  • This is an awesome Budget On-Board Air Compressor modification that ‪@OXFOOT‬ recommended I do to my rig. It was a fairly affordable install compared to the other on-board air options. It is super nice to have this installed for multiple other purposes other than airing up or down but obviously airing up and down is typically best when offroading. Check out the install!

    we have this exact mod with the smittybilt and C4. It is so hand and we took the connectors and routed them around the front of the engine bay to the battery for easy hook up and disconnect. Might eventually make just a breaker relay to be easier.

    Looks dope man. I need to get myself a diff breather...Idk how I still don't have one.

      Yeah I just had to break down and do it. I was not looking forward to running the tube. Just sounded awful. Now after laying under the car for hours on end installing rock lights it really wasn't too bad.

    Zach. Absolutely an excellent install for an on board compressor. I'm also going to go with a dual battery system. Thanks for a great video. Ed from Knoxville TN

    We actually ran the compressor in the other direction cause it put the power switch next to the fender so you're not reaching over everything, and the hose doesn't have to be look back from the engine bay area.

    • @OverlandEngineer
      @OverlandEngineer  2 года назад +1

      I have it ran to my switch pros so I can control it from my seat or my phone so I just always leave it on. Orientation probably does not matter but I thought I might have to really bend the hose and then I couldn't really put the diff breather where I wanted to.

      I've had mine in for a while and it's been fine. I did pinch the line pretty bad but thats more-so me airing up and a pretty weird angle. Once I replace that hose it should be fine.

    I'd take some of that gasket maker or some shrink wrap & wrap that bolt where you have the hose ziptied to it. All the bouncing around even a little bit Might wear a hole in the hose.
    Looks good though.

    Quick question, Did you just wire the positive and negative that clamp to your battery originally straight to your switch pro? You don’t need to do anything with the wiring for the switch on the compressor? Or I am assuming you maybe just leave the switch in the on position on the compressor and then once you hit the switch on the switch pro it then sends power to the compressor?

    • @OverlandEngineer
      @OverlandEngineer  2 года назад +1

      Exactly. I just leave it turned on and then wired it to one of the high output switch pros ports

      @@OverlandEngineer awesome thanks so much! I have an auxbeam switch panel which can just barely handle the amps of the same smitty built I have so I am going to add in a secondary relay for the compressor and they the relay to the switch panel is what I read.

    • @OverlandEngineer
      @OverlandEngineer  2 года назад +1

      @@danielwojtaszek2094 Yeah that is smart. I have read that it can draw up to 45 amps. So a relay is smart with the Auxbeam setup. I have read though that auxbeams have 30 amp max for 1-2 and 20 Amps for 3-8. You can't run them all at the same time but I think if you are under those limits you should not need a relay. At least that is what I have seen.

  • @godlike0630
    @godlike0630 2 года назад +1

    How did you wire this to your switch panel?.did you have to run a separate relay and just wore the ignition part of the relay to the switch panel?.

    • @OverlandEngineer
      @OverlandEngineer  2 года назад

      Thats what I should have done. The switch pros never tripped but a relay would be the best way to do it. I think the current draw is 35-40 Amps so its technically too large for a single higher output port on the switch pros.

    Does the compressor heat up underneath the hood when not in use?

    • @OverlandEngineer
      @OverlandEngineer  2 года назад

      Yeah some but it hasn’t hurt anything. Just the sticker fell off because it warmed the adhesive and made it loose.
