Vera seemed very excited with the Grenadier and Christian secretly loves it.😉
Christian, you’re gas, the rest of us maintain our discos and hope for no issues and you go and buy one with loads of issues! We have a saying here in Ireland, “you are a glutton for punishment” 😅
Land rovers are reliable if you maintain them
"When Vera is driving I can hit the emergency stop". Sold!
Hello Christian and Vera, good idea the video for the detail of the parts of the discovery 3. Thank you for the video, good Sunday 👏
@22.41, you could 'plastic weld' the old one & keep it as a spare, plastic welding is quite easy to do & the rods are available on ebay, all you need is a soldering iron to melt the plastic & fuse the two together with the plastic rods
Say it out LOUD Christian Unimog.
Not anytime soon unfortunately. When we are ready to travel at 80 kmh, then we'll get a Unimog. Might take another 20 years. 🙋♀️Vera
@@Vera_and_Christian Don’t give up on dream 🛌
New Mall Crawler, with multiple leaks. Game on!
We really hope it doesn't have multiple leaks. Just one major one. 😅👍🙋♀️Vera
Looking foward to the new mall crawler videos :D
3 wiper blades you have the legendary UMM Alter for example :)
As always, entertainment for a Sunday morning while walking my dog… even without LR.
Looking forward to seeing your new mall crawler content, though 😊
What year is the new D4?
i need a single cab pickup of these
Double cab for me please. 😀👍🙋♀️Vera
@@Vera_and_Christian hi
Toyota fj cruiser has three wipes😅😅😅
It would be fun, you buy one)))
😅👍They just take too much gas, unfortunately. 🙋♀️
My touareg can be used in low range without the center diff been locked
Lockable in high range. Tuareg does not do that as far as I know. Christian
Always interested in your Land Rover escapades, you produce videos with humour and technical knowledge. Good work guys.
Kurt seems like a excited tutor .It would have been nice to just get on with it .Enjoyed your video once Kurt vanished
Sorry guys but it is Not a Landrover
By the way in a LR Defender you can also select low ratio with or without the central diff locked ,of course this is very useful as it avoids needless stress on the drive train when driving over rough ground were the wheels are unlikely to slip and just engage centre diff lock as required.
This prevents or at least minimises transmission windup which happens on part time4x4systems when off road on hard terrain .
Love your channel
Same as my 2003 VW Touareg.
Wait, what? Being able to engage low range with the centre diff unlocked is a "unique feature"? Have they never driven Land Rovers?
You can nót compare old cars with new ones. Nowadays, everything is electronically engaged.
@@Vera_and_Christian I'm not sure what point you are making. Engaging low range without locking the centre diff is not a "unique feature", it's been around for at least 50 years.
Land Rovers don’t leak oil they just mark their territory.
Hi classic rangerovers and defenders had hi/ low with or without centerdifflock
Yes but we have 2022 and drive crossover Suvs. Its not unique but good. Christian
all the land Rover defenders and discos I had the ability to shift in and out of hi lo range without engaging centre diff lock. And you can shift out of low range into hi range without stopping. Works great when climbing Rocky Mtn passes with a trailer/
Yes, I bet with a bit of practice you can shift if the vehicle is moving. Works on our lr3 also. Christian
This vehicle is too clever for its own good. Too many electronic things to go wrong. I will stay with my Discovery 300tdi.
Yeah if I win the lotto I'll buy one... but for now I'm very happy with my Disco 3! Nice Vid you guys!
Problem is when you've got a good Discovery 4 HSE, nothing else will compare!
Good video. You had a great day out.
I think I would buy a Grenadier over a new land cruiser,, b m w, engine,, zf gearbox, class,,love the channel
Great content on the Grenadier Vera and Christian thank you! I’m very keen to see and hear about the new Mall Crawler and it’s acquisition. Cheers from the UK
The grenadier not sold or will be sold in USA I believe, I do like the box look but if I had a choice to chose the defender I take the defender but for me I cannot justify going into debt over 30k on any vehicle because its new , I'm sure it's the same in Germany vehicle in USA for your dream car 50 to 100k is crazy when most people incomes are the same inflation out of control in USA have not been this crazy sense the eighties the new jeep wagonneer starts at 100k only certain people can buy this new many will wait for used sale in 5 years as I said i got my 2007 lr3 she used for 1100. When it was new 57k and I drop about 5k in upgrades and I have no car payment and in free to work less , but I'm no dream killer to anyone if someone wants that I say buy it as I get older I don't want the debt on a vechile that in 5 years be worth considerable less , my dream car is a Bentley continental speed around a 2009 year new in 09 well over 200k I can now buy this car 75k but this makes me sound like a hypocrite, but it's a Bentley my dream car , you only live once zoom zoom
BMW engines do work with that weight of oil; right up until the point when they spin a rod bearing
Then we as Land Rover owners feel right at home. No problem at all. 👍If we get one, it will have seen the last 5W30 and the last of the warranty. 😅🙋♀️
Isn't that a M problem? The petrol version in the Grenadier is supposed to be the same thing Toyota approved to put into the Supra.
Why do we never see Mark Evans anymore, he was flogging this project right from the beginning , now nowhere to be seen?
The big question now is. How good is the Grenadier on the Autobahn from Hamburg to Munchen. What is the top speed and how big is the fuel tank. What is the price for a full spec one. As always, take care and love from Sweden ☕👍
We will do a on road test drive in November. Christian
I decided to watch this again, when Ford was designing the Transit in 1964 they asked tradesmen people what they wanted in a van before they built it & it became an iconic van, this is what Ineos seem to be doing finding out what people want from the Grenadier which is a very good idea
We agree with you. 😀👍🙋♀️Vera
I like the Discovery 3/4 much better, I had a 3 with 180,000 miles and now I have a mall crawler with 99,000 miles…..love them!!!
I’ve just hit 189k miles on my D4 SDV6 HSE - never misses a beat and can’t bear thinking about parting with it - nothing compares. Weirdly I’m more in love with this one than I ever was with my 5.0l Supercharged RR - it was way too luxurious and expensive compared to the ‘do it all’ Disco 😊
Mmm. not sure, I think I'll keep my real Defender (for now)
The low gears without needing the diff-lock engaged is maybe a special feature to the Grenadier but all Defenders and Mk.1 Disco's have had exactly that forever.
Yes, they have HAD that forever. He talking about NEW vehicles with that feature.
Thank you Jase. 👍💪🙏🙋♀️Vera
That is really nice. I like all the aircraft switches. No carpet - excellent feature.
Hi classic rangerovers and defenders had hi/ low with or without centerdifflock
Nicely done. I reserved a Grenadier but still unsure about the price. Love my 2016 LR4. For the price of the Grenadier I could fix everything on my Land Rover for the rest of my life.
I had reserve too, until I went out in one,. Just did not have the same 'presence, as D3/4
Disco 1 and some Disco 2 have center locking diff exactly same, you can have 4L with center diff locked or unlocked. Nice touch with ASPW :)) he would love it.
Just looks like a defender rip off. I'll stick with the real one.
Defenders and discovery2/1 can change from high to low without diff in and with diff in .
Great video
As I recall so could my Range Rover Classic
These are 30 year old cars. You have to look at new SUVs and compare apples with apples. And nowadays, everything is regulated electronically. 🙋♀️
@@Vera_and_Christian By the way there is now a 10-40 beer, to go with your 10-40 oil
@@Colinpark I know 😅Someone send me a picture of that beer last week. Wish he would have send me the beer can. 😀🙋♀Vera
I'm not a fan of the Grenadier , but it does have some nice features ( probably very expensive options ).
Can't wait to see your new Disco 4 .
Those locking wheel nuts are a pain to get off , once you air chisel the rotating cap bit off ( took me hours ) , you can hammer on a 12 point socket to remove what's left .
I am so disappointed in how they are going to increase the cars price by upto $13,000
From a business stand point, I can see where they are coming from but from a consumer stand point knowing that this is their first car at that price point is ridiculous. I really wanted this car but it’s just too damn expensive at this point
Yes, it already was expensive but now it moved out of range. Christian
I'm old fashioned I prefer mechanical to electrical!
This Car is allready DEAD MEAT ... Overpriced as Hell
Think I'd still prefer the new Defender if I had the money, but it looks a lot better compared to the pre-pro vehicles....it's just a bit of a mishmash of old and new tech and expensive!
The announcement of the new Mall Crawler saved my subscription 😅😂. Jokes aside, I always look forward to tuning in on a Sunday. I’m just buying all the parts for a brake rebuild on my D4, so will be following the next few episodes with interest. Best, Ty.
“Climate activist!” I about fell out of my chair laughing. 😂. I replayed that several times.
And now I have to go pick up my wife in Alsfeld what's that 260 km round trip.....bye...Tschuß!
Alsfeld? Love it and I always stay at the Hotel Pfefferhöhe 🥰👍🏻
It was interesting to hear Christian speaking Hessian (babbeln). I would love to follow a conversation between you and Sebastian Vettel.😁
Now we know the reason why there has always been so little content about a D4. Exited to see what is coming up next with the latest member of your vehicle fleet.👍
You guys are a pleasure to watch. Love your sense of humor. It’s going to be interesting to see how the Ineos sells. It’s a copy of a model that could barely sell towards the end of its model life, but who knows. Lots of people seem to like the idea. Personally, I’m more than happy to allow computers to do more of the decision making on when to lock diffs, and other advanced off road features of my new defender, and I’m more than happy with the compromise of all independent suspension for better road handling at the cost of extreme rock crawling. It’s so much easier to cross varied terrain with the modern LR terrain controls and automatic lockers doing the thinking for me that it would be a big step down to go manual again. I get the allure of less tech, but I’m all in on the benefits of modern computers and electronics, and unless I’m crossing the African continent, can’t see going back. Regardless, most Ineos are going to end up parked next to G-Wagons at Whole Foods, so who are we kidding.
This car may also be a competitor to Toyota for the UN and commercial use cases. Not right away but down the road. Christian
Another great production. How you find the time to do all this is amazing. Video editing alone takes forever. Are you sure there is not a 20 person production team behind the scenes? TV companies could learn a lot from you guys.
Re: The Grenade (sic): Fuses under the rear seat? Not good for a loaded overlander. High tech main gear shifter, but a tractor knob for range change! There is nothing new nor unique about that transfer box and centre diff control arrangement, it came in with the Land Rover 90 in 1989, went in to Disco 1 and 2 and continued until the end of Defender production. Personally, I don't see what's wrong with an electronically controlled centre diff, it's seamless.
I like having all the temps etc available on the screen, without having to use an aftermarket tool, such as the IID. So much of the good stuff on the Grenade (sic) is copied from older Land Rover and LR aftermarket / owner mods, even the bottle jack and proper tools, which all LR had until 2005. The lack of air suspension is just a deal killer for me, even if I would consider buying one, which I couldn't as I despise the owner of the company.
You both sound like you want to buy one. That would be a sad day. We can't lose you 2 from the Discovery Family. A new Mall Crawler because your old one didn't break? My D4 rock crawler has only broken once in 335,000km, (OK it was the big break) but that's why I love it. So is the new Mall Crawler a Black edition 5.0 V8?
Regarding the new D4 and your IID tool. If you contact Patrick at GAP, he will probably allow you to swap the VINs on your IID from the old D4 to the new D4 without the extra VIN fee.
I agree with you about the display, it saves them money having a centre console with LHD and RHD vehicles, but I think it is a mistake with their current drivers display.
Looks like a LR copy... will take them some time to equal LR in performance, dealers, fit and finish, features, etc.
Too bad they didn't take the opportunity to make it electric since they made a new design.
? Has a hydraulic jack included... "What a sweet touch"... my year 2000 Disco2 has one of these... true innovation?
My old Toyota Land Cruiser (vintage 60s) had a better tool set.
Only Christian and Vera can sell a Discovery 4 with no problems, because it is boring.
Hard to believe that a Land-rover without any problem actually exists!
For 18 months 😳. Christian
@@Vera_and_ChristianNo problem for 18 months! OH MY GOD!!
I love everything about this vehicle EXCEPT how it lacks a speedometer IN LINE OF SIGHT. I hate that you have to look to the side for the speed.
Also…not sure about a BMW. I’m a BMW fan but I cannot stand their lack of reliability and too much plastic engine parts..like water pumps, cooling system Etc.
That grenadier looks too complicated! Too much to go wrong.
Oh Please, we all are Land Rovery Discovery owners. We certainly can handle everything. 😀💪🙋♀️Vera
Too much electronics for a real expedition vehicle, no option of manual transmission. If you get stuck in the middle of nowhere you can not push start this vehicle nor can you tow it in regular road speed. The BMW engine and ZF gearbox are loaded with electronics.
Hello Toyotists! On what the 3 window wipers is concerned, please have a look at the mighty UMM ALTER TURBO! All the very best
Be good if the final production model had plenty of spare switch blanks with OEM switches available for additional purchase for those wishing to add their own equipment.
Haha the climate activist line was the best. Move over Greta
Taking a very long time to get market retail ready vehicles. They have also refinanced for 2023. Up to 1.2 billion so far total! Going to need to sell lot. The British Army needs to change its LR Defender/ Wolf. They need to produce cheaper basic model
Grenadier is to heavy and to expensive. In Germany they wanted to sell it for 38.000 Euros, now we are at 58.000 Euros up ... 🤣🤣🤣
They are not selling it for 58000€, I can tell you that. 😀🙋♀️Vera
@@Vera_and_Christian were did my answer go with the prices starting at €59.990 in Germany???
21:17 I have two shelves for car parts like that. It becomes necessary when you own and maintain too many vehicles 😂
I bet you do 😂. The one we showed was purely for our LR3.
Love your videos, as a current LR3 owner in the US they are much appreciated.
Thank you!
Christian, can nog waiht for the coming video’s
And a grenadier is nog a Discovery!
Love the discovery 4 hse Fantastic car!
Go one you two,
Hvl,❤
There is absolutely no reason for another vehicle manufacturer specializing in a 4wd vehicle. Unless it’s a lot cheaper and basic than what is currently on the market. IMO.
I don’t know of an other new vehicle on the market. 🤔 Don’t say Jeep or Bronco or G Waggon. They are not in this league. And please don’t refer to the Stone Age Toyota what cruiser. Christian
The point of this car was to make a replacement for the original, functional, basic, repairable and beautiful Defender with improvements to some of the dumb things like having to have your arm sticking out of the window to fit in the driver's area...built in the UK..and practical like the first one for farmers and rough terrain.
You see that original late model Defender was one of the most beautiful things on the road.
Why Land Rover did not upgrade it a little and offer it in the US is something that makes no sense.
Was Joe Biden in charge of Land Rover at the time ?
Love how Vera says “We should test it in the darrrk!” 😂😂 Love you guys
I will tell you a car is got 3 wiper blades it is UMM ALTER a potuguses jeep made on the 80's and 90's
And they steel going and running!!!
To Yota FJ has 3 wipers...
;)
The Ineos is better than the land rover in my opinion. Reason is better rear doors , separate chassis and it wouldn't matter if you dent it a little. I'm not a fond lover of BMW as there over priced parts and I don't think value for money. If it was fitted with a Toyota engine that would definitely be the car for me if I had the money to spend . Sadly I don't have the money to just spend on a new vehicle as I've just retired and have no need for unnecessary things now . Good vid . Lovely lady .❤❤❤❤
This was the much vaunted post brexit project to be built in Wales by arch brexiter Ratcliffe... who went on to renege on this and build it in France... I don't give two hoots for Ratcliffe, but hope it is a success for the people who build it.
Vera (who is always happy and smiling) "it's the perfect car for getting duurty!" Christian, knowing his audience, looks at us down the camera lens "she means muddy!" 🤣 brilliant, love your videos.
Well your feelings really mirror mine , I’ve had a good crawl over the Grenadier at the Goodwood Revival the last few year’s and have been very impressed with the thought that’s gone into this vehicle in every respects it’s everything a Defender never was or could have been and I’ve been working on Landrovers for work and pleasure if you can call it that the last 38 years 😅
“She means with mud okay” 😂😂😂😂😂😂 love it
Kurt reminds me of that show where the TV presenter was fired for laughing at the unfortunate chap with the squeaky voice. Kurts the unfortunate chap with the squeaky voice bless him!
The placement of the Grenadier instrument cluster is very disappointing. It is precisely where a short wave transceiver should be placed so the driver can operate it without looking down. How could this detail have really been missed?
Hahahaha Reminds you of Andrew St. Pierre White. translation: Arschloch. I love your sense of humour.
Hmmm, Kurt was a really nice guy. Just his voice and look reminded me of Andrew. Christian
@@Vera_and_Christian yes, he did seem nice 👍🏻. Andrew on the other hand 🥸
@@jdenmark1287 I met Andrew SPW at the Bad Kissingen show a while back (in the Toyota tent !)
He was perfectly affable, chatting happily to an idiot like me on drone issues.
@@philhealey449 I confess, I have never met him in person, so I’m completely ignorant of what he is like in that situation.
I do not care for his video personality at all. He comes across to me as a completely pretentious wind bag. The information he dispenses with in these videos is often biased, not original, lacks nuance and sounds like a little old lady gossiping about neighbors over the back fence.
Other than that he’s probably a nice guy 👍🏻
Christian & Vera can you get a 3.6l Range Rover Sport and work your magic? Not much content for them.
Dash Needs TOTAL RE-HASH !!!!!!
Steering Wheel looks Dated
Its a NO from me at this stage !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Has some great features but that BMW gear shifter looks out of place in this car. In South Africa, where i live the fact that those 2 sunroofs cant ever be closed to stop the sun shining in is going to be a problem
Steyr is underneath it so no worries. ZF no problem at all. BMW Engine are a great but don't know how they holds up in real dirty world
like it its a basic, base model 4x4 wagon true off roader , not a 3 row luxury wagon with 7 screens 2 sunroofs power every thing one can do with and for the vallet parking at posh resort
Hi, we sold our LR3 V8 three years ago (nearly 300.000 kms and never problems with engine or gearbox, but always with the breaks !) and we are still mourning…until last weekend, when we also drove the IG. My wife also with Kurt (she said: he‘s the best). And I‘m so happy now that I ordered the IG Trialmaster (petrol one) already in May. Especially after seeing both of you liking the IG very much !! Keep on posting your always very entertaining and helpful videos .
You guys are funny. I’m gonna subscribe
😊👌🙏🙋♀️Vera
first impression ... interested if you agree. The steering wheel appeared small and I am not sure I like the central information unit. It does give a good view of the terrain in front of the wheel though.
Hallo Vera, hallo Christian, ihr habt ja eine richtig lange Probefahrt gemacht, bei Matzker waren es knapp 5 km über Feldwege. Ich habe euch via Instagram meine Eindrücke geschickt. Gruß Stefan
Interesting video, as always, thanks. It looks like your new "Mall Crawler" is the face-lifted D4 as I noticed the black surround of the rear lights, rather than the red surround of the earlier D4. Looking forward to seeing the videos on it.
No good in Aussie. they got a fuel tank the size of a teacup. It would be flat out getting you out of the city. Still, they do look the part.
Hi , your both always fun to watch , so much knowledge , hidden between those ears , dispensed to help others , enjoy their LR,s . Please keep the videos coming . Take care .
All land rovers can be reliable aslong as you maintain them altho disco 3s are quite dodgy 😂
Great video guys. I think the new Defender looks nicer than the Grenadier, but it's way too expensive. Looking forward to the new content on the new LR4, as I have an LR4 as well and there are differences to the LR3. I will let you know how its been going with my Turbo swap later on. I had a massive problem because a bolt snapped off in the exhaust manifold, and then on top of that I snapped the extractor off in the bolt!!! Massive problem getting it out... but I will update you later. Keep the content going, its awesome!
I think the new Defender looks like a 4x4 designed specifically for Barbie. That front end is cartoon-like.
OMG, respect for your work, especially with a body on.👍🙋♀️
Great content as always. A Land Rover with no problems - are you sure it was a Land Rover?
Interesting video, but the instructor honestly doesn't know what he is talking about... you can enable low-range on a D3/D4/D5/Defender etc without locking the center differential!!
I OFTEN put my D5 in to low-range for towing the horse trailer or water-trailer, and don't have to have the center diff locked!!
Maybe I translated wrong. Christian
Just listened to the German, and he clearly says that you “can only do this mechanically”. But the D3,D4,D5 etc all do it with an electronics central diff that can be used in high and low range.
These sales people always make it sound as though their system is the best and the greatest!!
I would honestly love to see a comparison (side to side) between a Grenadier and a D5!
If you buy one… contact me and we will D5 and we will have to find an off-road circuit to do together!!
Nicholas is right! This Instructor does not know what he is talking about!
So guys is it thumbs up for Grendier over a Land Rover defender or Disco?
Yes if you have a disco or free lander they love putting their big hands in your pocket
Very cool review! Thanks for showing us the Ineos Grenadier. Would love to get one in the near future!

The newly revealed eight-seat, three-row Defender is 13.4 inches longer than the next smallest member of the Defender family, the 110.
Power will come from a choice of two 3.0-liter turbocharged six-cylinder engines.
The longer Defender will start at $69,350.
I want the new defender 130 but I know 69.350 is a dream price stripped down version well equipped well over 120k I'm sure
I'll take the new 130 too. And I'd like to take it on a test drive, or at least have a look at it. They did not even bring it to the biggest Expo we have here in mainland Europe. Also, Land Rover does not have any at their dealerships, at least here in Germany. But you don't even get a 90, with coils, for nearly the price you are stating. 🙋♀️
Learning a lot all the videos you post; and really enjoyed the input on the Grenadier. Thank you guys. 😃
zum lachen das Denglisch und den Instruktor dazu in "Schweizerdütsch". It das Kommedy?
I'm not a fan of having critical gauges on right of the driving position.
Vera will finally get her radio! Looking forward to the installation. That Ineos is pretty nice!
