  • Why is it hard to understand the Chinese ATC...?
There are a few reasons why it can be hard to understand Chinese air traffic controllers.
Accent: Chinese air traffic controllers often have a strong accent, which can make it difficult for non-native speakers to understand them.
Pronunciation: Chinese has a number of sounds that are not found in English, which can also make it difficult for non-native speakers to understand.
Vocabulary: Chinese air traffic controllers use a lot of specialized vocabulary that is not commonly used in English. This can also make it difficult for non-native speakers to understand.
Speed: Chinese air traffic controllers often speak very quickly, which can make it difficult for non-native speakers to keep up.
In addition to these factors, there is also the fact that English is not the primary language of air traffic control in China. This means that Chinese air traffic controllers may not be as familiar with English as air traffic controllers in other countries.
As a result of these factors, it is important for pilots who are flying to or from China to be familiar with the Chinese language and the specialized vocabulary used in air traffic control. They should also be prepared for the possibility that they may not be able to understand everything that the Chinese air traffic controller says.

ATC in China is quite a wild experience - they communicate in Chinese. On top of that, you fly in meters, and they don't waste any time reporting any mistakes. Any question outside the standard phraseology is in vain. It gets worse with the altitudes they assign, often instructing to approach very low without apparent reasons. Shortening the approach is not routine, among other things... Congratulations on successfully navigating through all of this, Captain.

Im not sure if Mexican ATC is like this but i know they speak Spanish unless requested otherwise

And i seriously doubt Chinese ATCA adopt speaking English and using imperial measurements ever.
In fact i see them influencing other countries to speak their native tounge and convert to using metric measurements just like in the Cold War days

Hi Captain Boeing - and FO! Always nice to see my Captain in charge of the Queen!💕💕 Excellent departure with a nice view as well. I didn't think the ATC was too difficult to understand - yes, a little foreign, but was able to follow his instruction. Using really good head phones does make the communication much clearer to hear and understand -- plus, I love hearing the gear retracting! 😉😉With all your experience flying all over the world, I'm sure you get all types of accents and have to get used to all the 'local' lingo wherever you go. Kudos to you and your crew for all the work involved in flying the Queen to so many different places. Bless you and keep you safe out/up there! Cheers my good friend! 💕✈✈💕

Great take off, looked like a very long runway as you guys go along it. Probably glad to get out there after listening to the atc directions lol

A very fine takeoff Captain. Hoping your stay in China was a pleasant one. At times I had no problems understanding ATC while other times it was difficult to understand, possibly due to the accent in their voice and they can have a tendency to talk fast as well. However, I'm sure you're a pro at this by now.

You are even leaning forward in an attempt to better understand the ATC :) I found it really hard to understand, particularly the hundreds of feet of the climb-to-altitude clearances. :O

Outside of the natural vernacular accent, they are mostly understandable, otherwise flights would be crashing every other hour. You can hear the vernacular accent showing up on videos that show airlines flying Mexico and other South American countries, or even in India.

Hey,all runways in China are long.
As pax on MU diverted to Rhizao, south of Qingdao and runway is 12000 ft.
Found accent reasonable but have worked in that area for a long time
    Safe travels.

    • @DropBear69

4X-1CA is the operator's registration number for the aircraft. If you Google the reg No. you will find lots of info about the aircraft, including its history, previous flight itinerary, etc.

Why did the pilot unclip the seatbelt with :30 after takeoff. I guess turbulence isn’t an issue on his flights. He is the last person I’d want bumping his head on my flight! So dumb

    • @nankervisj
      @nankervisj 11 месяцев назад +1

Flight crew are able to unfasten their seatbelts at their discretion once they are safely established in the climb, and if required they will then inform the cabin crew when it is safe for them to also leave their seats and move around the cabin. The 10,000ft rule is usually only applied for passengers. If the weather was choppy enough to be unsafe the crew would leave their seatbelts on.
