Piloting a 777 into China is a job for a professional crew. You made it look easy. Your videos are perfectly done, I love your format.
Thank you very much! I really appreciate 🙏
Always wandering how foreign pilots manage to descend on to metric flight levels in China, and now I finally see how you guys professionally read back, cross check and set the correct ATC instructed FLs. I’m a 737 pilot in China and we have our converting table replacing the checklist on our yokes in my company, and we have a whole altitude change SOP to cope with the threat induced by this metric fight level system. Good to see you guys manage this threat with good cockpit communications.
Thanks for your positive words! 🙏 Yes that's an identified threat for us as you mentioned it and we take very care not to comit any mistake of any kind regarding that!! Good to see that pilots around the world enjoy watching my vids ☺️ hope you enjoyed French culture and people!!

It's good to hear that mate, Wish you every safe flight
First time I'm watching one of your videos! Great job! One thing I really enjoy is watching the video all the way to the gate. You get to see what the airport is like and also other interesting airlines/aircraft etc. Please consider extending your videos all the way to the gate if possible (you can edit out when on hold). I would really enjoy seeing it, thanks for your consideration!
Professional, dedicated, and enjoyable!
Welcome to Shanghai by using metre which is represented by the international prototype kept in France.
I love the graphics of your flight status! Keep them coming, it is a great orientation reference.
Thanks a lot 😊 SFO next week!
wow, landing PVG,my hometown and the airport that I visited the most!Well down pilot!Enjoy your time in Shanghai!
Thanks a lot ☺️
Another beautiful approach and smooth landing!❤✈️
Thank you so much 🙏😊
I'm going to binge watching your entire video collection. And with all the charts and labels it really helped alot. And the angle of the video, the perspective, the resolution, everything is among the best. Thank you guys!
That's very kind of you 🙏 thank you very much 😊
Love watching aviation videos and yours are my favorite! Your editing is excellent and I appreciate all the little details. Keep up the good work, your friends from Philadelphia!
Many thanks for your encouraging comment!! 👍
Those triple sevens are so awesome ! Hopefully I can ride one soon - Thanks fellas ! Nice job !

Fantastic job to crew and ATC. Solid flying and communicating, boys!
Thank you 😊
I am from here so I love your videos! I also want to become an airline pilot like you in the future! Keep up the amazing work!
Bonjour mis Amigos, another epic approach and great job on the editing. Greetings from North Carolina, USA.

Bravo 😊
Merci beaucoup 🙏
That is absolutely fascinating to see! I always wondered what radio communication is like, especially in China. Now I finally know, thanks to you. Keep it up!
Thanks for your kind message 🙏
Great Airport Pudong, I worked at that airport for to install new radio communication system (ATC) many years ago (34L and 34L was not yet build).
Hey, I always wanted to be a pilot but I had problems with awareness of colors. I am so jealous of you guys real pilots. The communication is effective. I saw the tbumb up right after the confirmation from the approach guy. Professional work, beautiful sights, make my day better. btw, I am a pilot for JF-17 in DCS world now. I am still happy for that.😂
Thanks to you! DCS is very cool 😉 I played it too for a while!
So glad the world is back to normal, we all can fly again! Hope the world can be more peaceful place, people around the world can enjoy food and culture in other countries. #NoMoreWar
Love your videos. Only comment would be to “leave on the screen longer” some of your initial comments (airport info, etc).
Thanks for your comment!🙏
Superb

as a student pilot, I can learn much from your video. At the same time, I am also a Shanghainese and glad to enjoy the view of Shanghai in the air !

The international unit of height and length is "meter", not "feet". Not to mention China now, most countries in Europe are unifying into the unit of "meter", so I think the unit of "foot" will disappear in the future, but it will take a long time.
There’s a beautiful approach which flys directly over the famous LUJIAZUI area. Any chance of making a video of that approach sometime?
Merci ! Oui j'ai mis du temps à m'y mettre mais la 4K c'est le top 👍😉
Awesome
Thank you 🙏
Great video.... but this time-flashes, especially on short finals...
Thanks 🙏
salut
nice shanghai
Well done, Sir. Very accurate landing on the correct runway, wondering how you targeted the right lane from the very beginning, as the distance to left lane seems to be less than 500m, probably a shaking fingers on the joystick can cause this mistake.
Thanks a lot! We have a bunch of instruments which helps us to meet with the accuracy required! LNAV guidance mode and ILS localizer are part of them!
Looking forward to Air France flying to Taiwan(TPE/RCTP) again
Air France ❤❤❤❤
😉
Flown in and out of PVG hundreds of times. I love flying the 777-200 but the 777-300 ER is a pilots airplane. Too bad I had to retire
Great video as always!
I hate to ask, but is that fog or smog?
Thanks 🙏 I would say that's fog 😉
@@INZEAIR84 Indeed! 😆
Patrick LFPO✈️✈️👍👍😉😉
Thanks for the video. Always wondered how the conversion between english and metric goes entering chinese airspace. Another question why is there a car that says follow me as you’re approaching apron in almost all airport in China? Seems not common in another country.
That’s FOLLOW ME car which directs aircrafts to their parking bays
It was my routine until the Covid 19 hopefully company can call us back to work soon … from an European airlines Shanghai base crew 😢
Hope you'll get back soon to work!
Nice video. Have you done Paris to Boston?
Thanks 🙏 yes but no video of the approach!
Maybe you could do that someday?
Yes if I come back to Boston I'll try to do it 😉
Hi , I am new to aviation & wanted to ask a question. With runway excursioons happening. Has there ever been a serious discussion to widening runways as a safety measure. As most airlines proudly state "The safety of our passengers is paramount etc etc" How wide is a standard runway ?
I think they are 60 meters wide in Shanghai. Larger aircraft require wider runways than smaller aircraft but normally runways are a little bit wider than they need to be.
@@kickedinthecalfbyacow7549 Thanks very much. I suppose that is the airports responsibility not the airlines & i imagine widening runways is not cheap. I have heard that most, if not all, american airlines don't use A380's be cause of the cost of adjusting the gates at the airport to the A380's larger size & the same of the taxi ways as well. Always comes down to $$$. True story abou the cow ?
Was just curious are those Ray-bans you're wearing and what model?
As I recall, it's Ray Ban Caravan with thick silver frame
The international unit of height and length is "meter", not "feet". Not to mention China now, most countries in Europe are unifying into the unit of "meter", so I think the unit of "foot" will disappear in the future, but it will take a long time.
I flew into Pu dong in 21015 on my way to and from Canada to Australia. That is one huge airport. I remember trying out their tasty "American Breakfast" while waiting. It was a hard boiled egg, a Weiner of some type of meat and a yellow vegetable. I paid them 20.00 USD and threw it in the garbage - yummy memories.
😅 thanks for your message!
In the year of 21015 the price for your breakfast ...$ 20 bucks you could only suck Shanghai air.
6:15 Speed as published
"Expedite descent, expedite, expedite.... reduce speed"
Bonjour. What cameras used int this video?
is that lil uzi vert behind the atc
On the airport plate the runway showed 3800 G 60, what is that, length? Grade?
Yes, it means the runway has a total "Grooved" length of 3800m and is 60m width!
the ATC can switch between English and Mandarin within 1 second
Yes. In China the pilots and air traffic controllers have the option to use either English or Chinese.
ICOA languages : English, French, Spanish, Arabic, Russian, Chinese
I always wander how the pilots and the tower understand each other without any mistakes. Of course they speak their language with all the special terminologies, but there are accents too. I speak Chinese, but sometimes I find it very difficult to fully understand what the Chinese pilots are talking to the Shanghai tower.
Its ok to skip flap 15 and go from flap 5 to flap 20 during landing?
Yes, we usually skip from 5 to 20! 15 is an intermediate config which allow us sometime to keep more drag on the descent path without using landing gear or speedbrakes!
Nice flying, nice landing. Such bad air pollution in Shanghai. 😂
Thanks! Yes you're right pollution is very visible 😕
At least China is using the correct SI units... Thanks for the video!
Just curious, why are the ATC controllers speaking Mandarin on the radio? Do they use it as their own aviation language for local flights?
True, and this is normal! The primary aviation language world widely used is English but, French, Spanish, Chinese, Arabic are also aviation language that can be used! It's established in ICAO rules and regulations.
@@INZEAIR84 Russian as well, right?
Yes you're right absolutely, since 1971!
How many flights per month do you do ?
Btw 3 and 5, depends of the duration of the trip!
6:15 there is speed as published not established:)
True 😉👍
True 😉👍
PVG
Your English is much better than the ATC.😊
Thx 😅
Well, to be fair at 6:15 the ATC said «speed as published» which was wrongly transcribed as «speed established» and makes no sense in that context.
But anyways, English isn’t the first language to the vast majority of people in the world, and different linguistic backgrounds may favour some tongues over others when it comes to learning it.
At the end of the day the most important thing is to be understood.
Yes, you're right! 👍 My mistake! 🙏
I heard Chinese language while ATC contact with pilots, how come?
English is the common language in ICAO but people are also allowed to speak French, Spanish, Arabic, Russian and Chinese!
Which CAROUSEL is my luggage at?
😂
Can anyone explain for me what Vref means? Tkssss so much
The approach speed for the selected flap
Need ILS because of the smog ?
No, we always use ILS when available!
两拐
Why the runway is numbered with 16, 17, 34, 35, not just 1, 2, 3, 4?
The number of the runway indicates the first two number of the closest magnetic heading of the runway, ie 250degree-> rwy25 (plus L(left) or C(center) or R(right), 70degree-> rwy07.
@@Henryyyyx thanks!

that smog is aweful
😬😬😬
Anybody else notice this?
4:27 (controller) -- reduce speed 180 kt
4:58 (crew) -- set airspeed 200 kts
5:00 (controller) cleared to land runway 34r
5:00 (crew) -- speed 200 kt
5:37 (crew) -- speed 180
5:50 (crew) -- about to intercept localizer [published speed 180]
A small deviation, but still ... is this an accepted practice?
That's our speed reducing sequence procedure. 180kt needs flaps 5 configuration, we never set a speed on the MCP below the actual minimum maneuvering speed so as we're reducing we configure the aircraft in flaps 1 then flaps 5 etc and we set the speed accordingly with the minimum maneuvering speed. In this example minimum manoeuvring speed in flaps 1 was 194kt that's why captain set 200kt at first and once in flaps 5 he set 180kt and speed was decreasing all the way to 180kt.
Thank you for a thorough (and quick!) explanation.
I hate my job
I always find it fascinating that pilots can understand the most garbled, heavily accented English irrespective of the country or airport. If I were in the cockpit, I'd probably respond with "Okay, Tower, I can't understand a fucking thing you're saying. Send me text." 🤣
Those information on airlane type, weight etc should displayed at least 6 to 8 seconds allowing viewers to read , there were lots of time until science of view😂😱👎👎👎👎👀
Air France is one airline Ii would never fly.
