After the recent firing of this ridiculously underrated singer, guitarist, and songwriter, I'll be the first to say there ain't no replacing Lindsey Buckingham. Some can sing this song, some can play it too. But could they write it and live it too? Never!
@@Bobbyyun , oh yeah, they’d better be. I just don’t understand. They have known and worked with each other for almost 50 years. Couldn’t they just resolve their differences in a less hostile way? By firing Lindsay Buckingham, it does tarnish their legacy somewhat. A Fleetwood Mac without him is just not the same Fleetwood Mac to me.
@@sonofbarnsey i have and one of my best friends is an amazing guitarist especially on acoustic and even he has trouble with the chord changes and finger picking.. but as for singing it.. I can sing it spot on because this is one of my favorite songs ever by my favorite guitarist ever and I've been listening to it since it first came out.. in my opinion it is the best song on Rumours.. which at that time was the best selling album of all time and is still one of the best selling albums of all time!! Thanks to Lindsey Buckingham!!!
One of the best things Lindsey has done for Fleetwood Mac is bringing along then-girlfriend Stevie Nicks. And we all know how that became a game-changer for everyone else in the band. You can’t put him out of the equation because he started the ball rolling in so many ways. There are still issues between him and Fleetwood Mac but one thing’s for sure - he deserves better.
This is priceless. Guess there's no point to say how good Linds and his song are. But man John McVie is freakin' awesome. So underrated. The way he balance the song is uncanny.
This is great. As a bass player, I always had a dilemma over what to do when accompanying a fingerpicker who was already picking his own bass notes - John McVie has made an interesting compromise. I think it works.
it feels like his bass is like a bass drum in a way keeping the bars tight and it seems it also helps the drummer as well i feel like its a metronome to keep everyone in check because his part is simple and easy to play in the time signature unlike the drummer and guitarist who have to play in a poly rhythm so it seems they all play off eachother well also in future renditions the bass is a lot tighter
For a band that was around for decades, this was the moment in the mid to late 70s when they were at the top of their game. And we get to enjoy it again and again.
Lindsay is possibly the most under rated guitarist/singer ever. His vocal range is fucking amazing. And speaking as a guitarist he fingerpicks super complex chords and patterns while singing at the same time like it is no effort at all. Damn. I'll never have that kind of talent.
Probably the most "Under Rated" Singer and Guitarist" in Music History. At 1:32 he sings "Oh No" and at 1:42 "Oh Yeah" which I don't think he sings on the recording and if they He did I never heard him sing the words or at least not with the feeling he's got here. Thank God they recorded this . can you imagine how much GREAT stuff is just gone from History never to be seen or heard again.
+CJ carp Very unusual picking style that's heavy on the thumb. Guy can shred, play diminished, open, barre patterns like no other has or will. Agree 10000% His vocal timbre is unique and difficult to copy. No he did NOT have those adlibs in the album recording , but had more subtle phrasing. Something vocalists of today refuse to embrace. The classic coda. Example the end of Rush's Vital Signs. The last lines have the same words, but sung slightly different each time.
I love this take on the song. The studio version is always my favorite, but adding drums gives this version a bit of a giddyup. I would figure that the song is about the relationship between Lindsey and Stevie.
Actually it's about the girl he dated after Stevie left him.. he felt like he was falling for her and it scared him so he said he was Never Going Back Again.. so they broke up and he married Kristen..
Not only is this some incredibly difficult to play in the guitar, it is even harder to sing and play this at the same time. Also, I’d like to point out the bass groove. Effing awesome. Rather tan subtracting from the guitar’s finger licking, it accentuates it. Really cool.
I am a new guitar player. In my rookie mind, I thought maybe I could try this. I instantly realized this wonderful song was far beyond my skills. Maybe in a year or more.
he's playing that ovation without a strap. that takes mucho talent, cuz those ovations slide off you when trying to pic classical type music like this. bravo dude.
Yeah, I couldn’t do it. My buddy has an ovation. Sometimes, he wants me to play it during jam sessions. I’ve got a beer gut these days. Damn thing slides off every time unless I put on the strap. Kudos to Lindsay, there.
one day, when the world forgets about love, and passion, and finding your soul mate thing...when no person is able to remember it or revive it....these old Fleetwood Mac recordings will help them put their act together......
Damn I wish I could have been around for this time. But thankfully recordings like this exist just to get an idea what it was like to be there when this kind of music was at its peak. Truly amazing.
Beautiful eyes - awesome energy - this was my favorite Fleetwood Mac song from the first time I heard the first note of it so very very long ago. And it is still my favorite. Sorry he was going thru some hard times when he wrote this song - but I was going thru hard times too. And the song made me feel so much better. Love the song!!
god damn!!!! this could've gone on for 20 minutes.. one of my favorite tunes ever. Lindsey you are one of my greatest musical heroes ever.. Love you brother..
Great interplay between Lindsey and John. Mick is keeping time in the background, but it's these two carrying the song. As much as I love Stevie and Christine, part of me kind of liked that the ladies left the stage and the men got a moment to hang out on their own.

The picking pattern is the hardest to master, and the chord shapes are not 'that difficult' in themselves. But to pick it correctly, and fluently, is extremely difficult. When you can play it perfectly, and still say it's not that bad, you will have my respect sir.
@@codythedoggo7671 My comment was 7 months ago, I can play it fairly well now. It was one of the more tricky right hand picking pieces to learn, because unlike standard travis picking, your fingers do not stay on the same strings. I found it trickier than (for example) the south wind - John Renbourn, or 'Lady Nothing - Bert Jansch' which are medium difficulty pieces.
