Sweet guy. At Southend On The Sea airport after we saw them at the Rainbow ( London ) in '77 the next day it was just " The Brave " and I leaning against a wall with our backpacks. Lindsay came out of a door and I thanked him for the great show and told him I thought their new album that was debuting ( Rumours ) would be a hit. He thanked me and said" you've got to meet the band!" . He summoned them and dutifully they left the room and one by one were introduced. We weren't given an audience they acted like it was their privilege to meet and talk with us for an hour.. Stage managed and set up by Lindasy. Humble and kind !!
Great story Anja you are very lucky. He has always come across so humble and down to earth and that is just great to hear.Unbelievable performance here.
Hey Anja I live in Southend unfortunately didn't see them there though :(
Anja Stankov lucky you. I love Lindsey!!!
Amazing!
They are without a doubt a classy bunch of individuals. It's a shame they have so much internal conflict.
I swear Lindsey goes into a trance when he plays this song, and he takes all of us with him...
He leaves the stage, he's in another place
You said it, my friend..~
I totally agree ...im,in,live with this man,
And his song ,,,it ain't that funny ,. Just brings me joy every time I hear it
Total truth, I get into it every time, musical journey
I get into it every time, a musical journey
One of THE MOST underrated guitarists ever in the history of forever.
So damn underrated he doesn't even appear on lists of underrated guitarists.
TheUnknown285
LOL, nice observation!
Sebastiaan Franken please!! Get ahold of yourself
Sebastiaan Franken was
TheUnknown285 that’s really bright
Mick Fleetwood, one of the most underrated drummers
And the happiest! 😊😎
Yeah, he played it alright. But if you watch "The Dance" version, he plays to Lindsey and it is unbelievably good.
@@lisaalligood4550 yess! He gave such a performance
I'd say the Mick and John are one of the best rhythm sections in rock.
@@midi510 Yes, they are great, but the greatest? I think John and Roger might like a word, not to mention the awesome Mr Moffett.
Honestly, it’s not a competition!
Nothing and I mean nothing, can even come close to this level of ability and performance in today's modern music. It is a bygone era.
Lindsey is one of the best players ever. You can feel it. Eyes closed, never misses a beat 💓 in a trance
Well, his own earlier performances can. This one is played so sluggish to the beat that it feels a bit bothersome, to me at least.
I’m 57 years old now, and this has got to be one of the best performances I’ve ever seen! He never uses a pick. Amazing! And the crowd is clapping and going crazy before he even gets through. Lindsey, you’re the best!
This really is phenomenal 🔥
He poured his entire heart into it. He's completely spent at the end.
He is off beat (I take it he is doing it on purpose, but he is going overboard) and he is playing one note all the time. When he goes to the next, the crowd is clapping. Fleetwood Mac in the post-Green era was just another commercial band. They offered a few pleasant, but artistically mediocre songs...
Fleetwwod Mac is NOTHING without Lindsey.... he takes us on a journey here... Amazing performance
💯
One of the best guitar solos I've ever heard , incredible
Obviously Lindsey was the star of this performance, but can we recognize just how stable and steady the rhythm section is here? That solo was magnified because of the fat but rock-steady bass and drum section that served as the foundation on which Lindsey could build and flourish. The extra-long intro in and of itself was like bedrock. Amazing.
It wasn't lost on me how Lindsey and Mick watched each other during the beginning of this performance. John & Mick don't have to - they've been together as a rhythm section longer than most of us have been alive. But I love how the drumming & the guitar playing here play so well off each other. Lindsey & Mick have never fallen out - that's why I keep holding out for that one last tour of the world that Fleetwood Mac do. For the fans, because it's truly magical what they do together.
Mick going full on those drums! Lindsey is amazing 👏
@@grampereyra3852 If you close your eyes, it's almost hard to tell where the drums leave off and the bass begins; they are just SO in tune with each other. Decades and decades of playing together really shows!
Complete band, I would say. Everyone plays their part to perfection.
@@YouKnowWhereYouWentWrong Nicks broke the Chain and ended the Legacy on that note. Tragic way to end.
Why is it when they talk about the great guitarists Lindsey is never mentioned? This shows why he is up there with the best of all time!!
The public and press was mesmerized by the Stevie and their pop stuff... (still is)
Not only is he up there with the greats but most people don't realize he never uses a pick. This man truly feels everything he plays.
True. See him doing that acoustic version of Big Love! WOW. And Tango In The Night... Sorry Peter Green Fans but you can all cry into your beards because wghile the long-fingernailed old hermit is struggling for living space with his years-old jar of piss and boxes of his own shit in a dingey London flat, LB is STILL rocking the world.
When they talk of the "Guitar 🎸 Gods" Lindsey gd Buckingham is One!!!! Love 💖 from Boston ⚓
there is no correlation between talent and commercial success.
besides, what do you mean by "THEY"'? "I" is way more important word than "they". "I" is the only word than matters. and "I" say Lindsey is great!!!!! What does your "I" say?
Where is the "I worship this" button ? This has to be one of the most intense songs and performances in existence.
I love how Lindsey embraces himself at the end of the performance- this is not an act, through his music he shares his most intimate emotions with the audience, connecting to them as if was on a physical plane. In the end, he is an emotionally vulnerable state, especially due to the song's meaning. After his self-hug, he is filled with joy and excitement that he achieved this level of openness. Just amazing.
Same as robin trower and many others
I love that interpretation.
Totally spent. His music is his orgasm: his release...He spent almost 4 years on the original song getting everything right...so I understand why when he does this song he "feels" his way all the way through the song.
@@theunknown5518Weird way to explain it, but its true
Lindsey's guitar playing on this song actually made me cry as well when I was watching it one day at home. His performance is so powerful, when the song ended I had to shut it off and take a breather.
+Steve Augello Street of Dreams gets me, great song. Saw Lindsey in Seattle back in early 90's, changed my life.
It made me cry as well. Just WOW! YOU CAN FEEL HIS EMOTION! AMAZZZING!
I agree....this song moves me!!!!! It's beautiful
I just had the same feeling this exact moment! Wow that was AWESOME!
Concordo 💯🎸👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼🇧🇷
I really don't ever comment on this, but I really can't contain myself. I mean the talent man! Oh my! Seriously Lindsay Buckingham on that guitar! Did you know he taught himself to play? Legend! I've heard this particular live version dozens and dozens of times and it never gets old. My dad introduced me to this when I was about 5 and I still love it aged 36. Partly because it reminds me of dad, mostly because it's timeless genius! I'm obsessed
Seriously one of THE GREATEST GUITAR SOLO's EVER !!!
My brother gave me the "Rumours" tape for my 8th birthday. 48 years later I am still in love with this guitar solo! ♥🎸🎸🎸♥
Omfg, I've listened to Lindsey for 40 yrs and this is his best performance...Period.
this and come.
Yep! Saw his in Seattle in 1991, was GODLY
I'm lucky because this is the first I saw of it!
EVER! RIGHT!!!
@@mattcoffee1269 pretty weird. He was not in Fleetwood Mac nor touring solo in 91.
Quite possibly the most epic guitar solo in the history of rock. He is TOTALLY in the zone.
Any version of this song is TOO short! The power and the despair of this song is incredible! Thanks for the video.
in my humble opinion buckingham is a seriously under rated guitarist wow amazing work
Richard Jones I dont think hes ever been underrated so much as unappreciated/unnoticed when they were at the zenith of their careers due to the wildly popular commercial appeal of stevie nicks. Musicians always held him and his talent in high regard particularly for his unique picking style which often sounds like two guitarists. But it was Stevie Nicks voice and looks that were moving those early records and the pop charts rarely care about virtuoso guitarists.
I was 15 years old when the single "Dreams" was released, it spent many weeks at #1 and all males my age were dreaming about Stevie.
I honestly cant see why you think he’s under rated as he’s the lead guitarist in fleetwood mac. One of the best bands of the last 40 years.
Richard Jones you obviously don’t play
Lindsey is there best investment ever they made all there money from his great song writing singing production music but not a virtuoso but he was fleet wood Mac the the guitar player s before him were all better but different style he turned them around and made them a hit machine as far as Steve nicks not needed at all anymore buckingham wrote for her on 2 great lps then she went over the cliff
I've been to many Fleetwood Mac concerts and Lindsey never ceases to amaze me. The raw passion he puts in everyone of his performances is simply brilliant. without a doubt one of the best guitarists of all time.
Most underrated and soulful rock guitarist ever.
Damn. Just Damn! Everyone is awesome in this. Every time Mick Fleetwood hits his snare it sounds like a pistol shot and gives this song it's soul. John McVie is flawless as usual on bass. He lays down the line Lindsey plays too.. Him and Mick are so good together. Christine McVie incredible keyboards that sound haunting. Stevie Nicks sounds cool backing him up plus she just looks cool. Lindsey Buckingham? Damn. Well, ya know, he just, well, DAMN!
You can see it in Lindsey's body language, how he becomes literally ONE with the guitar when he plays I'M SO AFRAID! Its so awesome, so breathtaking, quite mesmerizing as well, always loved his guitar skills and CRIMINALLY UNDERRATED!
Sublime. The raw emotion displayed in the lyrics and the long drawn out solo's make this a total underrated masterpiece. I have run out of superlatives to describe this piece of musical perfection. In the right moment this is unparalleled. It's a song that's grown over the years. Listen to the Original from the 1975 LP then listen to this. Take a bow Lindsey. You're truly a maestro.
Allan Blackstock do you know anything about music at all that long drawn out 2 note solo is the only solo
daniel connolly are you tone deaf ????
Absolutely a genius sooo torturing is the raw emotion. I have no words. I never do. Lindsey take a well deserved bow and again and again. The thousandth time hearing and again you are soooo gifted. Love you Lindsey. God Bless you.
Channeling Jimi.
Great comment. I recently saw an early live performance of this. Having heard where the song is now. Truly shows the genius of Lindsey and the progression of the band. You are so right he has ascended to maestro. Incredible playing just pouring emotion through that instrument.
This is ten minutes well spent....what a tune!
Lindsey is FUCKING BRILLIANT !!! What a performance..His talent leaves me speechless ! I LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS MAN !!!
Pink Floyd - Comfortably Numb / Fleetwood Mac : I'm so afraid.
Two masterpieces , two great guitar solos
EltonJohn Tribute i get you , stairway to heaven back at ya Oh & freebird oh yaeh freebird extended!
Easy now.....Lets not get carried away!
Still, if angst and fear have ever been translated to guitar better, i'd like to hear it. Come on. This is fear on a stick.
In my opinion this is the best version they have done. Beats all other live versions here on RUclips.
no matter which version of this song and solo you click on, despite them all being different, they all smoke of virtuosity and raw talent and energy. I can't find the right words to describe how moved I am by every version I've ever heard of this song.... beautiful, heart wrenching and ripping...powerful on a deeply visceral level
Thanks for posting
Kathi T LB's one from live at bass performance hall is this times 5, but man, there is no such thing as bad Lindsey!
Kathi T I saw them last week in Manchester-No video does justice to how good it sounds live...I was too preoccupied with being sat there with a big daft grin on my face to think about filming it...awesome
agreed, seeing him play this song in concert is transcendental... an out of body experience
I could not have said it better myself. Completely agree!
Kathi T virtuousity ?
Watched this umpteen times and still can't believe how utterly fantastic it is !!!
He is the most underrated guitar player in the world. He KILLS it.
I am breathless. This was GODLIKE!!! Lindsey had such a throwback to his 80's chaotic style which embraced to fullest in this performance, combining it with his decades of experience and the sophistication of the band's 90's era.
A.M.A.Z.I.N.G.
Saw him in teh Moore theater in seattle, 1991, he did 6 encores!
Lindsey is an outstanding guitar player. Completely underrated. He blows me away. This song is so haunting and I'm moved every time I hear him play. His voice is unbelievable as well. He plays in a very bluegrass style. No guitar pic. It blows my mind.
I felt like this when my beloved mother passed away far too young a week to the hour after my second baby was born no more sunlight no more spring rain just pain. I have my children to thank for keeping me sane and able to cope stronger every day.My husband did his best for me he lost his mother too soon and understood the loss of my dearest friend
Now THAT'S a guitar hero! This chokes me up every time I hear it, and seeing it live absolutely brought me to tears and made me forget to breathe. LB feels this to the very core of his being and that's what makes him so good!
One of the best ever! His style and technique are unbelievable!
Certainly in my top 3 tracks of all time!
Such an INCREDIBLE Piece of Music and Performance!
Damn this is the best solo he ever played - shivers... Great!
For me as a rock fan of over 50 years. This is my favorite solo's ever!
GOODNESS GRACIOUS, LINDSEY!!! Truly gave it all he had here, all his heart and soul poured out.
One of the best solos ever
For a man that never had a guitar lesson he can get down on that thing Lindsey Buckingham taught himself how to play the guitar he never had a teacher his style is unlike any other he is one of the best in history and the
best from his time
Passion doesn't come from lessons. It comes from your soul, that's why he is good & up there with the best.
Jimmy Page didn't take guitar lessons
Colby Croy that’s not true he learned from listening to banjo and his style is classically trained guitar not self taught he’s good at that but he s an average to below average guitar player otherwise
mamba0465 he has no passion he writes pop songs
It takes those drums on the bottom end punctuating & melding with those manic guitar riffs to really really make this song MONSTER. 💙
One of the all time greats, probably the best version of this song I've seen.
Easily the best performance of this song I've seen/heard yet.
Wow these guys get better with age. LB is probably one of the most underrated guitarists ever.
Fabulous performance of guitarist Lindsey Buckingham.! This is one of the best versions of I'm so afraid. Thanks for posting!
thanks to everybody who left a comment, I read them all, I'm happy to see there are others with the same music taste.
The man put every thing he had for this song.
Blown away!!!
This is 100 times better than his 1997 The Dance DVD performance. Amazing performance. I must have watched this a gazillion times since a friend told me about it last week. Thanks.
Sheila Hogerheiden 2015 version better yet
I shall find it. You must have seen them in concert then.
Just perfection. Lindsey, one of the greatest guitarists ever.
Amazing. He poured his heart and soul into that solo.
100%👏👍✅
If I was there, definitely I'd lost my Sanity !!, awesome perform
+Ali Bakhtyari awesome performance indeed
My God how I adore this man. What a talent. Love him!
Saw Fleetwood Mac live in London last year. While performing this song I was about to die... Buckingham is such a great underrated guitarist. He's fantastic.
His stage presence is equally as awesome as his guitar playing!!
You just can't beat the raw emotion and feeling of a live performance. Fantastic band
I've heard Lindsey do this many times and each version is unique.
the most underrated guitarist ever
I just saw Fleetwood Mac this past Friday and I was blown away when they performed this song. What a treat it was! I had never even heard that song til then. I will tell you......for me, that performance alone was worth the price of admission. It was just awesome!!
Lindsey NAILED IT TO THE MAX!!! BEST Preformance EVER!!
Like fine wine. They just get better.
I can listen to this over and over and over. Never gets old…
The song of my youth. What comfort I gained, What courage it takes t face your own fears. How awesome to preform them. Nobody plays like Lindsey Buchingham...
WOW!!..I mean just.....wow.
He's so great and talented , a mix between David Gilmour and Mark Knopfler but also with his signature touch .
This is too good to simply be called amazing
No hay mejor banda¡ el talento en guitarra, bajo, batería, teclados y la inigualable voz de esa belleza de mujer¡... Fleetwood Mac hay algo mejor? no lo creo...
Best 10 minutes I've spent in a long time, what an amazing, amazing, unbelievable performance! I'm still in a trance :)
My most favourite piece of music of my whole 64 years. Listening and watching revives my heart and stirs my soul. Words aren’t enough ❤
That transcends guitar playing, that is some soul sharing from Lindsey Buckingham! Thank you Lindsey..................you healed me many times over................
Like a fine wine! He's not older, just more...experienced. Lindsey's on fire here! My absolute favorite version of this masterpiece.
OMGoodness, I have seldom seen so much emotion poured into one song!Thank you Lindsay for sharing that with us, you're audience.
David Viar me
im 15 and it seems to me that my generation does not know what true music is now this has to be one of the greatest guitar solos of all time possibly only rivaled by some of david gilmours stuff. People of my age need to see past the apparent good looks of the performer and see true talent and this guy has it in bucket loads
We need more like you my friend... :)
Ah, it's good to see the younger generation appreciate good music
+Glenn Chaisson in deed it is
+Alex Long mate you need an intro to Neil Young. Like a Hurricane, Down to the river, and Cortez the killer
+Alex Long I love what you say. But there are so many other guitar player, have a look to Rory Gallagher - A million miles away; Gary Moore - Shapes of things; Fleetwood Mac with Peter Green - The Green Manalishi; Carlos Santana - Black Magic Woman; John Fogerty - I put a spell on you, the same song from Samantha Fish. (This young Lady is awesome). And there are so many more....
God I love listening to Lindsey play. You can just drift away with it. You forget everything but the music. He has got to be one of the all-time greatest ever
He is without doubt, one of the greatest musicians to come from this country. It is too bad that much of his career was muddled with his personal life being exposed by a far less talented member of that band.
What I love so much about this song and the extended guitar solo is that it does not sound planned and choreographed. It comes across as a total spontaneous outpoor of feelings that were hidden down below. Lindsay gets like taken away with the eruption and his finger just let it all happen. Sher Musicality!
My all-time favourite performance of this song! It never stops giving me chills, no matter how many times I've listened to it already...
Thank you so much for posting this video!
You're welcome.. Happy to do so
+Miss Tardis I love this song to bits, but "The Dance" version of this solo is by far my favourite.
+Miss Tardis Also, Doctor Who is the best.
Wicked !!! Give it up for John McVie !! A nothing song without him !!!
Never was a huge fan,but this guy had lifetime couple of minutes. Slayed it.
Lindsey absolutely KILLS at this concert - every single song is amazing. With some musicians that tour for many years, you can get the feeling that it's become a little mechanical and stale. One of the many things I love about Fleetwood Mac is that it never feels that way. In every single live show, they all totally commit to making it their best performance. Even when they hated each other, and even after 30 years of playing these songs together, you can still feel how much they genuinely love the music.
LB is in a class all his own!!! Otherworldly level of indescribable talent, especially live. Passionate & on friggin fire... HOT HOT HOT! ❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥❤
Realmente esta interpretacion es espectacular, sublime, propia de unos elegidos, virtuosos de ese instrumento tan maravilloso que es la guitarra y Lindsey Buckingham es uno de ellos.Emocionante esta actuacion.
The way he plays that guitar, though.....I'm dead...and he's the sexiest guitar player ever. He makes it wail.
I saw the Mac live on this tour back on 6/1/2003 in Greenville, SC, and this was the song I was looking forward to most. I was NOT disappointed. A RUclips video doesn't do it justice like being there does. I thought Mick's drums were going to blow my insides to kingdom come and back, just BOOMING man! I think the whole arena shook. He went much wilder on the drums than he did here in this performance, and Lindsey's solo was perfect as usual. I still have a recording of it on a bootleg that I play every now and then so I can relive that moment in time.
No better R&R rhythm section than John and Mick. Songs like this are why the Mac is one of the greatest bands in R&R history.
My favorite version of this song, ever. So much intensity, Lindsey has such a demanding stage presence. Stevie's harmonies in the chorus help give that extra chill factor, it's just so ENCHANTING! 💖
Mother dear!!! My God!!! What is he doing to me?! I’m crying! It’s tears of joy and sad memories at the same time! Great musician Lindsey! Great! It was enough for him to sing and play only this one song to enter the history of rock music! Glory!!! Bravo!
I love him singing this, he really gets into it. You are spectacular Lindsey, so special. I love you.!K.❤
This is what is referred to as a musical catharsis. Stunning beyond belief.
Underrated Guitar player. Long live the Music of Fleetwood Mac!
I just came across this live of I'm so afraid and i literally have the chills.. Lindsey is putting all his body and sould in this song, simply ethereal
I’ve seen Lindsey do this song in concert several times and is unquestionably the most electrifying live performance I’ve ever seen - truly phenomenal and no pick !!!!
This has got to be THE definitive performance of this track, surely! Despite growing up in the 80s and being familiar with their chart stuff, I didn't actually realise that FM rocked this hard. This video is also the first time I've seen Lindsey Buckingham perform live, and jesus christ this guy can rock! Cheers for the upload!
Jeff Barker I love Lindsay's guitar solo in this song the most... by far of any artist...and of all his work.... but his Solo rendition of "Big Love" is also something that hits the soul... both make my hair stand on end.... but both our uniquely righteous...
His guitar made me cry... I dunno why
+김동환 same here!
+김동환 im still weeping
+김동환 I do...
Because you are drunk or high. Lmao!!
Because it strikes a sensitive nerve
My favorite Mac song and favorite live version right here!!!!
Oh my god ! Look at Lindsey ... He's playing like he's from heaven. What a guitarist !!! Man...who dare not love this thing .... Fleetwood Mac will always be the best. This is real music now.
The best thing about this song is everybtime you see it live', you tell yourself' " it does not get any better than this" One of rhe best doing his thing
I am sure anyone sitting in those first few rows will never witness something that great again.
This is one of his best solos...period! Visions of Hendrix danced in my head!
After a couple bowls, I can't even begin to move on until I've seen at least 2 more examples of virtuoso can soothe my world .
