Fleetwood Mac are one of my all time favorite bands. As a child, I had the opportunity to spend some time with Lindsay & Stevie before they joined Fleetwood Mac. My neighbors were a band called the Curtis Brothers and were friends of theirs. They were also my babysitters. The Curtis Bros. actually wrote & recorded Blue Letter on their self-titled album and Fleetwood Mac chose to cover it. They were all wonderful, down to earth people. I will always remember Lindsay giving me my first guitar lesson and "Aunt Stevie" taking me to the mall to get an Orange Julius. Great memories. Peace. JR
Jonny, It's funny how the cosmos works. The last few days I was near Nashville with some family to enjoy the eclipse. We found ourselves at a really nice marina bar called The Rudder. The music that afternoon was a trio of men I'd never seen before. During the break, I complimented one of them and chatted about some of their song selections. I asked him if they could play Southern Cross. He smiled and said he didn't know if they knew the words. I would soon find out this was sarcasm as I said I know them and would love to sing it with them. He said okay, but you better go ask the bass player. He wrote it. I froze for a moment. The following minutes were a blur, but I found myself in awe talking with Michael Curtis about the song and some of his moments in music. After we all enjoyed the magical spectacle of totality, the guys re-took the stage. A number of songs into it, Michael called me up and I got to sing his baby with him. I won't bore you with why I fell in love with the song and for how many years it has been one of my very favorites. Michael's wife did tell me afterward she couldn't believe Michael let me up there with him for that, to sing "his baby" the song that "built their house." I'm just glad Stephen Stills heard Seven League Boots once upon a time. Oh, and a credit to the band, Davidson Horn and Curtis!
This is definitely the best version of "Blue Letter" ever recorded. So spontaneous. So vital. So absolutely energized. A perfect golden moment in rock history when the synergy united all the members of the band in an emotional catharis.
Wow. Stevie, of course, looked amazing -- not often you see her wearing jeans, and that haircut was pretty awesome, too. Oh, if only we could look that good forever. But John McVie also looked pretty spectacular, too!
This was back in the day when you went to a concert to watch some kick-a$$ music and not all the other stuff that concerts have today.... Blue Letter is a great song that has kinda fallen under the radar as far as Fleetwood Mac hits.....
Is there any other rock guitar player who plays without a pick like Lindsay? That just blows me away how awesome he can play like that. My fingers hurt just thinking about it. Lindsay is just super awesome. He's criminally underrated as an artist and guitar player.
Trivia time! It was after this concert that they drove past a sign that said "Silver Springs, MD" (about an hour from Largo, MD) and that was the sign that inspired Stevie to write Silver Springs during the Rumours sessions.
I know nothing about guitar playing and when a friend of mine found out how much of a FM fan I am, he would tell me over and over how great of a guitar player Lindsey is. I would just smile and nod my head. Then I saw them in concert. I still don't know much, but damn, he's good!!
lindsey shines here!!!!,hope the band will get there heads out of egoville and get together and rock and roll again, stevie should really watch these vidieos again and see what we all saw then, the magic singing pair, dont ruin this gift you two have ,dont let others drag bad stuff between you, call him up stevie,we know he will come running to sing with you again, not that he needs you ,but to bring on your magic you both have when you sing together!love ya all ,lets rock and roll,im not getting any younger !!!

@Kristen Jett oh and yes they will ,if the chance comes up ,they will, lifes too short to hestate and stay angry or whaever, they will want to rock again
I've been listening to rock and roll for over 50 years I don't know what it is about this simple song that keeps bringing me back to listen to it over and over and over I really can't figure it out I'm just loving it but I wish I knew the reason as to why...and that oh so Iovely white Gibson LP!...
You're The best of the best!! The Brain of Fleetwood Mac I love your only style of playing guitar. The way you play your guitar gives the band Life!! I can tell it's you when I hear a song you all play. You have a great voice !! I love your idea of having a band play Tusk no one has never done that, not that I know of. Great work a Master piece of art 🎨 Tusk.
This is incredible!!. The whole band are amazing, top class!!! Mick's drumming is amazing especially towards the end!! But once again Lindsey steals it for me with his magnificent guitar work!! Sounds so great and him playing the white gibson it looks great also!!!
In today's world, it is still nice to hear Christine, see Christine, and Stevie is just kinda there. Ironically, she sees herself as an icon and still as hot as she was then. Chris, who has always been happy to stay in the shadows, is coming out as the Lady!
"Just kinda there"?! I don't know what concert you went to, but Stevie is still the reigning queen of rock and roll. Completely transporting and powerful to this day, she still grabs the audience by the balls and takes them into her fairy kingdom lol
Deb Reynolds: Stevie didn’t want the spotlight????? Um... so why did she always stand centre stage? Why did she gyrate her body and swish scarves etc during instrumentals, instead of standing back and letting the musicians in the band take well-deserved credit? Didn’t want the spotlight???!!! Gimme a break!
Beautiful times. Thank you Fleeteood Mac. For your music. I'm Mexicano, from Mazatlán Sinaloa Mexico and I LOVE YOU STEVIE. LINSDAY. MICK. CHISTINE AND JHON...! PLEASE SAY ME WHEN YOU COME TO MAZATLAN.?
Just saw them Saturday night 11 29 at the Forum in LA. What a band they were then and now. Really like the raw sound and straight ahead aspect of this 1975 version. They did 2 1/2 hours and 24+ songs each of which was super-pro. Blue Letter is probably in my top five FM songs and even though wasn't in the set list, had a great time. FM a must see band while they are still touring. Don't wait! Go to a show near you!!!
One of my favourite bands - I still have their 'Rumours' LP I bought in '78 in pristine condition! : ) Always gorgeous Stevie in bell bottoms and Lindsey fantastic on guitar, with an almost as fantastic hair do! Christine, John and Mick all great of course. Brilliant rendition of this song!
Who are the 26 people that gave this a thumbs down and what's wrong with them?? This is pure gold! Another year and a half later and they're the biggest rock band in the world.
One of my favorite Fleetwood Mac songs, but I think hearing the live version of this song just took the song to a whole new level!!! Thanks for the upload!!!
This old vid is a great insight into why the band became one of the best ever. Great musical talent, a gorgeous "little brown haired girl" (as Stevie once called herself) and a knack for putting on a great show...
I watch these old clips and wish I had been alive back then. Not only would it have been amazing to see them live but it just seems like concert/festival feels were so different back then. I love when random jam sessions would break out bc the whole group was vibin’ on stage hard! I doubt I’ll ever be able to experience that in my lifetime.
Little did each one know the role they would soon begin to play, the lessons each would learn, the stories they would begin to tell just up ahead, right around the corner......
My favorite video of FM on youtube. Song is very upbeat, probably at ( or near ) the end of a show, and they have so much energy! Lindsey's solo was better than most of his live ones. What a Class Act!
Yeah I had to watch carefully I thought he was using a picket first to bring out some of them notes but hell no he was fingering that bad boy all the way on that Les Paul 😱😱

Incredibly underrated bass player.
Alexandria VA native I was at this concert at Capitol Centre in 1975. The first lp in 1975 with Buckingham and Nicks added to the group was so good. Christine McVie shined.

Et deux ans après ils ont " explosé " le monde entier avec le " Rumours tour "..sauf la France 😭🤔🤔

Jonny Roxx that's amazing. Glad you had that experience.

Jeremy McClure wow. The cosmos, eh? 🙂 I will keep this in mind. Peace; rock on
What a great story!! How fun to have this experience and memory.
RIP Christine. Always incredible harmonizing between you, Nicks, and Buckingham.
featuring the ever underrated fretwork of lindsey buckingham
This is definitely the best version of "Blue Letter" ever recorded. So spontaneous. So vital. So absolutely energized. A perfect golden moment in rock history when the synergy united all the members of the band in an emotional catharis.
Isn't that a great album?
@@philiponcale1820 Yes!
New Jersey or studio is way better
Christ, could Stevie Nicks have been any more of a babe back than? Wow, she was something !!
Anyone who says that Fleetwood Mac was only just a pop band needs watch this. This is pure rock and roll!
And Bob Welch
@@davewill0819haha. Snuck one in there ,! Love it.
Oh when we were young😩great clip F Mac fan forever ❤️
To me it's no contest, Lindsey Buckingham is the best guitarist in history.
I can watch him play every day and it never gets old.
One of the best. He is my favorite of all guitarists.
Agreed, very underrated in a very overlooked band
*cough* Hendrix *cough*
Yea he damn good!
One of the best in history definitely
I can't imagine Fleetwood Mac without Lindsey Buckingham.
It was a definitely interesting time
I can, his voice is not a good singing voice, he is a pretty decent guitarist, but Stevie made Fleetwood Mac reach stardom.
I can't imagine Fleetwood Mac with Sammy Hagar.
@@ontheruntonowhere i can he has never been part of Fleetwood Mac.

Love this version. Feeling the Zep vibe. Rock and Roll is the next song up and the neighbors will continue to love me.

Holy Fuck!!!!!! This blows away the studio version. Smoking Hot!!!!!
Let's just put it in very simple terms. One of the greatest live songs ever put to video. Of any band. Not just Mac🔥
OMG, Stevie in a halter! Can we please bring back the '70's?
I love Mick Fleetwood, dude is really into his drumming.
I love Stevie Nicks! 😝
Michele is one hell of a person.
Could not of lived life without there music ringing everyday in my ears !!!! So magnificently greatest of all timesssxx

Even though Lindsey was not the founding member but he is Fleetwood Mac, he made Fleetwood Mac what it is today
They ALL made it what it is, not just him.
Fleetwood Mac, is Mick, Christie Lindsey, Stevie and John all together. Not one or the other. They all in unison create the band for what it is.
@Sam Maloney definitely Peter Green would beg to differ
Peter green....bob welsh????has been great contributing people to this band....thought lindsey would get over himself and join the last tour
@@lauraobrien5686 get over himself? He was let go
This video shows what talent Lindsey has. He has carried the band forever.
Kristen Jett you’re way out of your depth here, Lindsay is one of the all time greats and his body of work proves that
Stevie looks amazing!
she's the show. both the gals. so cute.
She looks different every time I see her 😊💙

SuperDrJeckyl Robbie Krieger, guitarist for The Doors didn't use a pick either.
Mark Knopfler
Toy Caldwell of The Marshall Tucker Band was another great player who didn’t use a pick.

It's "Silver Spring, MD"
true!
Moments later.....this band explodes and goes Global!!!! Love you guys!
Mick and Lindsay!!!!!!! SO awesome! I think Lindsay still doesn't get he credit for being a supreme, top of the line guitarist.
So true, one of the best if not the best fingerstyle rock guitar legend, along with Mark Knopfler.
I know nothing about guitar playing and when a friend of mine found out how much of a FM fan I am, he would tell me over and over how great of a guitar player Lindsey is. I would just smile and nod my head. Then I saw them in concert. I still don't know much, but damn, he's good!!

For every voice you've ever heard, there's a thousand without a word.
I really think Lindsay is a master virtuoso, driven hard within himself and he practices like a MANIAC a LOT!!!! This is really quite the performance
Excellent performance but this song really doesn't fit their style, IMO.
They must have been spent after this performance. So darn good. Just this one performance would have made them world famous.

Wow no one could rock the tambourine like Stevie! Nice to see her in those oh so 70's bell-bottoms; unique! Band sounded great
Over here in the good old UK, we called them loons if the flare started at the hip. If it started at the knee, they were flares.
