  • This machine retails for $700, the extended 3-year warantee is another $100. Add a battery backup, and carbon air filters for the drum, and with tax, over $900. Yes, that's a lot of money, but really what is the alternative? The Leo's Loo Too? I have one of those also and it's very difficult to say which one wins, but they are remarkably similar, but the Leo costs less, and has a smarter drum sifting design. Regardless I'm very happy with both machines, and my 3 cats seem to love them too. They were all kittens and didn't want to spend the next 18ish years scooping so this solves that problem.

      That is so stinking adorable!! Just set ours up yesterday after work and it seems both of my cats are using it! While getting ready for work, I got an alert the cleaning cycle was interrupted, so I walk out to see my furry cat (we have a Sphynx, too) with his paws on the entry, watching it. I had to shoo him away twice! He also tried jumping on top of it when we first set it up. My son and I were standing right there watching him and burst into hysterics when he tried and failed not so elegantly.

    I just bought the LR4 because my LR3 stopped working (I think power surge). I gave the 3 to my sister because she thinks she can fix it. It also has a back up battery I bought for it but didn't install.
    I got the back up battery for LR4 (will install) and extra bags, carbon filters and odor traps. This thing is super quiet. I don't use the sleep mode during the night.

    My Sphynx cat is set in her ways. She will ever only use her litter box (we have 2; one for each cat) even if hers is full. My other furry cat doesn’t care as he’s too dumb to even realize which one is his 😂. She will also dig to Middle Earth when going potty and will then spend about 5 minutes trying to cover it, all while kicking half of the litter out of the box. It’s kept clean, but she has her ways.
    I was fed up with the constant litter on the floor and the smell of the litter box. When she uses it, you know it! Female cats can have a very strong odor when they pee, and when I’m on my computer, I get it full force. We even have her box in a cupboard that hides it, and although it does help with a lot of the litter kickback, there’s still tons of litter outside the box, too. I tried fining alternatives but they were too costly or wouldn’t work for her.
    I found the Litter Robot 4 and said to myself there’s no way in hell I’m spending that much on a litter box. However, seeing the 90 day return, I was like OK let’s give it a try, and we’ll see how it goes. I was able to get it same day delivery from PetSmart (with 20% cash back from using the Rakuten link) and set it up where the Sphynx cat’s litter box was. I even added a couple scoops from her used (but cleaned) litter box to help her identify it.
    I haven’t actually seen her go in there, but I’ve been tracking it on the app (another bonus!) and I can tell which cat is going in there based on weight. She weighs significantly more than the other one (even with no fur) so it’s easy to spot her weight and when she enters. All this to say the process was seamless!! We didn’t even have to change the type of litter we use. Both cats are using it, I can finally get rid of the 2 litter boxes, and I couldn’t smell a thing when I was getting ready for work this morning. I can normally smell it if I’m in the living room. The cleaning cycle is so quiet and I’m in love. I probably will end up purchasing the shield for the entry way as another preventative measure to the litter kicking, but wanted to make sure she was comfortable using it before I did that. I also don’t know if she’s going to be digging as much since this thing does such an amazing job at cleaning the litter. She may not have to!

I didn’t get the bundle as I got it from PetSmart and Rakuten had a 20% cash back offer for online orders. Mine was $699 +tax. So I’ll get about $140 back. Just set it up yesterday and there’s literally no smell. Both of my cats are using it, which means I can get rid of the 2 litter boxes we have (which are spaced far apart as they should be). I’m happy and am kicking myself for not getting this sooner.

      The backup battery that gets installed inside so that it runs when the power goes off, that was about $40 or something. I also bought extra filters that go into that area oh, and I bought enough for about two years because I'm not going to get rid of the machine, so why not stock up? I also got the extended warranty for 1 or 3 years whatever it was and yes it comes to about $814 with everything so I rounded up to 900 because it might as well be that much by the time you buy bags, and I do not buy theirs! Just buy a box of 200 of 13-gallon kitchen bags. Yes they are too long but it's significantly cheaper than anything else I've been able to find and I swap them out about every 5 days and then downstairs I have a Leo's Loo Too Machine

    FLINGS THINGS OUT
    My LR4 flings things out as it cycles. This has happened multiple times - - where I've found an incident or literally watched it happen. Its not my cat pushing things out, but the lr sending something flying as it is cycling. There needs to be an update asap that makes the clean cycle run slower.
    Anyone else have this issue? I've tried with the guard. Without the guard. Even tilting the robot back a bit.

      That's when you know to give your cat probiotics. It's the same stuff that you buy for humans which says probiotic on and it's probably $38 a box and look for the preservation level of billions per capsule. Just got those delectable things that are that smelly paste that cats love in mix 1 entire capsule cut open and stirred into this tiny amount of food and their poop doesn't stink anymore until that goes off balance. And if your cat is one that likes to venture outside then keep them on a regular formula but for any indoor cat always look for the reduced calorie weight maintenance formula no matter how young they are after 1 year old. That's because it benefits them significantly because it has psyllium mucoid in it too which is the same bulking fiber as Metamucil for humans. Just in typing this just made a probiotic treat for all three of them.

      I hated the Litter Robot. I can't believe how many ppl think its the best out there. I had the 3, sent it back, then the 4, thinking it was improved, for just under three months before returning it. It was messy, causing litter to spread all over my basement. It was harder to maintain that thing than to just clean up poop the old way. My cat often tried to pull out turds while watching it roll in the drum bc there no door. He'd even pull some out. Since switching to the Snowy Pet around Christmas, I've had minimal tracking. I haven't needed to vacuum since getting it, and my cat can't see the turns rolling in the drum bc it has a curtain and is 90° from the entrance. Cleanup is extremely quick, taking only about 10 seconds. It's the best design out there. Litter Robot just had better marketing.

    • @GregRex101
      @GregRex101  Год назад +1

      There are some core fundamental problems with the design of this device but I figured out how to get rid of all of them because they aren't as smart as they think they are at litter robot. I've actually had several conversations with their development staff, and they just don't seem to get it because I'm talking to a coder and not somebody can see it through the process like an analyst can do. Basically make sure always to take a single Q-tip and wipe the sensors off gently. Also always clean the drama at least every couple of months with resolve urine Eliminator. You spray it on and wait 5 minutes and then take a hose and spray it out and then let it dry completely or wipe it down completely. Jetta vacuum and suck everything out every two months that falls where it's not supposed to be. Also the Bonnet is defective, but it also impacts performance so I quite literally put an entire strip of black electrical tape around the entire thing from below the clips of the Bonnet from one side to the opposite side. This company really doesn't care because their marketing something the changes your life if you have a cat have a cat not to mention three of them. Downstairs, I have a "Leo's Loo Too", they don't have to compare almost identical to the litter-robot because it performs better in some aspects than it does, but the worst feature on that machine is that the box below is so shallow but you constantly have to pull it out and Shake It

    what’s the best litter for these? or best clumping litter?

    • @GregRex101
      @GregRex101  Год назад +3

      I think hitting the mats it's too hard of a contrast from the soft litter, and I have researched the hell out of every brand on the market, but it must be hard clumping litter so for a while I started with boxiecat which is a little over a dollar a pound. It works great and it's Unique because it's three types of clay, plus probiotics to digest the beginning of the compost cycle. The absolute best to use in this machine is Arm & Hammer Platinum Clump & Seal for multiple cats. There is one nearly identical to it called Clump & Seal multiple cats oh, and the only difference between the two is that the Platinum has 10% more odor elimination whatever that is supposed to mean. I even downloaded the safety data sheets so I could understand the ingredients of every litter brand out there and platinum Clump & Seal is the best. The reason that I got away from the boxiecat is because it leaves a dust ring that's gray inside of the entire drum and also overtime it's more solid so it's scrapes and it makes the surface less smooth. The Platinum literally doesn't stick to anything, but always set your machine to a delay of 30 minutes so it has time to really clump, and even with three cats 30 minutes is really nothing even if all three of them use it it resets to the 30 minutes again after the third one, then it's completely Clemson solid and it dumps cleanly into the bucket. And do not buy the bags from litter robot is a complete waste of money! Instead, buy a box of 200 of 13-gallon tall kitchen bags because they fit perfectly into the same space. Despite that is double the plastic that you need it cost a fraction of the bags they try to sell you from litter robot

Start taking the litter out of the place they normally go and only leave the option for the litter robot and even throw some catnip into the box. They love this thing & I'm sorry that you have cats with problems. There was no way in hell I was going to scoop 4 times every day for the next 18 years. This works for now like magic.
      If a cat is not even able to step up, It's certainly not going to have any quality of life this is miniscule bowl for a cat to enter or exit. The entire bedroom in my room is built out in a vertical space with stairs and shelves for them. Are you going to tell me that that's bad too?

    • @EllyHensens62
      @EllyHensens62 Год назад

      @@GregRex101 Sorry, scooping out a litterbox 4 times a day?? Why on earth would that be necessary?? Twice a day is enough. My cat had severe arthritis, he had medication for it. His life was still very good, he ate and drank normally, even played with the others, just going up in things was getting difficult. Therefore I had steps at my bed and at the couch. Very normal things to do for a pet. Your cats use that machine because they have no choice. They still need to go, so they use it, but try giving them a choice, then they won't anymore. And besides, the way you wrote that you where definitely not going to scoop out litterboxes for the next 18 years makes me really wonder how much you love your cats if you are not even willing to do that for them. I am 60 years old, have three cats and do the litterbox twice a day, with love.
      My cats do not have a regular litterbox btw, I bought a dripping tray for a washingmachine, 70x70x10cm. Best thing I ever did, they had, at that point, the choice of using a normal litterbox, and the dripping tray. They never even used the normal litterbox again. But you must do what you think is best for your cats, so should every catlover, and I chose this 😉
      Don't forget lots of things are made for cat owners, not so much the cat itself. Like wet food for instance, you can buy wet food with vegetables in it. Humans buy it, it looks good, but, a cat can't digest vegetables, it does nothing for them, it goes on one end and straight out the other, undigested. But they still sell it and people still buy it 🙂
      And stairs and shelves are good, cats love it, but when they get older they often get arthritis, that is a fact, and climbing will become more difficult. The climbing is not the only reason I did not like such a machine, it is the small enclosed space aswell. Cats love places like that for sleeping, but not when they need to pee or poo.

      @@EllyHensens62 I get what you 're saying and totally understand where your coming from but honestly love your projecting right now. It's just like what women do to other women when they become mothers. You can tell he LOVES his cats who'd build their whole bedroom around providing an enriching and stimulating environment if they didn't. Come on now that's very unfair to say. Most cats love having a private space like this they can do their business in. They also benefit from being off the ground so it wouldn't surprise me if given the choice they'd CHOOSE this over a standard box. I'm so sorry your cat children are struggling with arthritis that's a horrible illness for cats in particular. But you made your choice for your babies based on the factors you consider. He made his based on factors he considered. Not everyone has the time to scoop litter boxes twice a day and if you're pregnant you're recommended not to. It's identical to telling all parents "get rid the diaper genies guys if you love your babies you will change that stinky diaper with love bask in the aroma". No, in the words of Jackson Galaxy, there are WAY too many homeless cats out there to let something like litter boxes be what we worry about. Some things are made for cat owners with no consideration for cats I totally agree, it's why I hand make their cat food, but not all things are only for our benefit. You to assume that my health is perfect because it is not. I'm terminal and need a way that the cats can at least have everything they need for four days including a clean litter box every time they go, that also includes automatic feeders and a gallon of water recirculating on each floor.
      You are also making a huge mistake by making their own food because it's not going to have the right nutritional profile in it because you're cooking with human food and these are cats so you really need to rethink your defective logic
