Still quite like Mazda designs and the 3 in particular, but at this point it sort of feels like I'm waiting for what's "next" for it. The last facelift is about 5 years old.
I was considering buying one of these...until I took it on a test drive around the DC beltway. Your comment about high speed stability is spot on. I don't know what is going on but quick moves too avoid Maryland drivers at speeds in excess of the speed limit (because who drives that around here) seem to really freak the car out. It's just a really off platform. I wanted to like it because it looks SO GREAT.
dear sarah, i like your reviews 👍🏻 one question: you say sport as "schport". is this intentional or common in your area? i do like it very much how fresh (and at the same time dry with a wink) based on real knowlede you present it. best regards 🌷
The basic design has been around a while now, but unlike other traditional designed cars isn't looking as tired, but lets see what they do with the redesign.
People always sleep on the cheapest and most reliable version of this car, FWD MT NA. Still plenty fast, about 7% lighter than the 4WD AT. Car's actually still very easy to drive without the rear diff.
Nice video and the best mechanical review I've seen of the car. I have a 23 Turbo sedan and I have to say that I haven't seen the issue you describe with driving the car at speed. I've found it to be incredibly stable, no matter how hard I toss it into a corner. I wonder if somehow the extra length of the sedan contributes to that.
Mazda going with a rear torsion suspension for this is one of those weird conundrums that is an odd thing. Kind of like how Toyota continued to use rear drum brakes on the Tacoma up until this new 2024 model year.
Iirc Mazda uses a special rear torsion design that was supposed to help limit the negatives of a rear torsion setup to provide a similar suspension performance at a much cheaper cost to the consumer by being more durable, cheaper or easier to repair/replace. Seems like maybe it wasn’t as effective as Mazda hoped it would be, since comments always mention it, however I also wouldn’t be surprised if most of the comments are made from ignorance and just a preconceived notion that rear torsion is always bad. I believe Mazda specifically said that this torsion suspension was designed for daily drivers and that normal people wouldn’t be able to tell the difference but obviously if you whip her into a corner at speed you would be able to tell.
People wanted more space in the rear, than handling. Its a packaging thing. Hondas in the 90's all had 4 wheel double wishbones. THey all have torsion rear suspension now. Its cheaper, and indirectly, its what people asked for.
@@Dave-cf4vd They asked for the back seats to go down, and an open passthrough between the trunk and the cabin. If you look at 90's Hondas, the passthrough is limited by the suspension. Torsion fixed that issue.
Great review and video, as always. Probably my favourite car reviewer and builds. I’m pretty sure the induction/engine sounds are played over the stereo, prob the centre and foot speakers- Bose just programmed and tuned it really really convincingly. I think the stereo is more than capable- it’s probably my favourite part of the car tbh. I would check the audio settings… Cheers
Thanks for another informative review. A bit of tail out tendency should add to the handling characteristics, given the normal understeering nature of front and four wheel driven cars! Nothing more fun than a front wheel drive car that moves its tail around on lift off.... Maybe a bit of a shock for the unaware 😮

Cool review! I have an MS3, and a 2023 non-turbo Mazda3 hatchback. Completely different cars. In fact why I bought the M3 Hatchback. I actually don't mind the rear suspension because I can get it to break out when I want to. It will drift around corners where the MS3 is on rails.
love the mazda3. i have a ‘23 premium with the mt 🥰 the exact same colors as the one you reviewed, too😛
Love the Sarah - n - Tuned Reviews... How Could You Not?. Sarah's better than my Internist on an Annual Physical exam. Sarah is much more thorough sticking and pointing around everything, and describing it all to you! And a lot Prettier too, which would demand more regular Health Checks with Dr. Sarah. Great job as always, Sarah.
TBH, I wouldn't want my internist taking a caliper to my intestines for an annual exam.
The Mazda 3 is the best compact car on the market!!! But, like most of us... if it only had 2 more inches in the back seat.
Big foot needs love ❤... lol lol... Love it.
Mazda produce great cars. I was lucky to own two MX5's and they were fantastic fun, especially throwing into corners. Great review as always.
This car was 35K max in 2021…. Same car three years later up around 4K WTH. Thanks for the awesome review Sarah.
Still quite like Mazda designs and the 3 in particular, but at this point it sort of feels like I'm waiting for what's "next" for it. The last facelift is about 5 years old.
You looked very nice on this video. Not too crazy about the car but you did a great job on the review.
Ha ha. I say that all the time too, the number one cost cutting thing is the holder for the sunglasses.
I work for Stellantis and I can tell you goofy counter balance blocks are for vibration
I wanted to like it because it looks SO GREAT.
dear sarah, i like your reviews 👍🏻
one question: you say sport as "schport". is this intentional or common in your area?
i do like it very much how fresh (and at the same time dry with a wink) based on real knowlede you present it. best regards 🌷
Thank you Sarah. Love your reviews, they are top notch!
Thorough, informative and fun review as usual. No USB in the backseat? Major miss, Mazda! Thank you. Plus, Everlong on the sound system!
The basic design has been around a while now, but unlike other traditional designed cars isn't looking as tired, but lets see what they do with the redesign.
Great review! I have to check and see if heated seats and steering wheel are avail or optional in Canada. Cheers from West Coast Canada!
@@raullasvegasits what bad drivers ask for...
@@raullasvegas Nobody ever asked for this crap.
@@Dave-cf4vd They asked for the back seats to go down, and an open passthrough between the trunk and the cabin. If you look at 90's Hondas, the passthrough is limited by the suspension. Torsion fixed that issue.
I _still_ have my 2006 Mazda 3 MPS (aka Mazdaspeed 3); lovely car to drive. Torque steer? That's part of its "character". 😁
I’ve been seriously looking at CX-5 turbo and signature models. I really hope they drop one off for a proper review.
Amazing style and ultra attractive looks!
Mazda 3 is sweet too!
I would check the audio settings…
Cheers
As a Mazda owner I loved this review.... but I love all your reviews!
Um, no. Thats not what’s happening here.
@@SarahnTunedits all fault of downenginered rear suspension at cx30 and 3((
Copy that. I trust the seat of your pants! 😀
Snap oversteer is never fun. It's what gives older mustangs the reputation of hitting crowds. IRS really is amazing.
The level of detail discussed tho'! THANK YOU!!!!
for anyone curious about the Mazda 3 hatch i do own a carbon turbo model and ive loved it. ive put on about 15k miles n it and yeah some things are short comings, but its not a race car but a more beginner sports car/ hot hatch. HOWEVER Mazda is coming out with a Spirit Racing Mazda 3 AND Rx twin that's more geared to track/GT3; now that's going to be curious car to review and see what they have changed to make it track orientated
