2023 Stockli Montero AX - First Impression

Well, Stockli Skis does it again. They have successfully come out with a banger of a new series! The AX is not for the faint hearted like the AR, however it feels more like a traditional Stockli used to back in the day. Strong, stout, stable and extremely powerful. We would say the AX feels like a longer radius than the new AR, even though Stockli claims it is not. As you can see in the short clip above, Riley is having the force the initiation and release of turns at slower speeds. Once you get them up to speed you can snap the turns quicker.
We would say if you're looking for a real tail, longer radius and smooth transitioning ski, check the AX out, if you're looking for a livelier, snappier little more playful shorter radius ski, get the AR. Stay tuned for a more in depth review about the two skis.
