  • "Get Your Lawn Ready for Summer with These Spring Renovation Tips!
Hey there, lawn enthusiasts! Ready to transform your outdoor space into a green paradise just in time for summer? Follow these simple steps to give your lawn the TLC it deserves:
Assessment Time: Take a stroll around your yard and assess the current state of your lawn. Look for bare patches, weeds, compacted soil, and any other issues that need attention.
Prep Work: Before diving into renovation, give your lawn a good cleanup. Remove any debris, dead leaves, or lawn clutter that might be hiding beneath the surface.
Aeration: Aerating your lawn is key to promoting healthy grass growth. Use a lawn aerator to perforate the soil and allow oxygen, water, and nutrients to reach the grassroots.
Overseeding: Once your lawn is aerated, it's time to overseed. Choose a high-quality grass seed that's suited to your climate and soil type. Spread the seed evenly across your lawn to fill in bare spots and encourage thick, lush growth.
Fertilization: Treat your lawn to a nourishing meal with a balanced fertilizer. Look for a fertilizer specifically formulated for spring application, and follow the instructions carefully to avoid overfeeding.
Weed Control: Don't let pesky weeds steal the spotlight from your grass. Tackle them head-on with a targeted weed control product or by pulling them out manually.
Watering: Keep your newly renovated lawn hydrated by watering it deeply and consistently. Aim for about an inch of water per week, either from rainfall or irrigation.
Maintenance: Once your lawn renovation is complete, it's important to stay on top of maintenance. Regular mowing, watering, and occasional fertilization will keep your lawn looking its best all summer long.
With these simple tips, you'll be well on your way to achieving a lawn that's the envy of the neighborhood. So grab your gloves and get ready to enjoy a summer filled with lush, green grass and outdoor fun!"

It’s nice to see a professional start with the scalp, many people have got away from that. I see people purposefully leaving their grass extremely long and just dumping seed. They ignore the thatch and 12 inch blades of grass.

So far this season: lawn has been slowly shortened so the grass crowns arent damaged. De-thatching the lawn this weekend. Will give it a mow the 2 after but not to take off much material (1 notch on the reel) just seems to kick start growing based on previous seasons. Aerator is coming next week. And sand/soil mix (80:20) ordered to level the lawn after aeration. Only issue now is my dog likes to eat rocks and if i miss picking one up before mowing with the reel mower, the blades are going to get dull again fast.

Interesting. I live in Maryland and fall is usually the best time to do this process. It starts getting HOT in June. If you don't get that pre-emergent down in the Spring (because you decided to overseed) then you are going to have a battle with the weeds, and weeds take up nutrients. Fall = dethatch, overseed and Spring = weed control

    Hi mate.
Im after your wise wisdom. It's 11th April and my lawn is like a mud pit. Its horrendous. The soil is very clay-ey anyway and its awful when exposed to rain like we've had.
The bald patches and parts that are particularly churned up I have levelled out the best I can after digging narrow drainage channels using sharp sand.
I am waiting for it to dry out a little and will then scarify, top dress with more sand and top dressing mix then re-seed. Just wondered if im on the right lines? My mrs reckons I need to re-turf but i refuse to 😅
