This was INCREDIBLE !! !!
I’ve used model magic before but am on a project that needs more finesse. Your work is INCREDIBLE and gives me hope again that I can use it too!
Thank you for showing us the process. Someday we will try this for sure!
I sculpt with it using water to just push it around more, I do all my carving after its dried completely. I paint and detail and then coat in epoxy for a hard shell in case a piece gets dropped. It helps a lot.
This is so incredibly cool! I want to do this with my son, and get those creative juices flowing, love this!
I hope you do! It's fun stuff!
Thank you! I came in wanting to learn how to use model magic for a Day of the Dead mask and I am leaving with not only the knowledge of how I can do that but also your video has inspired other ideas I can use with it and that paint and paper towel trick! Thank you for making this video! Subscribed and excited to see other videos!
This is perfect for my budget. I have two ghouls in mind I am dying to make, thank you so much!!!!!!
Oh wow! I’m so glad I found your channel! This turned out great!!! 🎃
Incredible work! Great information! Thank you for sharing!
Glad you enjoyed it!
I was just about to ask my father to buy it yeah I'm definitely going to ask him to buy it
Thanks for sharing your process!
Hope you picked up some new tricks!
Awesome video Jasper! Always love your work and your characters, they are so fun! And great technique, thanks for sharing! Cheers🎃👻👍
Thank you! I really enjoyed going back to my roots on this one. It's satisfying to be able to sculpt something fast and cheap, and have a finished piece without molding and casting.
I also make masks from cardboard, i liked your style, i subscribe.
This is so awesome
Cannot wait to try making some heads this weekend.
Let me know how it goes!
@@jasperjanderson the process of building Ghouls went quite well for a first time. I'll send some photos when the whole prop is operational.
Justin Ponzi excellent! Can’t wait to see
Great video, as always.
Thanks!
Yes amazing video it's very helpful I couldn't think of what to make out of it.
Hope to see what you make with it now!
Thanks again.
AWESOME THANK YOU!!!
THATS SO COOL LIKE IK I WANNA TRY IT NOW
I hope you do!
Any ideas how to make cheap fast severed arms and leg props?
Everytime I hear the words Crayola model magic i immediately think of christian weston chandler
Great demo❣️👍
Thanks!
You're so welcome. I enjoyed the idea of the painted cloth.
thanks for showing us process, i have a homework i s for this
I know Jeana already commented but just wanted to say thanks for another great video. He kind of looked like a tusken raider around 7:00 min mark lol. Around how long start to finish does it take you to bang one of these bad boys out Jasper? Always enjoy your videos 👍👍👍
Haha, I always wanted to make a Tusken Raider! Should have stopped there! It probably takes 2-3 days with drying time, and less if you make a few at once. So glad you guys liked it!
Stick to your own channel! Don't you have your own props to film! Just kidding. You guys should do a collab. He does not even have 1000 subscribers! I love both of your channels. So I don't comment too many times on your video. Great work Jasper.
Question, would it be possible to add Aleene's Tacky white glue to the Crayola clay to make it a little bit more flexible and still sandable? The reason I am asking is that I work with cosplay wearable helmets and I thought that building a substructure of strong card stock or cardboard and then coating it with thin sheets of the Crayola clay so that I could sand smooth and or sculpt details on the surface. I have sen this done with fiberglass and bondo but it is very toxic to do indoors in the winter.
The Model Magic clay is not really sandable to begin with, and it's not very strong on its own. Definitely not a substitute for fiberglass and bondo, but I'd be curious to see what happens if you mix in the tacky glue.
WTH, went to site to learn what to do with MM clay, but he's so dang gorgeous, I can't concentrate🤣🤣 Seriously, what talent - amazing and tips so helpful! If ya don't have plaster bandages, would plaster of paris work better with the paper towels?
Haha! I wouldn’t recommend paper towels and plaster of Paris for this. Of the versions I’ve tried, the mask with a newspaper paper mache under layer is my favorite, and very easy to do.
How on earth did you weld model magic? I have so many cracks in my sculpture
I don't think it's possible to weld it 100% and it always gets cracks, but it's all about considering how it will dry out. Sometimes you can sort of plan your blobs of clay so that the cracks will be in inconspicuous places, too.
Amazing work! Would mod podge work to seal model magic?
It's worth a try!
@@jasperjanderson it’s for a high steaks piece due a year from now but I wanna do the work ASAP and worry it won’t last till then
@@kristibunny1620 gotta try it to find out!
Does it stay squishy or does it harden? I’ve had mine drying for over a week and I can still squish it
Eventually it will harden. I typically will do the paper towel coats while it's still fairly soft, and it still hardens over time.
You should try to recreate the Ezra popup ghost head in The Haunted Mansion aswell
That would be fun!
Could u make masks like this or is it not practical. .I gota figure out where I can buy this stuff so I can sculpt some monsters.love the eyes and teeth awesome
You totally could. I've got another video on how I do masks that are kind of similar to this technique. ruclips.net/video/CwjBxShw4TY/видео.html
@@jasperjanderson I seen those. I shoulda known it was your vidio.dnt know y I spaced it there those masks were awsome they looked great. Anyone would b lucky to have one..don't know y I DNT connect the two
Thanks for leaving this comment! I was looking to see if someone had a similar question that I did
Where did you get the cool shirt
spooky reviews & DIYS Chris Raimo is the artist. He does some great Halloween shirts
Is there any good ways to waterproof it
This method is fairly water resistant, but I wouldn’t get it wet on purpose. Sealing it as well as you can with a clear coat like the polycrylic does a pretty good job.
Is there a way to make in not a brack able so it can flex more like with thin parts bc when imake thin parts it brakes easily is there a way to make in not do that ?
That’s one of the downsides of this material.
Where do you get the clay you have?
Most craft stores seem to sell it.
@@jasperjanderson Thanks, I'll find it.
I have sculpted amazing things with this clay. I have sculpted the Beetlejuice snake, sand-worm and many cool man eating plants. Wish I could share pics..., but have some tips for you. Before you lay down clay, cover foam with Mod Podge to give it an adherent surface. If you have an email, I will send pics
That's very interesting! My email is chickenhaunt at gmail.com
The emails are sent. Let me know what you think
jasperjanderson it’s under pastorkennag
How did you know what my ex looks like???
