  • Today, we have the new 2023 Hyundai Palisade and my 2019 Hyundai Palisade. Yes, we are going to compare these two Hyundai palisades to show how much better the new Hyundai Palisade is. There’s no international pricing given just yet, but the new Hyundai Palisade is slightly more expensive (at least here in Korea / $1,500 more for the base trim, $2,800 more for the Caligraphy model). I still love my 2019 Hyundai Palisade, but with more recent tech, features, and design upgrades, the new 2023 Hyundai Palisade looks very promising. So, let’s see what the new Hyundai SUV, the flagship SUV looks like.

What a gorgeous looking car! It’s pretty much flawless! The only criticism I have is they should have offered faster engine. But I think they don’t want to give everything to you because they want to save some for the Genesis. I am so impressed with Hyundai. Their design team is probably the best in the industry.

great video, hilarious too very enjoyable. This is the first test drive video of the 23 Palisade I've seen, I don't think anyone in the States has gotten a hold of it yet. Very helpful to see the comparison side by side between the 2019 and 2023. Prior to this I thought the only difference was screen size and front grille, I really appreciate you reviewing the chassis and the insulation and double laminated windows, all of those make a luxury vehicle a luxury vehicle and obviously Hyundai is killing it. I love my Sonata, will wait for the 2023 Palisade to drop this summer to get a hold of one

Just picked up a 2023 palisade calligraphy w/o awd. Definitely smooth throughout. Exterior is nice, Interior in beige is gorgeous. Care less about the steering wheel, but could have been better. the Digital Key feature is next level. but the one thing i wish the car had is Wireless Car Play/ Android Auto. They already require the Qi for the phone and the digital key so makes sense to have integrated that together. The efficiency is a bummer. Hybrid would have made it amazing otherwise a turbo in the V6 just as amazing. Great review.

Once again you did a very good review. Practically covered everything about the Palisade. Anyway, it would be really nice if the Palisade will come out with a Hybrid model. Hyundai should change the steering wheel, it just looks hideous. They should improve the design of the steering wheel and make it more luxurious since the Palisade is high-end and luxurious.

There was another massive Hyundai and KIA recall in the US over the last few months. Most all are regarding engine failure or fires. How does the Korean government oversee these companies? The engine issues cannot be limited to the US. They add all these great features, though the most important component of a car is the engine and both brands don't seem to care. One Korean Hyundai corporate employee came forward as a whistleblower to the US government after reporting engine defect issues to Hyundai and being ignored. The man was rewarded with 20 million dollars for helping to save lives and consumers from all these problems. My KIA service guy told me last week service departments have been warning KIA about all the engine related issues they've been seeing, though no changes have been made. He and his manager told me the engine boring drills aren't being maintained properly and that's why bits of metal are getting into the engines from the factory. The irony is both companies would sell so many more cars if they could build engines properly.

    • @AsianPetrolhead
      @AsianPetrolhead  2 года назад

That is very great point. Hope Hyundai and Kia will sort the engine and fire issues soon.

    Another great review!
Loving all the new features that have been added to the Palisade.
All nice extras, but I think I'll definitely hold on to my current Palisade.
I always wondered if the radar cruise in traffic was meant to be rough. Mine does the same. Glad to know that it is normal.
I really love Hyundai's 2.2 diesel engine. My Palisade tows a 1.8 tonne caravan. The 2.2 diesel and 8 speed auto do such a brilliant job pulling the extra weight.
Hoping the next generation Palisade will still have a diesel engine or a Powertrain that is capable for towing.

Do you have any more information on the selective damping control shocks? Will they also be in the US-spec model? This is definitely the first I’ve heard of that change for 2023 (and also the first I’ve heard of any sort of chassis structure enhancements). When I google that suspension there’s very little info out there about it, but it sounds like this is not just the load leveling rear shocks they’ve offered in the past.

If people were upset about BMW and Lexus's front grill getting bigger, Hyundai is going to cause them fits. I genuinely think I prefer the older model (in terms of exterior styling). The last gen Palisade looked like a luxury car - this one looks much more aggressive and less refined.
Regardless of how I feel about the Palisade, the waiting list in Toronto, Canada is 6 months. Almost every dealership is sold out, and they only have the tester to show people. Same deal with the Teluride as well.

Thank you. Excellent Demo. So far yours is the best have seen. Quiet is very important to me! You did not mention the RF passenger seat. Does it finally have lumbar support like the driver's seat? Love the sound proofing in the GV80, except I don't like the Dash, Rear Seat and it does not come with a full size spare tire....that nix the deal for me! I hope the U.S. model has all these options. The front end looks nice. Less paint is better, because the paint is very thin on the Palisade, very disappointed with the paint. I wish I had the front wrapped in clear. Shouldn't have to do that with a new car. I would like a trade my 2020 Limited for a new Calligraphy if it had passenger lumbar, no panoramic roof and the color of Gold Coast Silver with Beige interior, hybrid would be a PLUS!

If the Palisade looked like this and had fun color options, I would have gotten that instead of the GV80. But I'm glad it didn't because I love my GV80 even better. I probably wouldn't have checked for one if this was the Palisade that came out first.

I love the redesign of the 2023! The front grill has a more aggressive look to it. I have a question: Does it have the same ability that Kia has when you select the mirror switch to left/right for the mirrors to dip down while in reverse?

    1. Calligraphy version in black (no chrome).
    2. Better wheel design.
    3. Eliminate Wind noise
    4. Folding mirror for USA market
    5. Automatic sun shade
    6. Automatic 2nd row up and down.
    7. Better engine, hybrid or electric.
    8. Better area for wireless charging for multiple phones.
    9. Entertainment on the back.
    10. Better driving assistance.
    11. Automatic self parking.
    12. Use the 360 cameras for surveillance monitoring with a local storage or cloud.

Probably if only Hyundai would licence 1950s-1970s rear-wheel driven Ford technology and apply it the Palisade then in turn it would be like a miniature F-series/Expedition, but while the Palisade is essentially front-wheel drive, its bodyshell and wheelbase looks similar to the current-generation Nissan Pathfinder that will only be sold in the U.S. and Canadian markets...
Still, the Palisade is quite yet honestly inferior than the Pathfinder (thanks to the engine similarly used in the Z and GT-R sports cars) but in the Philippines for example the Palisade was only sold with a diesel engine... (Perhaps I haven't imagine you uploaded a myriad of videos of British Jaguar and Land Rover cars here...)
