I use blue willow dishes, too! My granny gave them to me, they were hers when she and my granddad got married. I love them! Great video! I love Fly Lady
I used to put my child in one sink while I cleaned the kitchen using the other side of my double sink. That way I got bath time and my dishes done at the same time! She would play in the water with a few toys while I was scrubbing dishes and putting them n the dishwasher.
It’s always great to kill 2 birds with one stone. 💕
Hi there! I started Fly Lady a few weeks ago and I’m loving it! Watching other people use the system is really motivating for me. I don’t have children and both me and my partner work outside the home, and I find the system works great for us.
I totally agree with you about using entertainment while cleaning. This helps me so much! I either watch RUclips, listen to a podcast, or put on an audiobook when I am going about my fly lady tasks. It makes me feel doubly productive, and like I’m not missing out on my relaxation time by cleaning and decluttering on a week night.
I really like that this system works so well for most situations and does not require large chunks of time.

I just started the Fly Lady method and it has changed the game! I LOVE IT!!!
Loved your video. I've been doing the FlyLady system for 2 yrs and it has been a life saver. One thing I do to help make it easier to clean my pans is when I take my plate to the sink after dinner, I put away any leftovers, and then I put a squirt of dish soap and run warm water in each pan, and put them back on the stove to soak until I clean them later. That keeps me from having to scrub them later. Can't wait to see your next video!

First time EVER I have seen someone else shine their pots with bar keepers friend!! My mom always shined her pots and I too now. Nice to know we aren't the only ones lol

Thanks for sharing your FlyLady routines! FlyLady has singlehandedly transformed the way I keep a clean and inviting home. I also clean my bathrooms every other day but I alternate between the master bathroom and powder room. My teen girls take care of the home blessing once/week and they also clean up the kitchen every night. Loooove Bar Keepers Friend!! I use the soft cleanser in the kitchen and bathroom and cleans up so so nicely! I've never tried in on my stainless steel cookware, good idea!!

I sweep the kitchen floor several times a day but certainly at night. Classical music on the radio! Dishes done, sink shined up. Stove and counters wiped clean. Simple Green is a great product.

Many years ago I would talk with my grandma on the phone while I did my Friday deep-cleaning; we both really enjoyed it and I would get so much done and it never felt like work! A few years later I earned a small T.V. as a bonus from my job, so I put it in my kitchen and would turn it on while working in there. Today I do what you do, I turn on my phone to a podcast or a Netflix show, or I ask Google Home to "Play NPR on all speakers" so that I don't miss any stories as I move from room to room. :-)

Hi Nikki, I’m loving your channel. I am so grateful for this video today because I needed the inspiration. This week has been hard because I had to do so much. My kitchen is always cleaned at night. It’s my routines that I worry about ...sigh. I get sidetracked with other things. Ggrrr.

I love the clean kitchen when I get up in the morning and the bathroom is easy I have only two to clean and it is so cquick using fly lady I need to work on my afternoon routine thank you so much being on you tube

Enjoying your cleaning videos. Wow, I'm impressed someone has energy to so thoroughly clean their big home and cook for 5 and homeschool 3 kids! You are so organized. Do you prefer Fly Lady or Clean Mama systems more?
So glad you are enjoying the videos. If I had to pick between the 2 systems as they are written, I would choose Flylady. BUT, I have been tweaking some things and feel like the best system for me is a combination of the two. I plan to share more about it as I get it all worked out and have been doing it for a while. I also believe that we sometimes have to change our system depending on the phase of life or season we are in. I am learning to be disciplined, but also flexible.

I chuckled at your mouthwash in a Starbucks jar 😁 I love repurposing things too! For my mouthwash, I put it in a 0.98 cent condiment squeeze bottle from Walmart (the kind you usually see bbq sauce and ketchup in at picnics and such). That way no mouths ever actually touch the bottle, the kids and I just tip our head back and squeeze some in!
Lol! I use those Starbucks bottles for all kinds of things!
A friend recommended your video and it is very helpful and motivational! Something that might be helpful is that I notice that you rinse dishes before they go in the dish washer. We got a new dishwasher last year and I did some research on the rinsing of dishes....it's a hard habit to break! (of course in keeping with manufacturer's recommendations) - I tried it and and found that I don't need to rinse dishes before they go in the dishwasher - (after all we got the dishwasher to wash the dishes and I thought that I shouldn't be pre-rinsing - it's like having a dog and barking yourself LOL) Have recommended to friends and they are no longer rinsing...thus saving time! Liked your recommendations for cleaning products - and yes bar keepers friend is great. Thanks great video and ideas! :)

Also helps if you use jet dry - the liquid additive....we did that in my sister-in-law’s dishwasher and she’s no longer rinsing....but hey may not work with all machines! Thanks again for the great videos and your very helpful tips...all the best

Enjoyed your video. I’m using it to motivate myself. Like you, I always leave the kitchen clean. I wash dishes as I cook so there’s not as much to do at the end. My husband helps & is the one who usually dries the dishes. I’d rather wash than dry. 🙂 Also, the thought of getting up to dirty dishes-or even cold, dirty dishwater-makes me barf!And thank you for washing your hands after cleaning the toilet & before you clean the countertop & sink. I’m so grossed out by people who don’t do that & also who use a cloth/paper towel to wipe out the sink & then use that same item (without folding it over even) to wipe the countertop. Ugh! I’m such a germaphobe that the thought of then putting other objects down on the counter makes me gag. People need to be aware of cross contamination!
I know what you mean about the germs! I don’t always film myself washing my hands, but I ALWAYS do wash my hands between those kind of tasks. 😉

Love your videos, been watching all morning. My question is what cleaners do you particularly like? Also what if you have more than one hot spot in a room? Should I set a timer work left to right and do this in all the rooms each day until it’s finished or work for say 15 minutes in just one room and then when it’s finished move to the next room? Also do I really need a check list I noticed your schedule book? Finally I didn’t know I was doing this but I have established some routines here recently I used to never make my bed! 🤷♀️but that’s the first thing I do now then I get dressed. When I worked I got dressed went to work then was so tired when I came home I thought oh well too close to bedtime I’ll make it Saturday lol!thank you for your inspiring videos. Blessings!
Hi, Bonnie, so glad you are enjoying the videos. If you have multiple hot spots I would dedicate 15 mins a day to a hot spot in whatever zone we are in, until that room is decluttered. It might take you several weeks or months depending on how much decluttering you need to do. So this week is Zone 3 - main bathroom plus one other room (laundry room, office, kid room, craft room, etc.) Work 15 mins in that room each day and then next week work on hot spots in Zone 4 - master bedroom and bath. Does that make sense? Once your home is decluttered you can spend a few mins each day staying on top of hot spots. Things tend to collect on our kitchen counter, so I make sure that I get that spot cleared daily so that it doesn’t continue to grow. As for as a planner goes, any old notebook is great for keeping a checklist. Just use whatever you have. I like to keep lists to keep myself on task. That’s awesome that you are creating some good new routines. All the little steps add up over time and really make a big difference. Keep up the good work. 💕
It might help that whilst you dress to shoes, you open the window and flip the duvet to air your bed with fresh air...
I read this suggestion from a couple of Flylady followers and I love the idea, but I live in deep south alabama....soooo hot and humid. What would you do in that case?
@@kimberlystrickland189 maybe same as me, in winter that's not gonna happen, i just pull back the covers to air the bed and make it up later on.

I have three bathrooms, so I just do a different bathroom each morning and skip Sundays. They stay clean that way!

We are part of a very large very religious organization and we clean a lot. LOL
We care about those who come to our public meetings and homes so we love microfiber. The technology with water is amazing. Good for you! Love God and neighbor this is the greatest commandment. Can you imagine the world if everyone applied this simple principle?

Be researching the fly lady method, as I work out side of the home right now. Because I had been a stay at home mom for a long time, so trying to find my new routine after a long days work has been so difficult for me
Oh, I bet the switch has been overwhelming. The thing I like most about the Flylady System is that you can make it work for you. A good solid Morning/Evening Routine goes a long way. Add in 10-15 of cleaning (a home blessing Task) and 15 of zone cleaning a day really it really is enough to keep things up. And delegate....if you can.I hope you find something that works well for you. 💕
I found that after I changed clothes, I had to start something immediately. Otherwise I'd sit down "for just a few minutes" and nothing would get done.
Your videos are so helpful. Thank you for sharing. I want to ask you something: do you wear your lace-up shoes the whole day during the morning and evening routine, or do you let your feet relax a little bit?
When I am struggling to stay on top of things, I try to wear them to keep me motivated. I’m at a place now where I don’t wear them often. Shoes make me REALLY hot. 😂 I tend to lean towards flip flops or no shoes these days.

New to FL system and I Love it!! Loved seeing your routine. One suggestion.... when cleaning the toilet START wiping the seat first THEN the rest of the toilet. I cringe when I see the seat gets wiped AFTER other parts of the toilet are wiped. You’re not alone. I notice most videos showing it done like this. PS.... Love your music, too 😊

I don’t always, but most of them time I do. I hang them to dry and I feel like they dry faster inside out. 💕

I have always wanted to try method and when I looked up the granite cleaner they had different and I want to buy something that smells good as well. Thanks for your help and input!

I am CONFUSED How do you incorporate Home blessings with zone cleanings? Do you do One hour of home blessing then 15 minutes of Zone cleaning? How do they work together what do you do that's different?
Patricia I’m sorry you are confused. The best advice I can give is to make the Flylady system work for you, whatever that looks like. Ideally, the way the system was laid out by the Flylady, you will do the weekly home blessing hour on Monday + 15 mins of zone cleaning each week day. I change it up sometimes depending on my mood and schedule. Sometimes I spread the weekly home blessing out through the week. Sometimes I do all of my Zone cleaning in an hour.

What is the duster you’re using?
If it’s the long blue one, it is one I found YEARS ago at Big Lots….the brand is Mr. Clean. I haven’t been able to find that exact one, but E-Cloth makes one that looks the same. It’s probably nicer than the one I have.

I realy need help my kids moved out and left me with declutter the whole house .
Decluttering can be very overwhelming. Pick a spot to start on, and set your timer for 15 mins a day. A little bit each day will add up over time.

One thing I find are that shoes are gross in a home. I was raised in Europe and we don't wear shoes in the house
Keep a clean pair just for the house when cleaning. I also wash the soles from time to time.

Why does it seem so many people in U.S. home school? It seems like so much time and effort when your tax dollars are already taken to pay for teachers educated and trained in the field. Is it because they live in a poor school system or is it for religious reasons? Honest question because, here in Boston, MA area I don't know anyone who home schools. (Also, if you home school do you get tax breaks? I think you should...)
There are so many different reasons people choose to homeschool. I was homeschooled for a few years because when my mom checked statewide test scores when we moved to a new area they were really low. She homeschooled us to make sure we had a good foundation for reading and math.
I didn’t intend to homeschool, but really felt like it was the right option for our family for a lot of reasons. We started out homeschooling and have just continued to do so. The area I live in has a large population of homeschooling families. No tax breaks, though.
Most people I know who do it are religious. It is a way to maintain a handle on what goes into their kids’ minds and hearts but honestly with bullying and other scary threats dominating news it is not hard to see how parents of young ones might not be keen on sending them out. I’m a public school teacher with 4 kids who went through public school, and I’m all for public school but I get it.
