Completely disagree with you on this. I come from a Tier 5 college in West Bengal . I spent 2.5 Lakhs for my engineering course inflation adjusted may be it would be close to 8 lakhs for 4 years now and I was earning 30 LPA after 10 years of experience and most people around me from similar backgrounds are working on similar pay. I am a data engineer which is lucrative field but even those working on traditional and legacy technologies are not earning anything less than 25 lakhs after 10 years . When you join as a fresher in company you are tightly budgeted and live in PGS paying rent no more than 7000 (food included) . More so purchase power parity in India makes life easy even when you are earning 30K as a beginner and when you keep working on your skills you are bound to make big. I came here searching for greener pastures getting lured by weather and so called free healthcare. The amount students pay here to get a diploma in an ordinary college is almost equal to enrolling for MBA in Tier 2 college in India . The fact of the matter is people are overpaying for an under demand curriculum here that will most likely not fetch them a white collared job

It's look rosy from outside, in Canada job opportunities are far less compared to India. There is a catch for those earning money after the diploma they might feel earning a lot compare to India!!

Many Indians often praise Canada over India, but they sometimes overlook the fact that India has given them so much, from childhood until they move abroad. In reality, they owe a lot to India, yet they often make Canada their entire focus. It’s unfortunate when some individuals criticize India after moving abroad, forgetting the opportunities their homeland provided. They may prefer working labor jobs in Canada rather than making an effort in India, where hard work can also lead to success. It's essential to appreciate both countries for their unique offerings without putting one down. India, too, is full of opportunities-whether you want a good job or start a business. With the right skills and mindset, there's no limit to what you can achieve!

Please stop selling dreams to people. Those who arrived here prior to 2022 are probably living comfortably, but the experience is much, much different for newer students.
I picked a good major in STEM at a good University. Nearly everyone I know who graduated from my program are struggling to find jobs. This is despite many of them having lot's of prior experience back home. The few who are employed have had to start at technical support and helpdesk. The fact is that unlike the US, Canda has a very limited market and thus, less jobs. You can spend all the time networking and upskilling that you want and still be rejected from entry level roles.

However, all of them managed to get a job with good companies and are now being funded by their companies in Master degree. I have seen people with STEM courses and post graduate degree from Universities struggling to get job. Basically there are no domestic industries in Canada which will employ STEM students. Whichever are there, they give preference to white graduates mostly and this is true for every job in North America as whole. I would advise students to stay in India, gain quality experience and then think of moving abroad.

Lekin dost same ia true for India. Yeh sab India ke tier 3 college se bhi karoge, to job lagegi, India mein, achhi lagegi. Rs 6LPA initially, uske baad within 3 years you will be at 25 LPA, before 30 you will be at 40 LPA.
Now it's your choice, you want to earn Rs 80 LPA in Canada or Rs 40 LPA in India.

@@KunalKMehta08 I make $250k USD now and I’ll let you convert that. But I hit $100k in about 4 years after graduating in Canada. What you’re missing is the mobility and proximity to the U.S. I moved to New York last year and was only possible so easily because I first got in a big tech firm in Canada. You either have to be incredibly smart to move to this level if you’re coming from India or do a very good masters in the U.S. but Canada provides a great global platform for the future, or atleast it used to. If I move to India now in Bangalore, the salaries are insanely high, versus if I only stayed in India.

    • @KunalKMehta08
      @KunalKMehta08 Месяц назад

@ChasingBogeys , for one, congratulations for achieving the great American Dream, it's great that you did it.
Now coming to the salary part, and please no disrespect to anyone, I will only go by the tools out there. According to Salary Equivalent Calculator, USD 250K in the US amount to little over 50 LPA in India, in purchase parity terms, not dollar conversion. Let's take a margin of error of 20%, very high side if I may say, that means 60 LPA.
Now I am not even adding the emotional aspects of family etc I the calculations. So, now it's upto people to decide what they might want to do?
60LPA in India is highly achievable, by the age of 35-40, which is great money, you are in top 1% of India, with almost all doors open for you.
There is no way we can achieve dollar conversion rates, but we can achieve purchase parity rates with ease.
BTW, I myself came from US after completing my MS CS and working there for 5 years. I may have made more money in the US, but the life I am living here is nothing short of magical.
Again, you will have to work hard, be flexible, add new skills, to achieve great levels in India and elsewhere, world is not what it was 20 years ago.

My gf is South American, my best friend is French, and my parents both have permanent residence and visit for a few months every year. I enjoy going to the national parks with my dog here hiking, and enjoy snowboarding and skiing. Also love the ease of travel with my US$. Btw now if I move to India my salary would be more than 80LPA at my company, but I have spent all my adult life in North America and I can’t see myself with Indian bosses or clients, but that’s again a personal thing. My point was that things are not all bad and gloomy abroad, but as you said, you have to work smarter and harder now anywhere in the world. As we speak I am doing the ML architect pathway at Google to upskill myself. Btw Kunal, I also am happy that you found a great balance back in India :), as we see with both of us, the roads of happiness are different for people!

I’m Mohit in this case, came with $10k initially to Canada(2009) as an engineering student plus some loan and making $250k+ now. Entered six figures in 2015. Started with an advanced diploma and converted to degree while working later. I completely agree with you Gursahib, can’t generalize such a massive thing, it’s all subjective to people and career path. You can’t also have a non tech person forced to learn deep tech.

@@mkzai to be honest, blue collar fields like mechanics, welders, etc are the easiest to get into. Finance is very Saturated unless you can get a CFA charter+FRM or can do Masters in Financial Engineering. Simple economics education won’t get you anything. Other than that anything in healthcare starting from nursing, to obviously being a doctor. But even healthcare management. Also anything in petroleum, chemical etc engineering (degree not diploma) is always good in Alberta. The best field still remains tech though, and I am grateful I have always been in it since I was 15 creating apps, cos even within tech if you work for Microsoft versus if you work for Capgemini it’s not even remotely close.

Gursahib, I usually like your videos for your honest and candid takes. However, I have seen a deep-rooted bias in you regarding the courses. You seem to miss the nuance about the time you entered Canada vs. the ones entering now. Now, I am not denying that you worked extremely hard and hustled to reach where you are today. My hypothesis is that you would have been in the same place had you pursued International Business as your major in Canada, ceteris paribus. The Rohit-Mohit example that you often cite is biased, at least in the case of course selection. One can pursue International Business and do extremely well in life, given the external factors are favourable, the internal hustle is on point, and the decision making in all other aspects is proper.
