so delightful and elegant results ...I have a carload of sheets of polystyrene that I was about to drop off at the dump ... regretful that I had no use for it, so now I take it back out from my car and keep it. thanx for a beautiful video, surely subscribed!
Thank you so much Claire. You are an inspiration. If only I lived in the UK, I would be at your lessons. I really enjoy learning about free motion machine embroidery. I think I just might be able to do this (with lots of practice!!!!).
I love all your videos, Claire, but this is a really good one, especially if you don't want to, or can't afford, to get an embroidery machine. The butterfly is beautiful. I've had a go a few times since seeing this.. I come back to your tutorials again and again. The machine looks great too. 🤗
Thank you so much for this - have been sat getting very frustrated by wasting time on other useless videos and yours was perfect!!! 🤩 🫶 Quick question, if I may 😊 I have Brother 380D, and only 5 or so automatic embroidery patterns are marked for being ok for water soluble stabilser… the majority of the rest look pretty much chunky enough around the edges and fillings etc to be able to be held together enough -would they work and it’s just Brother being overly cautious? 🤭 Anyway, having watched your video, I now see that the world is my oyster! 😁 Thanks tons from a Brit who’s been living in France for so many years, that it was warming to hear your accent, as the majority of my crowd are French 😂❤
I really enjoyed watching your unique way of making shaped piece for use in any type of shape. Your limits are as limited as your imagine.. I’ve rediscovered my an accent piece. Your use of the term “ Water solvent youryyg:"" stabilizer was
Hi, I found this site to try to choose my next sewing machine but these tutorials are fabulous! I’ve tried free motion, I thought I was clumsy but now I’ve seen you I KNOW I’m rubbish! I’m itching to try again though. Thank you so much for this.ps roughly what size is the flower and/or hoop?
Don't say things like that, Look at you work as a little more rustic or organic. I dint think that's a bad thing. There are some more videos on my channel : ruclips.net/channel/UC1v-pVQyO7l0v80c73pc6Cw. The patter was about 7.5cm (3") diameter and the hoop was 15cm (6") diameter
Hi Rod, you can write words on soluble fabric, just make sure they all join up. I would pin the piece to polystyrene before washing the soluble away, that way the words won't get tangled up. Iron them when dry
On the Sept 18th 2018 video on embroidery of a flower what is the name of the material you used. I didn't think you mentioned what it was so we know what to use. Thanks
I like to leave some of the residue from the soluble fabric in my work to keep it stiff. Washing will remove it completely and the flowers will be floppy so it depends how you want to use them
Maderia threads cost a fortune....and the colour runs even in tepid water?? So wjatever you emnroider ,like little.girls.dresses needs.to be wasjed ed in coldwafer? That sounds wrong.
Hi, I think Maderia threads are great value and a superb thread. In the video I explained that I had used a piece of James Hare embroidered silk fabric in petals that I had embroidered with Madeira thread. It was the threads in the embroidered silk that ran in tepid water. The James Hare silk was not designed to be put in tepid water. Madeira threads don't run. I'm sorry if that wasn't clear in the video
Thank you for the most helpful video I’ve seen on this topic - a precise and gifted instructor. I’m subscribing (22.07.23) 👏🏻👍🏻

I am trying to find instructions to free machine embroider words onto water soluble fabric please
Hi Rod, you can write words on soluble fabric, just make sure they all join up. I would pin the piece to polystyrene before washing the soluble away, that way the words won't get tangled up. Iron them when dry
Stupid question I am sure but I’m new to this. Are you sewing onto the wrong or right side of the fabric?
Hi Marcelle, not a stupid question at all. Soluble fabric doesn't have a right or wrong side.
Does the needle and machine get sticky
LInd😊!!
On the Sept 18th 2018 video on embroidery of a flower what is the name of the material you used. I didn't think you mentioned what it was so we know what to use. Thanks
It was Avalon Plus which is the same as Solufleece or Aquasol
Ps...are they machine washable (if I were to attach to clothing?)?
I like to leave some of the residue from the soluble fabric in my work to keep it stiff. Washing will remove it completely and the flowers will be floppy so it depends how you want to use them
Do you use the same thread in the bobbin or do you use general polyester thread?
Yes same thread in the Bobbin :)
Frank Nutt Sewing Machines thank you 😊😍
What brand of embroidery threads do you recommend for the F420?
I love Madeira rayon threads and their metallic ones too.
Bonjour cher dame je parle que le francais
C'est bon, ravi d'avoir de vos nouvelles
That looks like.a pain to do
What machine you’re using?
BROTHER F420
