You are so right about renaming tasks, and so many other things. Cup 1/2 empty or cup 1/2 full. Way back when my children were small, I learned to call a trip to the grocery , anywhere, a “field trip”. Field trips here in Michigan are an activity offered at school. They are specific to go somewhere, somehow educationally oriented. They always included a bus ride and fun! I turned those errands into fun, by stopping at the lake, park, something. The word “adventure” can be the same.
At your encouragement, I am indulging in beauty products I was saving for special occasions, and it makes me feel so pampered and happy. Sending love!
I have found that when my place was in a bad state 15 minutes per day Monday to Friday in the zone started to gets things under control. Every month the state of the house improves. I started following flylady zone cleaning last Summer and at Christmas it was a pleasure to decorate as the place was much cleaner. I have let zone cleaning and weekly home blessing slip for the last 3 weeks because I am so busy with work from home/university assignments, but morning and evening routines and swish swipes have kept the place fairly ok and laundry under control. Diane's idea to use pillowcase to dust bedroom when changing bed is a great tip 😃

Your statement "every day is a special day" really is something to think about. I have always saved things for a more "special" time. I am changing that. I wear that necklace, or my fav perfume or that blouse that I only wear to special events( which anymore are non existent) I live a simple life, and I like it that way. I love my outdoors, walking/hiking, the animals I feed, and my view of the Superstition Mountains. you are also a part of my day that I enjoy so much..love your instagram too
When we have an overwhelming task at work, my boss says- how do you eat an elephant? one bite at a time. I think of this when tackling my chores too! Thanks for sharing!

I think your hairstyle when you changed it was lively and fun. How horribly rude for someone to say otherwise. That must have hurt and made you feel awful. I’m so sorry that happened? Your energetic personality is now reflected in your clothes. I love it!
Thank you again for always making the system make sense. It gets done. Using the timer always makes it seem like a unwanted chore gets done before you know it. Then you look at the timer and there’s still time left. Isn’t that the best? Hurray!

Both looks are pretty! The new look is happier to me though. I think when we are happy with how we look that is all that matters.

I needed to hear those words about Fly Lady zones and doing just a little bit at a time today. Thank you! I tend to get down on myself for not doing all my zone work and then that sets me back further. I’ve been trying to declutter for a year now and feel like I can never get to the true zone work. I have just learnt the lesson about mould in the slot where my washing drawer goes. I cleaned my draw and then wiped out inside the slot. The top was black 😱 I have never thought to look up there before 🥴. I now leave my drawer ajar so it’s now on my list when I’m in that zone
Loving the squirrel!! We have a couple in our backgreen but they are grey squirrel; love seeing them zipping up & down the tree trunks!! In our backgreen I have made up what I call my 'memory pots' - 1 for each of my 3 cats who have passed on, planted with individually selected plants & bulbs. Don't know if this counts as a pamper idea but it makes me happy to see the flowers growing in them. This summer I am hoping to create a 'herbal tea corner' to grow herbs for infusing, dep on when the garden centres open for us.

I used to have a problem getting my mopping done because I have so much body pain back pain hip pain etc so when I started sweeping and mopping floors on Mondayand other than my morning and evening routine that's all I did on Monday it was so much easier to get my mopping done.
when I tried to do mopping at the end of all of the other chores it was too much for me and I would just not do it because I was in too much pain.
Monday is mopping Tuesday is tub and toilet (the outside of the toilet because I clean the inside everyday), Wednesday is white dust, Thursday is throw stuff out like paper clutter and cleaning out my refrigerator, Friday is floors which is primarily vacuuming but I also will get the broom out and sweep the kitchen floor. Saturday I wash sheets and towels, Sunday is shein day which is the day I make anyting shine that is supposed to shine like mirrors or Windows and electronic screens. a Sunday is also the day that I shine a light into the week to come which is kind of like planning play day. And those are my weekly chores and it's 10 to 15 minutes for each one and it's done. and I can assure you that mopping your floor once a week it gets cleaner and then more clean until it looks great. I personally don't get into the corners or do the baseboard except when I'm doing zone cleaning. (and when I'm in a lot of pain I actually hire somebody to come in and do some of the zone cleaning tasks for me.) it's great because she's not coming in to clean the whole house she's coming in to do some of the zone tasks that I couldn't do that month because it was too painful. I don't always hire somebody but it's nice to hire somebody and have specific tests that I want them to do and only those tasks and that way I know how long it probably will take them and I can give them a Time budget. And that way it doesn't cost too much for me to hire somebody to help me.
I have been adding a splash of white (clear) vinegar to my washing. Keeps my clothing smelling fresh. Also keeps moldy/mildew residue away inside my machine. Also, I never use fabric softner sheets or liquid in my laundry. I found it was leaving a waxy residue that made the whites turn dull and dingy.
"Spa treatment for your soap dish", you are the absolute best! That way of seeing things makes so much sense and does make it more fun and enjoyable. Thank you for sharing as always

Dear Diane, I usually don't comment on videos. But I really want to thank you for all the changes you have guided me through. I had several fly weekends and it is so, SO good to enjoy the weekend again. For so many years, weekends were filled with cleaning and shopping and car washing and lawn mowing and .... the list goes on forever. Thank you so much for teaching me how to enjoy the weekend again. Now you were my timer, my bathroom is so much cleaner than before and I will go relax outside in the garden with a book and a beer. Much love from Germany 💖💖💖

That is a great idea about the washing powder with a hot wash! I had stopped doing a hot wash and have only been doing "lights" and "darks" but I think it would do the machine good to have that grit of the powder with the hot water from time to time. And also, just when I had adapted to a "don't wash after one wear but air dry habit" this virus thing happened and now, DH and DD wash their clothes and shower right after returning home from work. So now, more washing IS happening but I know..it will not be for forever ;)

Really like the idea for timing work/job by listening to an audio book or music, etc. Many audio apps have sleep timers. When the audio stops you stop your work/job. Nice!

regarding timer and music I have had a great present 2 two years ago on Mother's Day from my son a small radio the size of a Rubik's cube (!!!) complete with USB and headphones inputs and I carry it in my pocket so I pace my chores according to my favorite broadcasts!! and also I use songs to time my work, exercise etc. i.e. 3 songs are approx. 15 minutes so you get the idea!! you also get that I am not a big fan of TV unless there is a film or a tv series in the evening!! I'd rather read. Have a nice day everyone and keep safe!!!

Happy Tuesday for you. Picked up straw at the feed store for the layered garden in progress. This garden is seen from the bath window so is my zone garden. Rain and cold today as well. Alan will pot up some more seed to be planted later.we made a medical and car appointment for later in the week. Running the usual lols and have the weeks meals written out. We can have feeders out when the bears are hibernating only. Any food source is a very dangerous attractant! I still have the bath wall repair I am procrastinating, maybe Wednesday I will finally finish?

I read the Denmark was reopening? We are still on strict quarantine in CT in the USA. I was wondering how you felt about it.
I live in Denmark too and am 7 months pregnant. I am a bit scared to go out too much, but Denmark has also made it possible for me to go on early maternity leave so I don't have to.
I think the country is doing it very responsibly and in every press conference, the prime minister keeps saying that we are still in a pandemic and that it is important that everyone still keeps to the safety guidelines. We closed down early and the hospitals are keeping up just fine. So, so far so good. :)

If the squirrel is eating too much, The bird feeder should be raised up so only the birds can reach it. We had one squirrel who jumped at least 10 times before he gave up and realized he just wasn’t going to get seeds anymore. However, if you enjoy watching the squirrel, then just leave it.
Diane, I like your kitchen very much. Are your cabinets something that can be purchased in the U.S. I really like the drawers in stead of cabinets. It seems you get more storage that way. Thank you in advance.

Yes, I do, and my washing machine can do half-loads.

I am 55 now. Due to menopause and stressfull years taking care of and losing both of my parents have caused gaining 10 kg in 5 years...
Now my waist is gone. And I have tried so much different things but I cannot get it back.😫
As easy as it was when I was younger, as difficult it is now. Also very low in energy and having a lot of headaches.
I would looove to wear my dresses again and feel better about myself and have more energy. 😊

I watched an earlier Pre-DYT video. You were always lovely. 💕 But the difference between then and now is something like this... before there was a brick on you holding you down. Afterwards I’d say ....you need a BAG of bricks to hold you down! I’d describe you now as someone attached to a helium ballon just floating joyfully through life. 🥰

If you don’t have a clothes dryer, how do your towels dry? Aren’t they stiff and scratchy?
Patty Adams I don’t have a clothes dryer and my towels are soft and fluffy. I find the quality of your towels and detergent make a difference.
It's pretty common not to have a tumble dryer in the UK. Hanging clothes on the radiator and on a clothes rack or outdoors are our usual ways to dry. oh and we are more likely to have heated towel rails in our bathrooms. Not that answers your question lol!
Thanks for the input. You won’t see a house in US without washer dryer or at least the hookup for it. I can’t imagine without and dealing with all the towels!!

10.08 Diane Re dressing your truth what type would you think I am? I have kind of narrowed it now down to 1/4 but I can clearly see a 2 as well and sometimes the four overtakes the one.
I've always been attracted to smart clothes and also I like pale Clothes but I can see the what I just describe as olive tones in the type III and then soft Grays as well in type II.
I have done dressing your truth quizzes and the answers I got always come out we can't they can't give me an answer and I know Carol Tuttle says don't let anyone else say what type you are but I would just like to know a type so maybe I could get involved and enjoy that.
I've been a year now and I really can't come up with a conclusion I'd love to get into the system the whole fun of it you seem to be having fun and I don't know could you suggest something even that might give me a clue?
