- Diagnosing riding mower safety switches can be a real pain! This video will show you how to bypass the safety switch for testing and troubleshooting. There is a hidden anti tamper device on the safety switch connector itself that sometimes malfunctions and makes the mower inoperable. This secret hidden switch must be removed in order to even troubleshoot the cause of the mower cutting off.
This video covers many brands of mowers including husqvarna, mtd, yardman, briggs, craftsman, ariens, gravely, exmark, john deere and more and also applies to zero turns and riding mowers. Хобби
Thank you for this hack. I have been investigating a no click/no start off and on for almost 10 days. This fixed my problem and did not cost me any money. Many thanks.
I cant explain how much this video helped me, one little switch controls all that, Thanks you have a new subscriber who's mower works again Thanks
Awesome thanks!
This video helped me so much thanks for explaining it so well and the illustration was wonderful you can't beat this video ❤
You sir are the man! Thanks for showing us this!🤙
Also, to add some context for my situation, I needed to jump my battery on my Craftsman T210 after it sat all winter. Couldn't put my boost pack on the battery under the seat, while also pressing the brake, satisfying the seat switch, and turning the key.
Super helpful. I thought it was the switch (and was right) this helped me figure that out. Thanks!
Glad it helped
Thanks you just made my life a lot easier
You are a legend mate, thanks
Great tips! God bless!
Thank you
Thanks,, exactly what I needed to test the sensor.
Thank you, I was able to figure out this HQ Z248 issue.
Awesome
in my book YOU are a f*&KING genius my friend / i NEVER would have found that problem !! thx sooooo much
Haha glad it helped!
Thank you.

Thank you🤘🏻
I need to replace the green connector that plugs into the safety switch. What is it called?
Thanks!!
Glad it helped!
Hey cool. Gotta try that
So can you leave the anti tamper devise out and put the connector back on the seat and then it will function just fine?
Yes. The anti tamper is just there so you can't unplug it and leave it unplugged
Is this safety switch located somewhere else on Toro LX420.
Sadly no idea on those
The "teeth" on mine aren't sticking that far as on your video; I can't get pliers on them
Id try a pick of some sort
So simple and so effective! Wow. Thanks a lot. The mower still dies once the spindles start to engage, so I guess the problem isn't the seat switch. I didn't think it would be, but worth a try. And now, when I'm bouncing along on my uneven ground, I won't have to stop every 30 feet to restart the blades.
I removed this clip from a Craftsman mower but it still works just like it did with it in place. 🤔
Idea what's going on or how to solve (????)
Same
why cant you just cut the grounding ?
Can't we just cut the wires going to all the safety switches, then join the two wires or fuse them together and tape them up?
cutting the wires requires work, cutters, tape, splicing, just pull metal piece out and put the seat down and your done !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Didn't change anything
That stinks, what's your symptoms? I can try and diagnose it from here
Same here. Metal piece pulled out, mower didn't give a crap. If I shift slightly on the seat it wants to kill the engine. If I push the blade engagement bar up at the steering wheel to start the blades it kills the engine. If I move slightly off the center seat where the safety switch is depressed it will kill the engine. 😠
Plugging it back in didn't work. It still works the same.
Don't plug back in. In the case of my zero turn skag you need to jump the two outside puns together to imotate a switch closed state as it is when you are sitting down. I had to use a ohmmeter to check my switch to chk the state of the pins when the switch is open vs closed.
Mine don't have four goddamn "teeth"
Let's talk about the wheels and tires on your car. That's why you're showing it off in the background right
Those factory wheels are ugly on the Mustang
Wrong
I put a new battery and a new starter and a new starter relay a I turn the key and it does nothing, so what am I doing wrong with this mower
Need an electrical tester to confirm power is going to the starter, if no power to the starter then use the tester to make sure its going to the solenoid. If no power to the solenoid then check the key switch to make sure its working.
