Be aware that AWD doesn't replace snow tires. Of course if this is from Texas they may not sell them there. Also you can't turn the phone once you start recording ;)

Quite impressive, I have a sedan myself and it is pretty good as long as one doesn’t “high center”. Yours looked good getting out of the driveway straight downhill 90 degrees, and still did well getting back into the driveway straight uphill 90 degrees, which was very difficult indeed.😀

Ikr, very impressive , I’ve tried without traction control, was much better

I have a 3 Preferred Sedan with AWD. With winter tires the 3 is unstoppable in the snow. Everything up to 12 inches of snow is a walk in the park. Don’t know how it would preform with snow deeper than a 12” though. The limiting factor is the ride height. The AWD system is incredible though. Basically if the front wheels slip for one rotation the rear wheels automatically engage and stay engaged. With traction control off, the rear wheels basically engage immediately. The car doesn’t have a brake vectoring system which can brake one wheel and send the power to another wheel, so if you’re in snowy conditions and need to get moving, I’d say just turn traction control off from the get-go so you can get the rear wheels to engage quicker. But yeah, this car is great in the snow. 9.5/10 easily.

...it does have a brake vectoring system and most ppl don't know this. It's all based on the sensors that monitor various coditions in the car such as outside temperatue ( to prepare for icy and slippery conditions ) yaw angle, speed of the vehicle, when to apply braking to the opposite wheels when slipping etc.. so it's actually a predictive vectoring system

@@PopsRacer61 hmmmm, didn’t know it had brake vectoring, but I guess that makes sense considering how well the car does in snowy conditions. This year it did t matter if it was deep snow, slush, ice, off cambered hills, the 3 did it without breaking a sweat. I even went out for a little snow drifting in an empty parking lot. The car is surprisingly playful and happy to hand it’s tail out lol. I thought it was just open diffs, but I guess Mazda had something up their sleeves.

@@Soh90 ..it's funny but my neighbor and I were doing the same thing in a vacant lot with tons of snow. He has a 2021 330i Xdrive, and we were having a blast ! I absolutely love my "3" !!!

I live up where we get pretty heavy snow, combined with some steep hills to get up and down...roads don’t always get cleared right away so as much as I want the hatchback I’ve been debating if the ground clearance will be an issue 😥 this reassures me a little thanks for posting. I’d get winter tires for it so as long as I’m not off-roading should be able to work my way through what we get

    • @temmschild

If u going to get winter tires you will
Be fine otherwise I suggest you to get higher car or better awd sedan like bmw xdrive, Audi Quattro or benz 4matic etc

..if the snow is under 7" I drive my MAZDA3 AWD. If it snows more than 7" I drive my CX5. The downside is I have NO excuse not to make it to work now : (

I ordered a new mazda 3 fwd. Do you know if this car still has the same FWD as my 2008 mazda 3? Currently, it's a fully open diff and the tire with the least traction will spin. I call my car 1 wheel drive lol
Do the new mazdas have anything to stop this effect?
