"Повешу компрессор на эту дорожку чтобы разбить звук!" Именно так мы и говорим обычно. 😁 Molotok is a really great compressor, like all tools from Tokyo Dawn Records.👍🏻
Thank you for making this video, I love the TDR stuff, and I've been waiting on a compressor from them like this. You always do a great job with your videos.
Great vid Jon, glad I woke up and realised that your FB post was a link to the blog/video. I've had a stressful week and this has been a big help with making the weekend start on a good note.
I'm finding I'm using MOLOT GE more and more as time goes on. It's very musical, smooth, and easy to use (and look at!). I love the interface, and the controls, and control meters provide so much information on what's going on inside. It's become a favorite (as is pretty much anything from TDR, and I own ALL of their plugins!). Shout out to Nova GE and Arbiter too. BTW, I used the free versions for years before buying all of the GE versions. My advice... get the GE versions. Not only do you get far more capabilities from these great plugs, but you support further development from TDR as well.
I wish there was a better explanation for the alpha, beta, sigma switch. Is that like a peak vs RMS slider? It's very ambiguous in my opinion and the manual has the same exact information. Other than that it's a very easy to dial in compressor imo.
Is it related somehow to the rather famous Молот (Molot) compressor? or is it an independent product, just named as a little brother of Молот by occasion?
Maybe Molotok is simplified Molot, because молот (molot) is a large hammer, and молоток (molotok) is a small hammer (word derives with the help of suffix "-ок", that is pretty common way in Russian)
I mean, you COULD. But it's definitely not a clean compressor. And on the master you generally want a clean compressor. No reason to not give it a try and experiment tho.
@@stuartwrigglesworth9339 Also, take note of my other post where I bring up the original Molot by Vladg Sound. It's still there, and it's still free. Far more functionality than this Molotok, which is pretty much just a dumbed down version, sadly. www.tokyodawn.net/vladg-molot-compressor/ ALSO pick up Limiter No 6 while you're there. The free version. Now THAT is a clean compressor/limiter, with several stages of compression and limiting. I almost always have it on my master buss. (Not the TDR version, the original Vladg version >> www.tokyodawn.net/vladg-limiter-n6/ ) TDR has an "updated" paid version of each, but ultimately the free versions work perfectly well and sound great!
@@artao5 If you only put clean compressors on the master buss you are missing out. That's exactly what top dollar mastering engineers with expensive gear will do. Also, this plugin isn't just a "dumbed down" version of the original Molot. There are improvements. This thing is fantastic on the master buss if you know what you're doing.
That's NOT how to use this fantastic compressor! If you use it like that, you could have much rather just used a clipper instead. Set the treshold and timing parameters so that it DYNAMICALLY REACTS TO THE PROGRAM MATERIAL not crushes it to death.

Nasty! Love it. Thanks, Jon
Another excellent one is TDR Kotelnikov which is used in some Mastering Studios. It's just that good. Not sure how the Molotok compares.
I didn't really get along with Kotelnikov, but it is a better choice for clean mastering I think.
Good video very interesting thanks.

молоток для разбивания звука 👌
крутой компрессор ! А в режиме BETA это и вовсе LA-2A стиль сжатия
Is that the same compressor as Molot by VladgSound?
I prefer molot. Versatile
It's a new version, remember that Vlad G started working for TDR years ago.
Is the free version as good as waves r comp?
I like it very good.?
Witch compression do you use ? On your mix ?
Is it related somehow to the rather famous Молот (Molot) compressor? or is it an independent product, just named as a little brother of Молот by occasion?
I've found Молот distro on TDR site, so this is definitively not a coincidence
same company TDR
yes I believe it's the same compressor, just with a new, shiny interface.

yes exactly

can you give me a good settings for podcast/broadcast/radio ? i want to sound a "compressed" a bit
Low Ratio, fast attack, long release, treshold set to have around 3db gain reduction
@@ikehayes9252 thanks man. appreciate you!
