I've seen these tested on the Nürburgring here in Germany quite a while ago and with cameo. Too bad they cost almost double the Price here in Europe than what they cost in the USA. That said, the sound of the V8 is spectacular, it sounds more like an Italian V8 from a Ferrari than the typical deep growling Muscle Car V8 you're used to from American Cars. And i think it fits the Car much better than the normal deep rumbling V8. Glad to see the USA in general building more Supercars, now i hope also that Dodge brings the Viper back. Yes because they bought 3 Ferraris when they developed this Corvette. They styled it to make people wonder ifits a Ferrari from a distance. And they tried to make it sound like one. The engine in the back, the Italian suspension, all the tech. Corvette has always copied Ferrari, but now they are openly bragging about it. And yeah I have seen the Corvette on the Ring many times. But if they had managed to set some good lap time in testing, they would have launched the car with a Nurburgring lap time. They are not doing that, which means the car did not do great on the Ring. And also this new engine is a flat-plane crank like a Ferrari. There is almost no American heritage or brand identity left... Which is what I do. People often pay me good money to say these things.
I think Corvette has been a legit option ever since C5 came out - but only the cheaper variants really. This model is priced like a 911, is maybe a bit too much, 100-150k is no "mainstream sporty car" pricetag... But yes, this version really is nice, and basic models are priced around the same as Porsche Boxter or BMW M-models. For that price, Corvette is the (only) "entry level exotic car" option. Is best US sports car for sure!
When launching the zo6 you have to dial Up or down the amount of clutch slip the computer allows. It sounds like in the video they have it on the higher setting . Dial it down and it will lock up harder

That C8 looks great in orange I must admit same with that engine sound. Very much the American V8 way, 670hp as well from a smaller engine! Looking forward to seeing this in a drag race in the near future.

I'm happy this car was featured on the channel ,they did great with it ,sounds so good and looks gorgeous ,many said they'd love to own it .Usually I don't give a damn but I followed Jesse on ig ,he's a nascar driver ,awesome dude .
The wheel and tire issue is with the optional carbon fiber wheels. They were getting damaged so most dealers stopped dealing g with them. Dealers had to buy a special attachment or some even had to buy a new machine all together. The carbon fiber wheels are the only ones they are charging more for.
perhaps at least part of the reason the 0 to 60 was disappointing had to do with Jesse certainly has the track settings dialed in which is -2 degrees of camber in the rear, and while that helps cornering it also definitely hinders straight line acceleration.
It didn't look like traction was the problem Matt. It felt like the car was hanging in low revs for a second or more before really getting going on every run. I'd be interested in seeing someone get 2.6 seconds . Thanks for the review as always.
Yeah sounded to me like it needed at least 1000 rpm more on the launch, was well down in the revs. Clutch engage time also sounded quite long. My guess is the claimed time was done with revised s/w.

Mat seems to launch the cars pretty damn well. I would love to see that Z06 on a prepped surface and see if it could get any closer to its claimed 0-60mph time.
With that being said, that was a very poor surface to try and launch on. There's been many videos launching much harder, and quicker than this, not on prepped surfaces. That road looked very dusty, being in the desert. Not a great place, for sure.
I got on a list with my dealer for the Z06 and ended up around #33, then they dropped it on my that after getting their first one in, they were only getting 1 per year. So now I’m on a list to get a ZR1, which I’m #3 for :)

Pretty sure the big thing hindering his 0-60 is the fact that the offset was changed, and then he has run flats as well which have a hard sidewall, making it more difficult to launch.
Basically, my 5-seater M550i Sedan, which cost me around 50k, has a similar 0-60 time as this Z06. Wow, US cars have become really expensive in terms of price/performance. Greetings to every car enthusiast from Europe :)!
Compare the track time of your big heavy M5 to that of the Z06 on any track it on which it has been tested, it is not even remotely close to the Z. Hello from the US.
the 0-60 is a whole second lower cus you have the roof open. When the roof is open, you're jus giving the air the that you're flying though just goes inside the car through the open roof. Which when it goes inside the car, increases the downforce which is increasing the weight put on the car, which leads to the lower 0-60. To find the right and optimal 0-60 time, keeping the roof closed, which will decrease the downforce by a significant amount leading to a faster 0-60 time.
Been waiting for this one! Can’t wait to see it in a Car Wow drag race video! I’d love to see it against a Lamborghini Aventador or Ferrari 458 Speciale. But of course the track is where it’s truly a monster!
I have a standard 23’ C8 and I’m doing 3.0s flat all day long. I’ll get 2.9 sometimes. I found that the key to get best 0-60 is heating up the tires really good and deflating rear tires to 27psi or lower.
@@samiwasti8400 I’ve had 2 M4’s and love M’s. But honestly outgrown them. Every 16 year old has one down here in Miami. Performance probably +1 for your M3 but C8 beats it in every other category. Not to mention c8 is a true head turner, only heads I had turned with my M4 were golf GTI dudes and college kids.

If you're going to track your C8, or drive it agressively, a Speedway Composites Chassis Strut X Brace. It stiffens the chassis and improves control in corners, and stops squeaks on curbs.
To be fair, Mat has probably more drag race experience than 95% of all race car drivers in the world. By now he must be considered an expert on drag racing. Who has done more drags with different cars than him?

I love this generation of Corvette, but I still kinda prefer the last one.
The C6 was the last generation that still looked like a Corvette. The C7 and especially C8 look like like they’re trying to be European exotics.
Some prefer character over numbers. I prefer euro supersports but if I wanted a vette I would want the older design.

the 0-60 is a whole second lower cus you have the roof open. When the roof is open, you're jus giving the air the that you're flying though just goes inside the car through the open roof. Which when it goes inside the car, increases the downforce which is increasing the weight put on the car, which leads to the lower 0-60. To find the right and optimal 0-60 time, keeping the roof closed, which will decrease the downforce by a significant amount leading to a faster 0-60 time.

I have the same opinion. The standard C8 is ugly. This on the other hand looks awesome.

I have a standard 23’ C8 and I’m doing 3.0s flat all day long. I’ll get 2.9 sometimes. I found that the key to get best 0-60 is heating up the tires really good and deflating rear tires to 27psi or lower.

Exactly why I didn’t get a C8. I get 3.1/3.2 all day long, sometimes 3.05s. In a 4 door AWD sedan. Stock btw

@@samiwasti8400 I’ve had 2 M4’s and love M’s. But honestly outgrown them. Every 16 year old has one down here in Miami. Performance probably +1 for your M3 but C8 beats it in every other category. Not to mention c8 is a true head turner, only heads I had turned with my M4 were golf GTI dudes and college kids.
When a German manufacturer says 2.6 s, it's actually 1.9 s.
Same especially bmw. If 160hp actually it's 200hp++
And when usa say 2.6 they mean 3.6
Let's keep in mind that 1 American hp is equivalent to 0.68 Italian hp or 0.51 German hp.

I do as well but I think the buttons down the center are not going to age well. I would have put air vents and some super big and stupid size drink holder fold out thingy for the passenger but HOLY CRAP the rest of the interior is all sorts of drooly.
If I had the money I'd change the steering wheel from 🟥 to ⭕️

If you're going to track your C8, or drive it agressively, a Speedway Composites Chassis Strut X Brace. It stiffens the chassis and improves control in corners, and stops squeaks on curbs.
To be fair, Mat has probably more drag race experience than 95% of all race car drivers in the world. By now he must be considered an expert on drag racing. Who has done more drags with different cars than him?
