when I traded it for a 2023. Was never an issue. Mighta been different if they were stuck shut. So i think installing a grille guard like the ranchhand for example makes you lose this function, if i understand the install instructions correctly. Now all i want is a way to disable the honking if i get out with the key in the truck
I’m going to have to unplug mine or remove it, because when it rains I can feel it hitting some standing water and causing some drag and my front end being unstable.

Saved us $7 in fuel last year. Cost $237 to fix. Ford tough
lol. I have a 2021 and I didnt know this, for $237 repair I would just keep it up position. or get manual actuator (string, rope, or lever) lol
I was thinking the same thing 😂
Yes, that’s called the law of diminishing returns. 😂

The extra fat one on my 96 i6 only wobbles when it need a new zip tie, no lights 😊
More worthless bells and whistles that only drive up the purchase price. Ford needs to retire half their engineering crew.
I take that shit off, you drive into deep snow and you won't back out.
Good day, I like the Ford Xlt and Toyota Hilux. Do you think the Hilux with freeze in cold too?
Give me back my Transmission dipstick, metal oil and transmission pans, and cable parking brake!

Shit iv got my 93 f150 and it hangs with the rest..prices of new trucks is just insane..you pay more and get less
Glad everyone in the comment is unanimous about this. Just more electrical equipment to repair.
The innovators at Ford created something additional to break, and lower your ground clearance…..awesome!!👍🏻😆
They all have large air dams now, not many are motorized
They look great when removed
Did similar with 1" drop + 12" cab extension fairing on 2013 F150 coyote. Was able to get 22.6 mpg round trip Houston->San Antonio->Houston.
My Raptor is designed to channel and float on a huge cushion of air. It also helps the approach angle.

Body tech here, I’ve replaced dozens of these things.
Mine broke off after winter ice chunk, 2021 limited. Fuel economy didn't change one bit. Useless fluff you don't need
Yeah. That's why none of us can afford a new truck.
Get a better job, everything is getting more expensive. Even used cars “old school and reliable” are getting more expensive
So if your truck gets towed on a flat bed, make sure the wrecker doesn't damage it when they pull it on with the winch. FYI
I got ready to type, ‘there’s another replacement part to have to buy in the future’, but I see I’ve already made this point
Yeah, the other power feature you forgot to mention is, 0 fucking power. Hell Yeah! FORD TOUGH!!!!!
Took mine off & trimmed the front dam off about 4” 👍🏻

Wonder on those newer fords does the manual guide book match the fuse box covers and it showing the same exact stuff

Yup, Ram had it first and it’s the first thing people take off 😝
Not really handy in the upper Midwest where snow gets stuck there. 😮

The air damn on mine kept getting stuck and broken. It’s a common issue on them. Trash feature that I had to remove from the truck.
