  • We finally bought our first Range Rover. Our viewers tell us constantly how good that car is and we don´t quite belive it. We selected the L405 with the full aluminium body and the TDV8 engine. In this episode you see our first impressions and experience with this british high end car.
    We are not liable for any harm you do to your car, your engine, your surroundings or yourself. Use the information given in this video at your own risk.

    4.4 V8 is an excellent choice and the 405 is a great chassis. One thing to check is the front wheel knuckles for cracks around the upper balljoint area. It is becoming a common failure point and there is a recall out in the UK for them at the moment.

      Spot on , just bought the 4.4. V8 L405 autobiography
      Great vehicle but also just had the front suspension knuckles replaced on mine and the ace valve block failed , nasty bill off the bat …
      However , its a great beast of a car , i love it …

      Is a good engine although the jaguar 5.0 supercharger AJV8 block from late 2010 have more punch and is more reliable appart than maintenance that is cheaper since is faster and easier to disassemble the chassis (4 hours the most to separate ) from the body than disconnecting all engine plugs and lowering the engine itself( 7 hours job to unplug it all ).An engine swap would improve alot the performance of the L405 + this model weight at least 200 KG less than my L320. 🤨 although 🫣 is it still possible to separate chassis from the rest on the L405.

    I have a 2013 L320 and 2012 L322 both with the Supercharged 5.0 and a 2019 L405 with the supercharged petrol V6. By far, my favorite is the L322. Biggest downfall for all three units is they terrible interior storage space given the exterior size of all three vehicles. The LR3 and LR4 are superior for cargo capacity.

    Great, welcome to the club. We imported a 2015 SDV L405 autobiography from Hamburg to the Netherlands 3 years ago and it was the best decision ever. When we bought it it barely had 40kkm on it, which triggered me as a car that has never been properly run in, and that proved to be true. We had some minor things as dryed out suspension bushings, a cracked thermostate housing etc. At 100kkm we had to replace the brake discs which was a big wow to discover they were the orginal ones. The radio we replaced by an android head unit which is highly recommendable and really updates the interface you have with the car as a driver. At the moment the RR is at 125kkm and we recently decided to keep driving it till the new one is sort of affordable. In order to prevent discussions about the 4,4/Co2 emissions (I work in the renewable energy sector) we use the envi friendly fuel HVO100, which makes the car run smoothly, quiter and has no smoking/smell at all. We have it eco tuned as well so it runs at 400hp if you want, but in reality it is more of a low rpm 140 a 150kmh highway cruiser, which it does at can 7a8l/100km. Love your channel by the way :) almost made me buy a Discovery 3 years ago LOL.

    A few moons ago, I worked for JLR at Gaydon (architecture engineering team) and I borrowed a L494 Sport autobiography dynamic (SDV8) management car for a weekend. That engine with two working turbos is fantastic to drive day to day. Good to see you went for the autobiography.
    Does it have timed climate?
    There is/was also a front steering knuckle/upright issue where the top bolt arrangement has dissimilar metal corrosion and the aluminium would shear off, but I'm not sure what VIN range was effected.

    I had to look up what a mis-fueling device is. For those that don't know, there is a flap in the filler neck that actuates and mostly blocks the passageway when a smaller diameter gasoline (petrol) fuel nozzle is accidently inserted. Looks like a pretty neat mechanism.

    Fantastic! Merry Christmas from Perth Australia! When I decided I needed to go back to having a Land Rover instead of my N1559N Y62, I was set on a D4 after missing my D3. However, regularly towing a 3.5tonnes loaded caravan I was advised to play safe and bought a 2015 RR L405 SDV8 Vogue SE. Only had it a couple of months so far. 11.1 l/100km towing! Half the fuel consumption of the Y62! My wife and I both being tall, love having seat bases that once again fully extend to the full length of our thighs instead of only half way (sorry Vera). Looking forward to next week’s video already!

    Hi guys! From the UK and love watching your stuff. As a slightly ashamed but very happy RR owner you should not leave the key in the car. There is a LR TSB somewhere explaining that with the keyless entry, with the keys in close proximity to the vehicle that many modules 'stay alive'. For complete shutdown the keys should be several meters away. After a very flat battery you might also want to run the batter cal again. Enjoy! Looking forward to new videos about this new car.

    • @GT380man
      @GT380man 7 месяцев назад

      A policeman friend of our family advised a Faraday bag for our keyless entry / keyless start Range Rover Evoque (2017 300PS petrol Autobiography Auto). He told they’re otherwise quite easy to steal, without the key. Something to do with eliciting a response from the key job & using whatever codes are intercepted to enter & operate the vehicle.
      I know it’s absolutely nothing compared with your Queen, and I do love the look & poise of all the biggest RR. We don’t need the capability even of the Evoque and have restricted parking where we live. But, it drives beautifully, my wife (the real owner!) loves everything about it, especially commanding driving position, the power, the refinement and load carrying ability. It also feels like it’s built up to a standard and not down to a price.
      Weird things are happening in the used car market in U.K. After a few years of absurd & somewhat frightening run-up in prices we now have more or less a collapse in values, except at the “cheerful cheapie” end of the market. Luxury car prices for such as RR, Audi and even Porsche are really falling. I’ve seen 10-20% price drops into the current winter. I’m almost tempted to buy a 911 😊

I guess it’s the same in most European countries, you can hardly have a driver travelling along watching TV can you.

    Congratulations on the new car guys! The 4.4 V8 Diesel is a fantastic engine and the Autobiography is a stunning spec as well! I hope you both really enjoy the new car as I’m really looking forward to seeing your content on it! Once you’ve done the 4.4 video’s you’ll need to get yourselves a 5.0 then! 😊 I hope you have a great Christmas!

    Love it! Once I've used up my L322, I might have to upgrade to an L405. I didn't realize it was so much like an S-Class inside 😍

    • @Vera_and_Christian
      @Vera_and_Christian  8 месяцев назад +1

      The L322 is not really an improvement over our 2016 HSE Discovery but the L405 is significantly more modern and offers many more useless features. The 740 Nm Diesel is quite impressive and does not consume more than our 3 L. It drives more like a S Class and does not feel like a Truck - which sucks a bit. We’ll do a compare I think.

    Good choice, I’ve got a 2017 5.0SC with a stage 1 remap, K&N air filters, a reduced top supercharger pulley and a quicksilver exhaust system, previously I had a 2012 L322 Tdv8. Enjoy your L405, keep the brilliant content coming, Merry Christmas and a happy and prosperous New Year to you both and your family
