Thank you for reviewing the non-competition version. This is literally the only review of the PDP SF 4.5” anywhere on YT. I want one of these for my bedside gun, but everyone’s fawning over the PDP SF Q5, so the 4” and 4.5” have no info available from gun channels. Great video!

@@boomee78 The difference between a 4” and 5” barrel can be pretty drastic in 9mm. For example, the PPQ 5” shoots like an absolute dream, while the PPQ 4” is a bit snappy. When a machine is operating at the speed of sound, very small details can make a big difference.

I just sold my polymer Walther PDP 4" compact because of the snappy muzzle rise and its slow return-to-zero. I focused on my grip at great lengths and could shoot it decent but it forced me think too much about my grip on rapid fire and double taps. I loved the pistol accuracy and reliability. I will very likely grab a 4.5" PDP-SF and see how that does. Thanks for the nice intro to this model. Well done!

I have been waiting 2 weeks for my plate. I ended up taking the plate off one of my other PDP’s so I can use an optic in my SF. I also emailed Walther a short video showing a trigger issue I was experiencing well over a week ago, asking for a recommendation or if I should submit a warranty claim, and have not had any response. The SF 5” is my 3rd PDP and I have to say, I am really disappointed with the customer service related to this firearm. The service was stellar with my previous 2 purchases.

I’m surprised that all the steel frame PDP’s don’t come with the performance trigger ? I did a double take when I saw her fussing with the standard trigger shoe. Apparently, only the 5” Match SF version has the trigger upgrade and the magwell OotB. This 4.5 version seems like an unnecessary step between the standard PDP / SD Pro and the competition ready 5” SF Match ? Any gamer buying this gun is likely going to want to take the duty trigger out and install the Dynamic Performance Trigger .

Use at least 124GR ammo. I doubt you will have wait (nevermind). LOL Every plate varies in time to get to the person. The Walther FB forums are full of nothing but complaints about the plate. Look at the upgraded Walther trigger. For a point of reference, the PDP Pro full-sized should have that trigger and be very close to the grip you have now. Hope that helps.

    Great review, thank you.
I'm wondering if economically it would make sense for gun companies to approach optics manufacturers, and invite them to subsidize the cost of providing the plates.
If I were Holocene for example, I would happily pay a couple of dollars for every gun distributed if it went with my plate, and other companies didn't choose to do that so that the convenient option for every customer was to use my product.
Alternatively, Walther can simply choose to always provide the most popular plate at the moment with the gun, and if you want anything else then you have to order it the way you described. That way, even if you don't need that provided plate, it would be useful if you want to resell the gun, again, because it is the most popular plate.
    -Cheers

Then, when I changed my mind and asked about getting a different one, they didn't bother charging me for it, just sent it for free. I have small hands and have the same issue with the PDP-F 3.5” that I own. I’m ready to purchase my first competition gun and this one is one that I am considering since I’m already familiar with the PDP platform. However, I can’t seem to find anyone (I’ve left comments on every RUclips video/review I can find) that can use a caliper and tell me the measured trigger reach so I can compare it to my current gun. I’ve even called Walther and they couldn’t tell me and it wasn’t on the schematic that they sent me or looked at themselves. These guns just shipped to distributors in the past two weeks and there are none in my area to see how it fits in my hand. I’m assuming this is the PDP Steel Frame Compact based on the barrel length. Any chance you can tell me the measured trigger reach?
