What sold me on trying this system was that her app was free and easy to edit and customize to my home. I had also heard someone say that Fly Lady isn’t a cleaning system but rather an adulting system. This past school year was essentially perpetual chaos for me, so I’m trying this summer to get good at Fly Lady to be ready for the new school year

Decluttering first is the best way to make it easy to do routines and maintain. A clean tidy house is addicting. Once I got a few months in, i found it's so easy to maintain and routines only take a few minutes daily. Love it. Thanks for sharing your experience!

I watched four different videos three times each, including this one, that explained the flylady system, which I gave up on over a decade ago. Well, I think I finally got it. Thank you! Your breakdown was very good! I am 67 years old, and my childhood experience was similar to yours. One day a week to deep clean every single room in the house perfectly. And then I left home and never managed to have a clean house again. Finally, between the quarantine and all this RUclips help, I’m getting it together.

I’ve known about FlyLady for a couple decades, and implemented some of her daily tasks and routines ages ago, which I still do to this day. Then there was a gap between then and now where I fell off the FlyLady bandwagon, but kept a few of the tasks that carried me through. Now that it’s just me and my gc in the house, I’m trying out different routines and systems, and come back to FlyLady every time as my base. I have also watched your Clean Mama video, and I like parts of Clean Mama, too. But FlyLady is my foundation. Thank you so much for your videos. I have a tiny 2 bedroom 1 bathroom home, so my zones and routines are very different than yours. But I like your style and personality. Thanks for being here for all of us.

For the life of me I cannot understand why ANYONE would give ANY of your videos a thumbs down. I was watching your closet declutter today and heard you say you are having a C-Section and were worried about it. I had my daughter, who is now years old by CSection and it hurt, but I had her on Wednesday evening and went home on Friday morning. I was in church on Sunday and life was pretty normal. I was and thought I would never have babies so I was pretty happy!!! I didn't lift, except for her...same with her sister...two and a half years later. I was home in a day and a half and taking care of both children. My husband was a huge help which made it easier. I watch your videos over and over...I plug you into my car and listen to RUclips thru my radio...I have Alexa Show 8 in my kitchen. I am in the process of reworking my journal and I thank you so very much. I also latched on to what you said about carrying a diaper bag. They make them now that don't even look like one and I am ordering one. There are lots of things I like to have with me in my car, but don't need to take into stores with me. Thank You...

Someone actually watched all of my videos and disliked them🤣 I guess people don't know that it has no effect on my channel, ratings, revenue, etc.💁🏼‍♀️ Just another internet grump! I'm so glad to hear about your C-section! I've heard mixed things either 100% positive, or 100% negative, so I really don't know what to think! But thank you again for sharing!

I am another like you, perfection in detail in some areas but my house not so much (like no order at all 🙈) and married to a man who is very organized and tidy.

OH my god! you are me!! I am known for being super organised perfectionist at work. I have a very complex project management style job and I have planners, and notes galore, I am the person people come to for answers and say, I came to you because your so organised and will know this or that. I can put my hands on things immediately. But my “ greatest weekness” is that I know I’m not a born organiser so I work really hard at it and now it’s kind of my thing. But you’re right, at home I am just overwhelmed by the mess. My husband is super organised in all things. He took over the laundry when we had (5) young children because the laundry room was always just full of laundry. We have 4 daughters and my two (3 of them are my step children) are like me and so messy. I couldnt beleive it when you said it was a thing to be organised at work but not at home!! I’m so happy to hear this as it makes sense! and oh my, the not having people over thing! I need a week to prepare and the only time my house is ever truly clean is when we are selling or expecting guests. I feel normal! for the first time!

I am going to try this! Can definitely agree with you re being a perfectionist about that which really interests me - which does NOT include housework - and feeling constantly guilty, ashamed etc about the state of my house, fully KNOWING that my late mother (r.i.p. mam xx you could keep an army going xx) would be soo disapproving.. And every time i see a Brillo pad (sigh) i recall those wasted childhood days spent scrub scrub scrubbing - when it really didn't matter how hard i scrubbed, it was never good enough. So, i also fell into the habit of not starting ANYthing ulnless i could finish it that day (impossible when you have messed up as only a perfectionist can mess up!) Yea, i often walked into a room where you could not distinguish the worthwhile from the non-recyclable, and walked straight back out again, closing the door so's nobody would know i had abandoned a mess. Oh it is good to know i'm not the only one who has done that. Ran away from Rubbish 😶

I feel like you are describing me and my life!!!!
My mom is the same, my husband is a firefighter so he is type A very neat and clean (he is a great helper).
I have ADD and get overwhelmed easily, have a hard time following routines or schedules.
But I am newly on meds which are helping, and I am ready to finally tackle a cleaning schedule/ a life schedule. I am ready to own my house, VS it owning me haha.
4 mins in can’t wait to hear the rest! TY!

I've just begun the flylady system and have already begun to customize it to my needs. One of the things I've had to do over the years is to require my husband to help me because I work 60 hours a week. I was trying to do everything at work and at home and that is a recipe for disaster. I wound up sleeping only four hours most every night and then I crashed on the weekends and dreaded every Monday as I didn't want to start another week as a hamster on a treadmill. I had been burning the candle at both ends trying to work full-time and then coming home and doing EVERYTHING! I don't ask my husband to make a 7-course dinner or to do in-depth cleaning. However, he makes 1-2 dinners a week, does about 50% of laundry and about 50% of the grocery shopping. If I didn't work or worked only part-time, I'm sure I wouldn't need the help, but, as a nurse I am required to work 12-hour shifts. I am certainly willing to make changes and adopt new habits that will better serve me and my husband, but I can't change everything about myself and I don't think anyone else should either.

I often have several hotspots. I work a few minutes on each everyday. I can't understand how I still continue to put things on flat surfaces instead of immediately putting things away straight away. This flylady system has been a great help to me . I am good at swishing and swiping making the bed and washing dishes and I always shine my sink . I love the system because I know what I want to achieve that day. If I count everything I probably spend an hour each day. Morning routine 15 minutes 15 minutes zone cleaning up after meals 30 minutes . Laundry only takes me 10 minutes to hang on the line and probably another 10 minutes to put away. I am not counting making meals. I should probably still declutter 15 minutes at least one day a week. Because I have a very disabled husband I usually have help one day a week where we together do the weekly homeblessing hour of the whole house and we thoroughly clean the zone. She sweeps and washes my front and back patios which are tiled and we sweep the vast amount of wa stamped concrete that makes up the rest of the garden area. We get all this done in 2 hours. Unfortunately with lockdown here in Cyprus she is unable to come so I do the weekly homeblessing on a Monday after doing my morning routine so I don't do zone cleaning on Monday now. Sometimes I split up the weekly homeblessing tasks such as changing my sheets a couple of days before I do the home blessing and I mostly clean windows in zone like Diane in Denmark does. I often deal with the trash around 3 times a week. Because of the flylady system I am still keeping on top of things without my helper but things like cleaning on top of my high kitchen cupboards can wait a while. I just dust on top with a feather duster on a long handle for the moment . I am not very good with step ladders. Thanks for sharing

I am glad i stumbled upon this website where SOME one has done all the thinking for me, about an area of my life which has always been an insoluble mystery. WHY do i have to clean this AGAIN? And why doesn't it STAY clean? When i moan about it, some smartass ALWAYS pipes up "it's not rocket science!" And i reply, "Rocket science is WAY easier than this!" And it is true.

OMG! You are amazing! I haven’t read her book yet. I have it in my Kindle. You explained things so clearly, breaking the system down, making it easier to understand. The only issue I have is cleaning the sink every night. I have a large deep sink the size of two sinks. I have a stainless steel grid on it that I have to angle it sideways in order to take it out to clean the sink. And that grid gets dirty and is very time consuming to clean it. I scrub all the grids with a brush, but I hate doing it more than once a week. Also, With my arthritis I am 3 1/2 inches shorter than I used to be and I’m rubbing my elbows on the rim of the sink. Any suggestions are appreciated. Thank you

Get a wide stool n stand on it to do d dishes. Find a wide flat container ( like we get for our car so things will not get scattered everywhere in d trunk) put it under ur shower n soak d grid in it. It will be easier to clean. Rinse off everything under d shower. I think you don't have to clean it daily if it's so troublesome. The general idea is to keep it clean n simple.

Two and a half years later I had my second daughter, same way...home in a day and a half..husband did not faint the second time. This would embarrass my daughter to tears...I nursed both daughters until they were 4 years old...yep. Sara was two and a half when I brought Amy home and nursed for another year and a half. As they got older it was generally naptime or when a boo boo happened.

I hope things change and you don't need a C-Section, but I was so thankful for a healthy baby and I am sure you feel the same. Remember I had mine 41 years ago and things have to have come a long way since then. I had a spinal, stayed awake. They positioned the mirrors so that I could watch, but I didn't until they popped Sara out of me. My husband fainted, and the doctor called for help and said, "The Mom is fine, but we have lost the father." Everything turned out great...my doctor said he had never let anyone go home in a day and a half. Gave me his home phone number and told me to not pick up anything heavier than a cup of coffee. Today, that daughter and my 7 year old grandson live in our downstairs. Either way, it will be fine.

Were you aware that the title of your video is THEY Flylady instead of THE Flylady?

I heard FLY stands for finally loving yourself, is that just made up?

I am a huge Flylady fan. I believe a member (a Flyba by) coined that phrase and now Marla uses it all the time. So it is true.

It is!!!! And it's true! Since our house has slowly slowly slowly STAYED cleaner, I've noticed that I am happier, and less anxious in our home. IT's been amazing to love myself!

Does it matter? Itsa good reason for remembering the f.l.y.lady is NOT some fly-on-the-wall but a person who knows what is important in HER life and loves THAT. Rather than scrubbing forever, HER limited time is spent on.. NICE things - the housework stuff is strictly for those short bursts of time - so there's more REAL time for the important things - loved ones ♥♥; hobbied; walking; following the soaps (yawn!) Sorry 😴 not my cuppa

I've got 2 videos about decluttering Toys (and another one coming) and 2 on decluttering clothes (all in my Extreme Home Declutter playlist). I need to get husband to do his clothes, and when I'm emotionally ready (😢) I'll do my kid's clothes too,🤣

So glad I found you channel! We are kindred spirits! I can’t wait to watch more of your content. Does the journal you refer to come with the book or do I purchase it somewhere separate?
