+marty procter haha lol well since my phone dosent have expandable memory I will not be able to save it so I had to give up on it but one day I will complete it
+Pokemon trainer Robin nice to figure out how long you want the animation to be so say 20 minutes what you will have to enter is the fps x minutes x 60 if you didnt know
I've been subscribed to jazza for years. I miss this jazza. He was calmer and more real. Today it's like a pretend unbelievable person. I could watch these videos forever. They are calm and educational and made me want to really pursue my art. He was still funny every once and a while, but he wasn't trying too hard to be. I still watch every jazza video that comes out, but I just find myself skipping parts of it and I get bored of it. Jazza seemed unique to me, he taught me a lot and wasn't like any other youtuber. But these days he IS like every other youtuber, "a loud quirky character whom makes outrageous jokes and does goofy things" he doesn't seem believable or real anymore. He seems more distant from his audience. He has improved in many ways though! His art, his branding, his channel, it's really neat to see how far he has come, but it's sad to see how he's conform.
trust me, you are super helpful! I'm not exactly doing what you're doing, I'm doing a cat walking, which was very confusing at first because I didn't even know how a cat walks. And its tweened and pretty choppy. But, its my first real animation, and its something. So, thank you for all your help :) (you probably wont see this, since its a pretty old video, but meh :P)
THANK YOU MATE, I'M LEARNING HOW TO ANIMATE VIA RUclips. MAYBE THE WAY YOU TEACH IS MORE COMPATIBLE TO THE WAY I LEARN, BUT YOU ARE MAKE THE BEST FLASH TUTORIALS ON RUclips. JUST WANTED YOU TO KNOW ITS APPRECIATED.
Fantastic; I'm just getting into Flash and it's obnoxious how awful some of these tutorials are. This is the first video of yours I've watched and I'll undoubtedly be watching all the rest. Thank you for being so easy to listen to and understand AND for including the source files, you've mad a newbie's life infitely easier
jaza you're awesome! and grate! you have awesome tutorials and animations! you helped me a lot! and i can't see how would i animate with out you =3 keep being awesome jazza
Ive been working on a performer for 3+ years now and I keep reiterating on the main character trying to get a solid animation this was fun to watch gave me ideas.
You know your an animator and want to become one when your are extremely interested in what he is doing and don't look a way once. This great! I thought it was going to be boring, but nope this is great!
Even though this is almost 45 minutes long, and it would've been fine to have skipped some parts, I was compelled to watch the entire thing. Suddenly I think I'll stick with my fashion design rather than FBF animations. I don't think I'd have the patience and consistency for this, though I might use it for practicing that. ^^; I have a whole new appreciation for animators now.
He has a graphic LCD tablet. Meaning he plugs it into the computer and he has a pen that allows him to draw on the computer in a way that is more similar to drawing on paper
Uhg, I just did my first walk going off how I saw it in the animators survival kit and it took me like three hours. Also seems trying to make a cycle where you focus on the foot being planted at a point, so you animated it in motion as you draw, seems a lot harder to keep things uniform than how you did it.
I was in complete awe when you drew then first frame with clean lines. Did you seriously not change anything in the tools' settings before you started that? I guess I'm going to have to practice my strokes harder.
I don't have questions, just "stuff to help me remind myself". I want to confirm: The torso moves up and down with each step lifting, right? Also, the weight moves to the side that carries the pressure while one leg is up in the air for each part of the walk cycle?
Thank you so much for this tutorial. Frame by frame animation is the way I want to animate things but other than a flipbook I did for a history of animation class I have had little success. Would it be possible for a future tutorial to give a list of beginner animation exercises (like this walk cycle or bouncing ball exercises) that I can use to get used to the flash tools and get a feel for simulating motion? I have tried looking online, but strangely I can't find any kind of list for this.
Jazza, I was wondering if KeyFrame animation would work in Toon Boom Animate similar to this. Suuuuuure, I know you use Flash, but I prefer Toon Boom. Thanks in advance ( to Jazza or any RUclipsr kind enough to answer this).
Hey Jazza, I've been drawing for a couple years on and off and recently got involved with animating. Just out of curiousity is there a particular reason you prefer to use Adobe Flash cs3 over Toon Boom, Adobe Flash cs6 or even 3d animating software such as Autodesk Maya?
are you using flash? there is an option to get the lines like him, i dont use flash so i dont remember, but if i found the video when he explain that ill let you know..
Around 40:00, you extended every keyframe, so they would fill two frames, but I'm not sure why... Wouldn't it be easier to just divide the fps of the animation by 2?
Animation is typically done on 2s, meaning that each image actual displays for 2 frames. Animation is also typically at 24fps. You are correct, you could drop the fps to 12 instead of doubling frames for the same effect; however, you are now limiting yourself to the number of drawings you can have per second. In the instance of fast motion, 12 fps wont be enough. For example, a run cycle for 6 frames at 24 fps is 1/4 a second. To make the same run cycle at 12 fps would only be 3 frames which would appear choppy and unreadable in most instances. You could try to resolve the choppiness by adding 3 more frames while working in 12 fps; however, that would completely change the speed of the cycle and read completely different.
that's it! i can't work on flash!!! >:| the brush tool is too clingy and weird, i can't draw with it!! everything too confusing X| i prefer using the timeline on ps tbh -.- great tut tho! :D
@John Baker I'm not Jazza, but I suggest getting Flash Cs6 or 5 and maybe even Maya AFTER flash since it's harder and you'll learn a lot about of waht relates to Maya in flash... I suggest getting a crack for the softwares if you don't want to spend $3000 and $700 for Maya, Flash and others :D
Hey Jazza, what's that you're wearing on your arm? I'm assuming its to stop your palm gripping on the screen while you're drawing- can't help but think that would be very useful.
Ok 3:25 how did you delete that part? When I press backspace with that bit selected it just deletes all the frames. And the delete key does nothing. Right clicking and removing the frame just removes a frame from the end and not the picture. HELP PLZ!
+thekatiefilms click save, or you can just make a simbol like graphic or movieclip and introduce the frames of the animation in the simbol and than just reuse the movieclip or graphic simbol
In theory it is easier but if you have multiple characters on screen all walking the same (This video is just an outline each character should have their own gait/walk) and at the same speed it looks kind of wonky.
I just can't get why do you make a new movie clip for every 'stage'? I mean why don't you just keep everything on the main timeline? The sketchy layers, all the stuff, just in separate layers on the main timeline? And animate frame by frame from there?
+Draw with Jazza can you make a 4 legged creature walk cycle
I wish I could pin this comment
currently working on a project on a app called flipaclip its going to be a 20 minute video it takes 24,800 frames im only on frame 2 lol 24,798 to go
dude there has to be an easier/quicker way??? you'd have to be a particularly energetic turtle to get to frame 24,800 ;)
+marty procter haha lol well since my phone dosent have expandable memory I will not be able to save it so I had to give up on it but one day I will complete it
im actually using that too im only on 215 frames tho
+Pokemon trainer Robin nice to figure out how long you want the animation to be so say 20 minutes what you will have to enter is the fps x minutes x 60 if you didnt know
Thanks

Man, if only livestreams existed back then.
It may be a bit old but... still helpful. Thanks past Jazza!
I redraw a lot of my lines because of how the brush smoothes it, sometimes not in the best way.
This comment had no response i made this 1.

Yonug Jazza
WHY DOES JAZZA LOOK SO DIFFERENT AND IT IS WEIRD
The old jazza
I'm new to this but does he use a type of tablet to draw on the computer? If so, what would you recommend to be a good one?
that's it! i can't work on flash!!! >:| the brush tool is too clingy and weird, i can't draw with it!! everything too confusing X| i prefer using the timeline on ps tbh -.-

you should try Toon Boom then that's what i'm using
Sonic Lightning i have it downloaded, but took one look at it and ran away, maybe i'll try it again someday XD
Great video, thanks for this :)

I'm assuming its to stop your palm gripping on the screen while you're drawing- can't help but think that would be very useful.
it s a smudgeguard that really cool to use on cintiq.

What are you wearing on your drawing hand? Great vids!

What version of Adobe Flash do you use and how much was it?
I want to animate but don't know what to use
Bloodyflower thank you
Is there a way for me to save an animation like a walk cycle so I can easily reuse it for multiple scenes?
+thekatiefilms click save, or you can just make a simbol like graphic or movieclip and introduce the frames of the animation in the simbol and than just reuse the movieclip or graphic simbol
Thank you so much!!
Great
I don't understand why you have to duplicate the frame for the symbol(twice), kinda confusing for me. Please let me know coz im just starting out.
so Does he animate the walk cycle in place and make the background move? Is that easier than moving the walk?
In theory it is easier but if you have multiple characters on screen all walking the same (This video is just an outline each character should have their own gait/walk) and at the same speed it looks kind of wonky.
Hmmmmmmmmmmmm it’s grandpa jazza!
Can you do a tutorial on how to draw clothing on people?
Jazza will you do a tutorial for walk cycle from frontal angle it could be anyone man or woman... I would really appreciate that... Thanx
why do you use that little glove? :D
I watched your new vids
His beard though!
Little Monster ikr
Noodle man- y? cuz he looks like a noodle lmao
*love the vids tho
um....how about a regular walk without arm movement...like a realistic walk or something?...
how do you move between frames using the keyboard? i tried the arrow keys but they don't do anything
use thoses
Who is this imposter???
His hair style looks a lot like Pewds in this xD
lol yep.
Im almost finished with my walk cycle.
when I put an animation inside a symbol I can't see it in the scene. Why?
@demonbob901 is it one of those Wacom cintiq tablets
does someone know other way to download the reference file, because the one on the link has been taken down
can you do a tutorial on how to draw a flying bird or dragon?
U look so different
You look like pewdiepie
David Smith ikr
David Smith the sad thing is he actually does
I just can't get why do you make a new movie clip for every 'stage'? I mean why don't you just keep everything on the main timeline? The sketchy layers, all the stuff, just in separate layers on the main timeline? And animate frame by frame from there?
