  • How To Sew Free-Motion Embroidery On Water Soluble Fabric | Textile Techniques | Didsbury Art Studio
    Using Transfer paints on satin I combine free-motion embroidery on water soluble fabric based on the theme Natural Forms. Using these textile techniques I sew onto the fabrics and layer them up.
    Thanks for watching today I hope you enjoy these regular textile techniques and if you would like to watch more I have a playlist that you can plough through!
    Hello I'm Sally an art and textiles teacher who set up my small teaching business @didsburyartstudio after leaving my full-time teaching job in a secondary school in the UK. Since then I have been exploring my passion for art/textiles by building up a portfolio of new skills from courses I have been on and a recent Internship in Millinery. Currently, I am teaching art part-time in a hospital and offer textile workshops to schools.

      Hi Victoria I mainly keep creating to develop my professional skills.. I also keep samples to show pupils when I am teaching in classes. However, I have often framed my pieces and some have gone in exhibitions or for gifts. Do you create?

    when you do only thread Embrodiery after wash does it become stiff or stays soft?

    • @didsburyartstudio
      @didsburyartstudio  2 года назад

      Hi Saima the machine thread is fairly stiff yes, in fact you can sculpt it around bottles and pots etc and it will retain their forms. I am doing another video on Thursday using stabilizer fabric which you may prefer to work on with free motion embroidery. Check it out anyway.

      Hi Dulcie the transfer paints I used came from this website www.colourist.info and the water soluble fabric can be found on amazon..think for the transparent fabric that I used is called wash away water soluble embroidery stabilizer. 👍🏻

    I will be very grateful. Greetings from Peru

    • @didsburyartstudio
      @didsburyartstudio  2 года назад +1

      Greetings from the UK! Hi I used just thin white paper (cheap) from an A4 pad but you can use textured paper for a slightly different result. The paints I used are called Colourist Heat Transfer Paints. thank you Almendra. (there is now a playlist for Natural Forms which you might enjoy other textile techniques included).
