Thanks for pumping out so many videos lately, I've watched everyone of them 👍🏼
You're killing it!!!!!
Love the truck/suv snow tests
My hybrid Sportage did surprisingly well in the recent Seattle snow. I was very pleased. That Palisade is beautiful.
I would do trail type roads at the most for this. Thanks for the ride, beautiful scenery. Happy New Year!
You’re on fire with the videos! I was just catching up on the Lexus NX250 review. Keep up the great work! Happy new year!
Happy New Year Ryan and Team! May all your trails be challenging yet manageable in 2023.😁 On a personal note, I hope in the new year you get to drive another car as great as that
Toyota Fielder you experienced during your trip to Kenya😉
Excellent video! Love the angles, quality, lighting, etc. Thanks!!
The "rugged off road model". Complete with 20 inch wheels and carpeted floor mats.
Because all of them buyers take their car offroad at wallmart 🤣🤣
@@dolguldur4706 mall crawling 😂
Kia/Hyundai must’ve taken the same marketing class as did Subaru.
@@Jose_hernandez970 I agree, however I would feel much more confident in bad weather/off road in a Subaru. At least they added a lift and AT tires on their Outback Wilderness along with other useful features.
Glossy black wheels = more traction.
Thanks for the great video. I'm in Wisconsin, so seeing how it performs in snow is a huge concern! you've put a lot of my worries to bed.
Hey Ryan, thanks for the review.
Rented a palisade in Fairbanks back in March. It handled the ice roads and snow pretty well. Didn’t leave us stuck or stranded driving south to Denali national park and east to chino hot springs. Not to mention chasing auroras.
Great Review, beautiful scenery!
Still love the intro! It’s so dope!!
Love the chickens and your off-road reviews! :)
Keep up the great work
Man i love this channel
Can't wait for your 2023 Rav 4 Hybrid Adventure snow test!
You are the best presenter 👍
I know most Hyundai buyers probably don’t care, but just as someone who watches car reviews and enjoys cars in general, I’m tired of these faux off road trims. It is not that hard to just add idk .5 to an inch lift, 18 inch wheels, maybe some skid plate or some form of underbody protection lol again, I understand that Hyundai consumers don’t buy Hyundai for off road prowess but still
I enjoy watching the time on the car clock, it shows us a bit how you film your reviews 😄
We usually spend 2-3 days filming each review. 😜
@@drivingsports Here's hoping that hard work begins to pay off massively, you're due.
The best videographer in the game! Keep it up!
Took our 2022 Palisade with Blizzaks into the Cascades maybe a week before this. It did really well.
I'd say it did pretty good for normal tires etc. Kind of surprised me considering past Hyundai products and the awd systems.
Can’t wait to see the n line addition coming soon with more horse power and fully loaded with upgrades also the horse power is much more just wish was a twin turbo 🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲
Like the jacket.
I'm not going to hate on the pinstriping accents. Anything that isn't piano black is a win.
Me too. I have an Elantra and the piano black shows every fingerprint, speck of dust, and scratches easily.
Hey Ryan, thanks for the review.
Those vehicles are too big for our needs. When I was watching you slide a bit and having fun, it took me to a memory a few days ago.
We have almost 4ft of snow on the ground where we live here in the PNW.
I’m pushing 60 years old.
I put my new Forester in Xmode, stage 2 in an empty parking lot just to have fun, get it sideways and do a few donuts.
I had a blast !
Next time I’ll bring a friend as he’s wanting us to use my Subie and his full size GMC pickup.
Sound like a lot of fun! We’re in western WA and had a bit of fun in the recent snow storm. I did, however, slide from my garage to the street (3 car lengths) on a solid sheet of ice one morning 😅
I just like the look of off road models. I'd probably never hit a trai butl i just like knowing i can 😆🤦♂️
Video of this vs Subaru Ascent?
Would be interested to see how both do going head to head.
I'm always complaining about Prices with your reviews, Ryan. Interestingly enough, this is NOT bad for $45k, especially for a 3 row SUV.
Okay, only 4 minutes into it.. Let me watch the rest of the video... Happy New Year!! Ryan, Driving Sports TV, and Family.
PS: I LOVE!!! Your jacket, Ryan. I remember that Patrik Sandell segment.
Yeah, Hyundai and Kia have done an amazing job with the pricing in comparison to the standard stuff and even options when compared to rivals. The cost is just so high on some of these SUVs this and the Telluride seem like steals which is why I see them EVERYWHERE I turn😄
@@kstar1956 Exactly!! Like it or not, they've come along way.
Beautiful snowy views in this video. Although I’m not interested in the Hyundai at all I watched the video just because of the winter landscape.
Smart mode is smart!.👍🏼😉
Very nice. Price seems for today's over-priced market. The one issue I dislike, are the headlights, low on the side. Interior is great.
I agree. The headlights look fine but the fog lights need a little work to blend in a bit more.
How do you think this would perform with good AT tires ?
Hey Ryan, I am from west coast Canada, I recently bought a 2024 Calligraphy after a lot of 3 row SUV research and test drives, almost 8 different brands on performance price and comfort, I have a question that if Smart mode is any different than the Comfortable mode on this trim cause I don't feel much of a difference on regular driving since its advised for better driving. Thanks in advance.
Impressive results I'd rank Htrack up there with Subaru! aWD lock would have been my choice for this challenge, but it did well. How do you select sport + AWD lock at the same time? Press& turn?
What can free up even more space on the dash is a stick shifter on the steering column. Remember those?
smart and snow mode definitely did best
And when the pavement ended, so does the AWD. lol This is why I bought a 4Runner over a Lexus or something that has those ridiculous chins and no underbody protection. I dig the rides of the upper trim vehicles, but w/out the protection under our vehicle, we are just asking for potential vehicle damage resulting in thousands of dollars worth of shop time. Had that issue with a 2006 Chevy Trail Blazer SS. AWD was good. 6.2L engine, powerful. 22 inch tires, not ideal. But also there was an air dam up front and no underbody protection. It was a miserable set up. And it would have stopped right where you did. If not sooner. Because as you know our snow goes from powder to slush to ice clumps in a 24 hour period. And that tore up some of that plastic cladding on that vehicle. Anyhow, Happy New Year. Looking forward to what you have for us next year. :)
If anyone needs good all season tires I'm so impressed with the Michelin Cross Climate 2's!! They are real all season tires that are also snow peak rated!! They did fantastic in 8" of snow! They are far better than any other all season tire I've ever had for snow and ice! I have a FWD Honda Accord and the Cross Climate tires were perfect for a winter storm!
They are not all season but all weather and bear a 3 peak winter mark. Beat tires ever.
@@TheYasdes They are definitely the best tires I've ever experienced for rain, snow, and ice!! They really are All Season tires. The only downside is they are a little bit louder than my previous tires. Since they are amazing for winter driving it's well worth a little extra noise.
Great review! How would you compare this to Subaru Ascent? Do you feel like the AWD system is better on Subaru(stock vs stock)?
These are inferior to Subaru. If you don't want to get Subaru AWD you can look into Acura or Honda awd tech. I drove most big SUV awd for about 2-3 days each rental before decided on purchasing 2020 Subaru Ascent.
They should transfer some of their Rally technology to their vehicles. I’m sure they have learned a ton from being in Rally the past few years. 😅
The 5/4 song 🎵 in the background
This suv looks great. Nice stormtrooper vibes. The filming location looks majestic!
Stormtrooper was the first thing that popped in my head. Looks pretty cool
My Renegade Trailhawk with Falken Wildpeak AT Trails with 3 peaks snow rating. Make it the best Swiss army knife
Would the subaru ascent make it where you ended the video? Or would the Honda pilot or Toyota highlander do?
The Subaru Ascent has, like many of their models, 8.7 inches of ground clearance. And if you want even more ground clearance in a road friendly vehicle, the Outback Wilderness has a total of 9.5 inches.
Wow looks so cool 😎
Happy new year 🥳 guys 🎉
On fire, just like the engine
Thanks for bringing out this new Palisade. Now I'm torn between this and the Land Rover Telluride.
I would go with the Telluride X-Pro
It already has a better ground clearance than the Palisade and has the BF-GOODRICH A/T tires.
Plus interior styling is better in the Telluride than the Palisade 👍
Nice video and happy new year. This video should be how manufacturers advertise their vehicles off road and ground space capabilities. I always wonder why manufacturers do not sell their vehicles with proper tires depending on the area they are? Snowy places should have vehicles with off road and snow tires instead of all seasons tires. Just my thoughts
Because then people would know that they’re marketed “off-road capable” vehicle isn’t actually upgraded for real-world use.
Okay Rayan time to make 2023 Venza episode in Snow
Nice to see amigo ,long time ago 😢
Does it have heated steering wheel?
They should offer and xrt with calligraphy package
Anybody know where I can buy that Jacket he’s wearing?
Check fitment definition
Looks good with the black grill. Clearly Hyundai and Kia don’t make anything with real off road credibility. No lockers or limited slip diffs, skid plates
Kia Borrego was the last capable 4WD
@@ThisGuyRides man I remember that thing ! Would be cool to find one used
It still blows my mind that the US spec cars get the XRT trim which is the “off road” one but without the terrain modes that the Canadian and international models get. It’s annoying, I’ve tested all the modes and mud/sand are FAR more aggressive shifting torque left to right with wheel breaking than snow, smart, or sport. The us models don’t get the better htrac programming. Just something to note.
I have a Canadian model called the Urban, which looks like this, but with more features. It might look “off-road”, but that’s an appearances package only, it’s just a flimsy plastic rocker guard that’s different than other models. It is amazing though in snow. I just tested mine with proper winter tires in 10-12 cms of heavy snow and it was like driving on dry pavement. Stop and start in hills, I issue at all, not even a little tire spin. My one and only complaint is the location of the front radar, which is low on the bumper and collects snow easily which then sets off a bunch of warnings. It’s a pain to keep clear.
I was impressed with the Palisade until I saw the UPS 10:57 🚚 making up with no problem. 😁
It looks kinda like a 2019 Mitsubishi Delica D5 from the front side angle
Looks so hot!
Tell us more about the chickens!!
They’re mostly Orpingtons and Welsummers
Those are some great chickens!
This or an explorer timberline?
I think the videos should be divided in two parts, review of the car and then off road capabilities. Most of other reviews covers the bells and whistles e.t.c.
Palisade, pilot or Ascent?
Yay chickens ❤
In my experience and in my opinion, Subaru and Jeep and maybe Toyota are the only manufacturers that have very capable awd systems, now when it comes to how the awd systems were designed and how the manufacturers intended their awd system to handle all the intended capabilities particularly under extreme use(aka hardcore multi-terrain abuse) on a long term durability basis….to me there’s no better awd system that meets and/or far exceeds all their intended capabilities and that bad ass system is Subaru’s legendary symmetrical awd system!!! My 2018 Outback that I owned for 2 years has been thru so much hardcore abuse whether on-road or off-road!!! I would basically hit the off-road trails every other weekend and I’m talking about off-roading it over 8 hours straight on a Saturday or on a Sunday, I pushed my Subie’s awd system so much so that my brand spanking new Toyo open country all terrain tires i installed 2 years/40k miles ago will need to be replaced with new ones pretty soon…..yet not even once have I ever had any trouble with my Subie’s awd system! Nor has my Subie’s awd system ever overheated, not even once!!! And we’re talking about me getting my wheels to spin and spin and spin until it get enough traction to grip us over any off-road obstacle!!! Nor have I ever had any mechanical problems with my 2018 Outback!!! And its the same with all the other Subie’s I’ve had the pleasure to test drive for a couple weeks and or months, including a 2020 Outback Onyx XT, 2022 Outback Premium and a 2022 Crosstrek Base trim……now sure those weren’t tested long term but for the several weeks or months that I did have them, i made sure to drive them to the extreme!! Just like if they were my personal vehicles!!! And yet, none of their awd systems overheated!!! As matter of fact, I didn’t even know what the “awd overheated” dash warning light looked like until i looked it up in the owners manual….so yea man, Subie for the win!!!!
Should have put nokian wrg4 tires on it.
The whole point of these videos is to test with stock tires as it rolls off the dealer lot.
I really want headlight to be the top visual element on the front end of a vehicle. This fad is not growing on me.
It's a very good looking vehicle in the XRT guise especially after they fixed the front end.
You did a video long back when your palisade got stuck and shut down twice in snow, that time you mentioned hyundai will get back with answer. Did you get reply ? It’s the same vehicle with same AWD what made you change your decision about this today to positive.
They never followed up.
You know, the biggest problem with some people that think they know how to drive in the snow is that they always drive in the tracks. Here in NM, those track are usually glare ice. The snow offers a LOT more traction that the ice does. And they also drive way too fast, and once the vehicle starts sliding on the ice, they're WAY out of their league trying to not crash.
As far as carplay goes, don't make it usbc. Make it wireless lol
Where is this road on the map?
I like how Hyundai doesn’t use piano black as much as Kia. Otherwise both are amazing cars. It is all personal opinion/subjective when comparing the two I feel.
This or the Telluride X Pro?
Neither…they both lack anything worth being called “off-road”. Save your money and buy the regular one. Even better, but a different manufacturer altogether.
But the question now is, why are you wearing the coat INSIDE the car? Does not the climate control/heated seats keep you warm enough? Anyway, lot of people do that, and it always seems so peculiar to me. As for the Palisade, the covered cup holder/bin is always my preference in design since leaving them uncovered only invites unsightly lint and trash accumulation.
However, putting the phone charger on the bottom next to the cup holders is just asking for trouble. Forget to put the lid on securely and one sudden stop and your phone is covered by a sticky gooey latte.
The process of production I’m in and out of the car 50 times in a day.
Video starts at 20:20
20 inch wheels don't belong in the snow. Most offroaders are on 17 inch wheels.
Not bad for Hyundai
I know when a vehicle is in 4hi...so a part time system....the braking distance is dramatically decreased. I would love to see the difference in braking distance between a part time 4WD system vs AWD system. I also would love to see how different braking distance is with ABS OFF vs ON. ABS OFF means less control but shorter braking distance.
Maybe I’m not understanding what you’re getting at but almost everything you’ve said seems wrong.
That would differ though, depending on the weight of the vehicle.
@@joepond769 Prove me wrong. I already know I am right. I had a theory that 4WD with a transfer case would improve braking. So, based on this premise i searched RUclips to prove or disprove my theory. If you do your search well, you will discover that 4WD with a transfer case will improve braking distance if in 4hi or 4lo AND abs off also shortens braking distance. I will offer a clue...YT channel TEAM O'NEIL RACING. I wait for your response.
@@mikefoehr235 RUclips, now there is a highly reliable source. In actuality, it depends on the road surface and how sophisticated the ABS system is.
@@edsmith9855 So, let's see the test. I would love to see testing...real-world driving conditions.
Don't you want the tires to spin, so it slings the snow out of the tires? Also you want the tires fully inflated so the dig into the snow.
Snow tires grab onto snow which assists traction. AT's need to fling snow to clear lugs. Less air means greater surface area which improves grip in most conditions.
I’m not sure why it is, but the finger snapping in the music is so annoying. The rest of the video was on point.
Skip to 11:30 for actual driving stuffs.
There are chapters in the description. Lol.
lol that grille is kinda like an even cheaper knockoff of a lexus
Looks like a Mitsubishi Outlander lol.
Hey Ryan how much do your chicken and hens get paid?
I’m just here to support one my favorite car review channels. I could care less about the Kia/Hyundai death trap 🤮
Why did you drive to the mountains for a snow driving review? You already had plenty of snow in the lowlands of Western Washington.
Testing the vehicle is something a bit more "extreme" conditions wise because some of us tend to want to go up into the mountains or something along those lines to maybe hunt, go hiking etc on a regular basis and need something with a great AWD/4x4 to get us up there and back.
Just my guess anyway.
Probably didn’t have the vehicle long enough for an extended review.
And we get the great scenery out in the mountains.
6 cylinder
Direct injection could lead up to carbon build up. 🤔 Akins cycle. High compression. Old school. Oil cap says 5w30 not common anymore. No hydraulic lifters, so in cold weather it's loud. Theme under the hood.
Underneath. Steel oil pan Good Idea. Oil filter housing is plastic which is not good.
Suspension: good design McPherson struts. Flex pipes leak.
Exhaust weld: not good
Insulation not good No insulation in middle section of car so VERY NOISY
Rear shock is large
You got this information off of Car Nut's video. He failed to mention that Toyota's and Lexus have plastic oil filter housings. The Palisade is very quiet due to laminated front and side windows.
The number of commercials into the video just to get paid is ruined the review for me. Very annoying commercials
Wow I can smell the Hyundai class action lawsuit from here
the gauges on this version are sad, same thing is used in entry level Sportage and Niro. Embarrassing.
The lock button in hyundai awd system is so misleading. very few people seem to realize it locks nothing.
If this is the same system that was called Dynamax before and designed by Magna it will have problems down the road, unless its been improved. Rear diffs fail, awd coupler guaranteed to fail, transmission to the driveshaft gear can wear out.
So far on my 2015 santa fe only coupler went, fixed under warranty. Hoping for no more issues as it has been super reliable car otherwise.
Rather have the Ranger Tremor.
