Jesus so many damn laws. Its gotten so ridiculous, we work as slaves for nothing. I want to get a tiny house to get out of my literally shitty life, its killing me!!! Im so exhausted
Dont give up hope. Tiny houses are becoming more and more recognized and new laws are being passed or at least considered all the time.
That is the plan. Work you so many hours that you literally have no time or energy to do anything about what is going on in the world (human exploitation), leaving you so exhausted and discouraged..seeing no end in sight...so that you literally see giving up (or getting out) as the only alternative.
I started exploring this tiny house purchase back in 2010 and it's almost impossible to do unless you have family land i a rural setting far away from any city/town, or you become a renter to a mobile home/rv park where the rents keep skyrocketing.
Now, we need some of the laws or we'd have neighborhoods filled with entitled tiny homeowners dumping their sewage illegally instead of forking over the many thousands of dollars it takes to have land properly developed and connected to the public system...or have a sound containment system installed. If you've ever traveled to Santo Domingo or Haiti, you see it is an island surrounded by beaches and ocean with !!CHOLERA!! warning signs plastered *everywhere you look* on the beaches, warning people not to swim. That is because people don't dump their sewage legally or safely, and it just runs off into the ocean. You can't even swim around the island of Hispaniola where The Dominican Republic and Haiti are. Seriously. Until you've seen that in person, it's hard for an American to comprehend, but that is what people will do when laws are not enforced (or people are too poor to be able to afford the appropriate permits and construction to *safely* build small homes).
The only way out is to earn insane amounts of money so you can afford a mortgage on a home that is too large and more than you need, and that is so politicians can get the taxes they need to pull in the incomes they want in the municipalities where they're employed, Seriously. Cheaper, smaller homes mean less tax money for towns and cities, and that means less pay for everyone who is employed in those cities and towns. It's a HUGE financial circle of dependency.
The zoning laws vs building laws. The tiny homes will always meet and go beyond the regulations to building laws, it is the zoning laws on what is on the land the building type even when the land is zoned for residential usage. It is the type of quality of tiny homes which is doing regulated by zoning laws if they are prefab high quality tiny homes much easier to set as residential, people have to attend and attend to zoning laws ND being available for zoning meeting when you currently live out of state would be a challenge. I hear you😊
Her name isn't Jesus
I agree with all of this! We are all slaves 💯

You should feel very proud and relived that you pulled this off. It's a very difficult thing to do, and TN is one of the easiest states to do this in, and it's still difficult.
Congratulations!
I've been researching this since 2010, waiting...and waiting...hoping the laws would change. lol In most states, it's only gotten more difficult. Tn is one exception.
Of course, you can buy a tiny house...and then spend the rest of your life *renting* a lot from a mobile home park. smh
Thank you so much. I think one of the reasons my tiny house was allowed here was because there was a single wide mobile home on it...so the tiny house acts as an ADU. I even have it insured as an ADU.
Thank you for the best information that I have received in my search for my land. It helped me decide to NOT look anymore, simply because of all the hidden fees and costs associated with the process. I just am not in a financial position to continue this quest. This sad for me, since I may be homeless in a short time from the place that I presently rent. Not sure where or what direction I will go now. Thank you again for your insightful information. Blessings. Maggie B.
Oh nooo! Im so sorry to hear that my video deterred you from finding land. I appreciate the compliment on the video being insightful as that is what i aimed for. Althoigh i am kind of glad it was there to help you decide against it because of the fees. If i had known about the fees before going tiny, i may have decided against it, too. But now being on my land after 1.5 years, i wouldn't change a thing. Its been an amazing ride. I hope you find a reliable option for you. Sending you tons of positive vibes ✨️
Hi there: I'm not giving up on finding that special place too. I know in my heart there is a spot for me. Your information was so valuable to me even though it did gave me a pause in my plans. I thank you for your reply and support. I am grateful for your sharing with all of NEW comers. Blessings, Maggie B
@@texasstarmagazine glad to hear you arent giving up on finding your place. You'll get there. Best of luck to you on your journey. You know where to find me if you need tips from my experiences ✨️ ❤️
I have been meaning to purchase a property and put in a container home but after hearing of all the permits. It scares me a little bit
I can imagine. It was nerve wracking for me, too. You just have to do your due diligence and ask the counties you're looking in if its allowed. Focus on unrestricted areas. Theres a link in this video that might be able to help you. There are certain counties and cities that allow tiny living. Even if you have to abode by one of the counties permits, at least you'll know their stipulations in making it work. Write down lots of notes...weigh pros and cons and you will find something eventually! Best of luck....you got this!! 🤗🏡
HOLY CRAP. You do NOT just go purchase property...you can't just plop a container home anywhere you want to do so. Hire a real estate attorney or very experienced realtor before you lose thousands you can't recoup. smh
You should be nervous, and I do mean very VERY nervous. It's a living nightmare trying to build a home site. This isn't rural Mexico.
@@le_th__Not everyone knows as much as you do chill lol.._
My family has always been housing unsure or with a potential for one of several of us to be homeless and I’m really trying to figure it out
In the last I was like let’s buy a big house but no. We are too individual
Then: let’s by a lot of land and build houses with. Big communal building in the center.
I’ve adjusted down so much my latest is if
6 of us enter into a 6-10 acre deal and put tiny houses on it with a build as we go type of communal building. I’m hoping with all of us pitching in it would be doable. Almost afraid to watch this but watch I will.
Those ideas are all great ideas! You just have to make sure you can do what you're planning. If you get a realtor to work with you, they can help navigate the legal stuff. They can call the counties for you and explain your idea and the zoning officisls will say if its allowed or not. You could make several plans and tell the realtor about all of them and each property you look at you can ask the zoning about each plan. Wirth a try!
Be very cautious of Air B N B... it isn't as easy or profitable as you think... if profitable at all
Facts
Its easy and profitable to me! Im sorry you didnt have as much luck! 😔
Hi, thanks for the information, good advice. I didn't see how old your video is but the website you mention "Tiny House Central" looks to be sold or no longer up.
Thank you! Tiny House Central is my group on facebook 🙂
@@TinyDreamer Is it private? It does not come up in search on FB

@@TinyDreamer Found it. Came up this time. Thanks
Great inf, i am looking for a land to set up a Tiny house, i am not sure which states allows it.
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed! There should be a list in the description of this video showing what states are more likely to accept them. Each state, county, city, all have different rules so you may have to call the zoning for the specific properties you're looking at. I came to find that it took a lot of research and weighing pros and cons to finally find the right place and who would accept me. Wishing you the best in your land search!!
Any similar information for Canada?
I have not researched the rules and regulations of buying land in canada. There's a lot that goes into the process of trying to find out if things are legal or not. So, i'm sure it's different in canada than it is in the united states.
In some counties tiny houses are illegal.check with your country
What kind of Septic did you put $1375 seems very low for a Septix
it was septic from the mobile home to the tiny house. The main septic was already there.
A main septic is about $10,000
The website is down
Right now they have a family emergency going on and it will be back up shortly!
Hi, I'm Set on Buying & Living in a Tiny Home/Shed. I'm Saving Money for 1 1/2 Years. I Have Questions of course, Should I Focus on Getting Land First??.. I'm a Budget Shopper so to Speak. Do They Have Rental Lot Spaces??.. Please Help with Any Info or Advice??.. Thanks. 9/11/22. ✌️
Thanks for your comments and questions! That's awesome you've decided to go tiny! In my experience, I bought the tiny house first and made sure i had a legal place to park/rent until I found land. I stayed in 3 different places. A campground, an airbnb homestead and stay and a friends homestead. Each was very temporary while I looked for my land that allowed tiny houses. Some people do look for land first. I think it woukd work either way as long as you have a legal place to park until then. Start with campgrounds and ask if they allow renting to tiny houses on wheels. It'll be more affordable rent. Mine was $350.

Are you planning on turning your property into a community?
A little community, yes..not monthly rented spots but airbnb nightly. The guests will be able to utilize the "community" but it'll only be me living there, if that makes sense.
Yes ma’am makes sense! But if you ever change your mind there are so many who wanna get into a tiny home community looking for someone who understands the lifestyle…. Thank you for answering and best wishes to you
@@DC-dx3le yes, I agree. It used to be my plan but zoning around here doesnt really allow full time living of more than 1 or two houses. I have my tiny house and my mobile home. I'd probably have to talk to the county or zoning to see if I could get it changed to commercial land rather than residential. Who knows if they'd go for that but I can try. Theres a bunch of rules that I might have to abide by like installing more septic tanks, which I do not have the money for...so my airbnbs would have portable loos, so to speak and I would have to spend thousands just to provide extra houses all that stuff. It's way too much.
@@TinyDreamer yes I definitely understand especially living vicariously through your trials and tribulations, but you are definitely an inspiration! Love your videos and again thank you for putting the information out to all of us.💐

Sounds like a damn nightmare. I just want to live off the land and build a mushroom farm. Is that too much to ask for.
I am going to agree with you there. Too many rules and regulations, its insane. 😩
