  • At Shot Show 2024, Walther debuts their new PDP Steel Frame series pistols. Expanding on the popular polymer PDP line, the steel frames come in full size 5” and new 4.5” lengths, along with a 4” compact model. Replacing the Q5 match pistol, the 5” flagship offers a flush fitting 18 round magazine, optics ready slide, weight reducing lightening cuts, and Walther’s Dynamic Performance Trigger for a premium match-grade setup right from the factory.
The new 4.5” duty-style option provides a full grip and 18 rounds without the lightening cuts. For concealed carry, the 4” compact has a shorter frame with 15 round flush mags. Aftermarket support for triggers and grips is maintained across the line thanks to compatibility with the polymer models. With configurations from full competition guns to compact concealment, the PDP steel series caters to a wide range of shooters. Key features carried over include optics ready slides, a smooth trigger pull and high capacity magazines. The PDP steel variations provide more size and weight options over previous steel Walther pistols.

During 2021 I purchased my first Walther. I chose the Q4 over the PDP because it's steel. Now I will probably purchase a PDP Steel frame.

How do you like carrying the q4 and how do you carry it? I’ve thought of getting a premium carry gun that can double for uspsa matches, but the q4 seems like it would be heavy. Adding a full magazine would be somewhere around 45oz I think. What are your thoughts?

@@Noc___ It is heavier than many guns. If You have a quality holster and belt, it isn't a problem. I'm 6 ft. 160 pounds and I can cary it all day. It may not be the ideal conceal carry pistol for some people.

Wish they offered steel frames you could buy and use to replace the stock polymer ones.

That Walther guy is full of it when he says the pro comes with everything people would normally change out or add. I have one. Great trigger, but It has the same crap, non-cowitnessable plastic sights as the regular PDP, that will need to be replaced if you run an optic and want backup sights, which every duty and carry gun should have. And the match guns also come with those crap "duty" sights...on a $1900 competition gun. Hopefully, next year I can be there to ask them where their head is when putting parts on their guns. But I already know the answer, cost savings.

If the walther rep looks like he doesn't know anything, he doesn't. He isn't a walther employee. Walther hires their shot show reps out to a 3rd party company. I LOVE walther, but they are just paid to talk about walther.
