WONDERFUL INSTRUCTOR! I was always taught "NEVER USE THICK THREAD IN BOBBIN!". You have made a new chapter for me to take the challenge to the table of my sewing friends. Thanks! Bruce
I keep coming back to this video, and that machine. You are such a good tutor Claire, and I love all the techniques you show us how to do, in a non scary way!
I haven't yet ventured into free motion embroidery, but I had a go at using this tip too sew the hem of a pair of jeans and it worked! Thank you so much!
I thought about using thick thread in the top but it would not go through the biggest needle I had. This is great & I am going to go load a bobbin right now & see how it works for me. I am making bowls from rope & hope this works. Will be able to make something beautiful
Thanks for sharing. I'm going to try it. The only thing is that I have patched fabric pieces together, to create an abstract design. I wanted to topstitch over the fabric.
Thanks Jasmin. The sky and grass is painted. I have watered down some fabric paint but you can use other paints, acrylic is good. I have also attached some little bits of merino wool and couched that down with some embroidery in the grass area and then I have embroidered some daisies on top of that
Hi - I really enjoyed watch you embroidered these items. Just curious, what and how you use these items. I want to learn how to embroider but I can't think of what use them for? thanks
Hi Sophie, they are ideas to use in textile art or you could use them to decorate a garment. There is another video I've just done on my channel showing you how to make a textile postcard : ruclips.net/video/SUi-AA5ROQY/видео.html I hope that helps to give you ideas.
Wonderful Video. Would you please, tell me where can I get the darning presser foot you have in this video ?? I want to get one for my machine, as I enjoy embroidering. I will appreciate it very much. Thanks
Hi, the open toed free machine embroidery foot I use in this video is for a Brother machine available from Frank Nutt Sewing Machines. Different brands of machines have their own styles of free machine embroidery feet and they all look slightly different. What you need is an open toed machine embroidery foot that is designed for your specific machine model. Hope that helps.
Thank you Claire! Are there any links to a site where I can order such bobbin case for this BROTHER. They are not imported to Ukraine. I have BROTHER INNOV-IS F460
I have tried using thick thread in my bobbin but it turned into a mess on the bobbin... it didn't wind properly at all. It jammed, etc. I have a front facing bobbin and am not sure how to bypass the bobbin mechanism.
Are you bringing the bobbin thread up through the stitch plate before you start and do you have it placed so that it is going away from you at the back?
Why not trying to reverse the thick threads on the top and using the normal fly of threads on bobbin you can save time to reload the bobbin I use this technique since 30 years of sewing experience but love what are doing

Very clever....you remind me of Delia Smith lol
Incredible! Thank you!
Thank you! Great video. With the Tree embroidery art work, how is the rest of the scene done with the sky and grass? Is it embroidered or painted?
Thanks Jasmin. The sky and grass is painted. I have watered down some fabric paint but you can use other paints, acrylic is good. I have also attached some little bits of merino wool and couched that down with some embroidery in the grass area and then I have embroidered some daisies on top of that

Can te thick thread be used in a Sashiko sewing machine
manufactured by Babylock?
What kind of thread? Cotton what? Where do you get it what is it usually used for?
Hi , I used Cotton Perle thread which is used in needlecraft, embroidery and creative stitching
I followed your video on we embroidery to the T. But my upper thread won't pick up the bobbin thread. Any ideas.
Are you bringing the bobbin thread up through the stitch plate before you start and do you have it placed so that it is going away from you at the back?
fabulous!
Does anyone know the type of fabric used in this video?
Hi the fabric is cotton calico
what size needle?
Hi , I was using a universal size 80
Hey, gibt es auch Schablonen dafür?
Sorry, there are no templates
Entschuldigung, es gibt keine Vorlagen
Why not set the speed control at a lower setting and then just push the pedal alL the way down.
Wow
Feed dogs down, thread tension 1 (New Home instruction book rec), and I get loops on the back. What am I doing wrong?
What foot are you using?
Hi It was a Brother Open Toed Quilting Foot
Why not trying to reverse the thick threads on the top and using the normal fly of threads on bobbin you can save time to reload the bobbin I use this technique since 30 years of sewing experience but love what are doing
The thick thread I use is too thick to pass through the top sewing machine mechanism.
