    I'm a 35 year A.S.E certified Technician and no disrespect to the less experienced Tech in the video however his advice is TOTALLY false for this Exhaust system.Tuning is needed when installing totally new complete exaust system but muffler delete doesn't require tuning and it sounds absolutely amazing with the 5 inch Carven exhaust tips... I myself own the 2021 Widebody Scatpack 392 with mid muffler delete and Carven 5inch Chrome Tips and FYI a mid muffler delete is COMPLETELY harmless to the performance of this car weather at top end, Mid range, or Iow speed performance... Dodge electronic system is very sophisticated and the Engineering of the vehicle is designed to alert the driver if at any throttle position that power has been compromised... The PCM will trigger the " SERVICE ENGINE SOON" light to the driver whenever any factory settings has been altered. If you noticed whenever a muffler delete is performed that there's no requirements to reprogram the PCM as a result because simply no factory settings has been compromised... Dude needs some more training on Automotive electrical systems before taking shots at folks about what and how they choose to mod their vehicles...IJS

    Back pressure is a myth. Exhaust scavenging is what you want. Engineering explained covered this awhile ago. I've proved this on the dyno as well. You will NOT lose torque if you cut out your muffler, resos, put free flowing piping, etc. It may move somewhere in the rpm, but it is not lost, nor does it do any harm. If there are no sensors, you don't need a tune.

    With all due respect, this guy simply doesn't know what he's talking about. The whole "backpressure" argument is complete nonsense. Opening up your exhaust doesn't cost you in performance. Deleting the resonators and adding Super 10's increased my RT's torque and gave it a great throaty bite. Performance didn't suffer in the least. I'd guess he's telling gullible people this nonsense trying to sell them expensive catback systems.

      @@mikekendrick4586 Hmm. That's really odd, man. I just did a pull in mine, and when I left 3rd at 97 mph, it was still pulling hard. Are you running quality gas? Try adding octane booster? If you did a reso delete and freed up your exhaust, it should have made the mid-range a little stronger. Outside temperature also has a lot to do with it, and the car will be more sluggish when the air is hotter. Try putting your windows down and running the heater at full blast during a pull (make sure AC is not activated). Does performance improve? If so, outside ambient temperature is likely the culprit.

    If deleting your Mids, would hurt performance or damage your vehicle. Dodge wouldve already addressed this issue. By putting out some kind of statement saying “Deleting mid mufflers will cause loss in performance and possibly damage your vehicle and void your warranty”. And there are thousands of muffler shops across America doing this. And not one mechanic has ever told me. “ Hey pal, I gotta warn you I wouldn’t do this.” The Mids on these cars are basically a straight through design anyways. Cutting the Mids off does not affect performance, only sound. Your X-pipe should provide enough “back pressure”. But if you’re one of those OCD guys that wants it clean, drop 1200 on a Borla or Corsa for a nice clean look and that “distinctive brand sound”. But if you just want some extra sound cutting the Mids off for 100-200 dollars, won’t hurt you Bro. It seems like he didn’t want to do it, and was trying to sell you an aftermarket system that he had overstocked in the back. If you ever decide to sell the car or trade your car in, keep the factory mufflers and have them reinstalled. My Son has a 2020 Charger Scatpack WIdebody Smoke Show, with Mid delete. I personally myself, like the way the stock mufflers sound over the delete. I enjoy your content Bro, keep it up!👍

    The "car exhaust needs back pressure" myth completely goes against how exhaust scavenging works to evacuate the combustion chamber. The higher the back pressure the lower the exhaust velocity. The lower the exhaust velocity the less vacuum is generated from the headers pulling spent air out of the chambers during valve overlap. I will agree that proper materials need to be used with good welding.

    Long story short get a wide band afr or scan tool note your air fuel ratio at all driving condition. When you remove restrictive exhaust components you'll run more lean because air is moving through more freely which can feel like power loss so you'd need to extend injector duration - add more fuel to get back to your recorded afr. This is how you get the power which is why people say get a tune.

    Fake news

  • @Kirsohe
    @Kirsohe 2 года назад +2

    I have talked with engineers on similar issues. However getting exhaust gasses out of the exhaust is key. However if you go too small on a exhuast it can cause the exhuast gasses to stay for longer periods of time. This in turn will cause drops in horsepower, because it can't properly push it out and flow efficiently. You can have the opposite end as well too big of a exhaust pipe means it has less flow to force exhaust gasses out efficiently causing a decrease in horsepower. It all comes into the demand of the engine as well as how free flow a exhaust is.
    Mufflers being removed has no effect besides letting those exhaust gasses out faster. Unless you can for a fact prove to me how race cars don't have a muffler yet efficiently run without any mufflers? Back pressure on a exhuast is real to extent. But usually the misconception of back pressure will cause issues if you don't keep the muffler in place is very wrong. This topic has been and always will be debated. Both exhaust pressure and exhaust back pressure are a real thing yes.
    But here is a given fact should you read it I quote "The more distinctly separate pulses an exhaust system delivers, the more positive the exhaust flow is, and therefore, the more efficiently exhaust gas is scavenged from the cylinders. In reality, exhaust backpressure is a resistance to the positive flow of the exhaust stream through the exhaust system that actively prevents effective exhaust gas scavenging. In terms of symptoms, poor exhaust gas scavenging can cause engine overheating, poor fuel economy, severe power losses, and in severe cases, it can prevent the engine from idling or even starting."
    Do I believe I know everything no not by any means, The simple fact will prove what's right and wrong. You may think I am a fool but why not come back with information of why I am wrong? not arguing and belittling a person because you think your right. Also from a verified engineer who designed the 392 hemi or hellcat?
    I will note I have nothing against anyone I will believe what I think is right just as you will. But I never do anything on my vehicle without looking at the benefits of it first. Also you can build a nice exhaust on the cheap if you do it correctly. I agree with not doing a hack job, but then again it's not your car nor your money. So it's best to just do what someone wants and let it go.

      P.S. Back Pressure is a myth is not needed to make car perform and is actually horrible for it

    • @Kirsohe
      @Kirsohe Год назад

      Yes it is. However the flows of gasses out of the exhaust is key to performance. Back pressure isn't a thing some believe it is others not. But the context it is used is completely false. You don't want exhaust gasses backing up in a tailpipe due to size. If you change the size too big it will cause the flow of exhaust gas to slow down. You will lose hp. Then too small restricts it like a bottle neck causing a loss of hp. Each engine requires the right flow of gasses otherwise performance drops.
      Back pressure doesn't make sense like I said anyone can believe what they want. However, back pressure would give the notion that the gasses would flow backwards which would never be the case or a force on the exhaust gasses to slow them which you don't want. The more efficiently the exhuast gasses are forced out of the exhaust the better a engine can perform. Hence why race cars don't have any muffler. Mufflers are there for one thing sound deadening just like resonators are for deadening exhuast drone. Not for anything more or less.
      Mufflers and resonators don't add power they remove hp power for quieter sound.

      This guy in the video here is a bit crazy. Buddy of mines father owns a dodge dealership and says a lot of the hellcats they have sold have been serviced and warrantied with no concern of the mid muffler delete. I cut mine out and my only regret is I should have done it sooner .

    If a top fuel dragster produces 8000HP with 20 inch open headers, how much HP could it make by welding the headers closed and maximizing back pressure?

    I have forced induction so removing muffler and resonators helps the car breathe. But I do agree if the car is NA just save the money for a quality exhaust. Or get some forced induction and the mid muffler delete is fine.

    Back pressure is mostly a myth though. It is not a significant cause for concern; if it was 10,000hp dragsters wouldn't have zoomie headers.
    What is really important, is scavenging, and the stock x and h pipes on Chargers and Challengers does that perfectly, with or without mufflers or resonators.

      @PotatoeJoe69 Hey man I have a question if I replace my existing factory exhaust with a borla or corsa exhaust system will that void my warranty and is it worth installing it I just want a deeper sound and better performance by the way I have a 2021 Dodge Charger Rt with resonator deletes currently.

    🤣🤣🤣 I like that mechanic. And he's right. I belong to a car club and I see this happen a lot. They buy a brand new Challenger or Charger 392 and the first thing they do is cut the pipes so it can be louder. Louder doesn't always mean faster!!!

    I dont think the mid deletes will cost any low end power - on that I disagree with him. Having said that, cutting the mids off the scats wont improve your hp at all, either. It is purely a sound change. Nothing more. What I do agree with him, though, is that replacing the nicely built and high quality (and not restrictive either) oem mids with cheap parts… that cheapens the car. Have you ever heard of lambos and porsches or even m trim bmw owners “cutting their pipes”? Or replacing their high quality oem mufs with cheap loud ones? No. Why? Cos thats what ricers do. If you cant appreciate the car that you bought, then return it, dont cut and patch it. Thats for cheap hondas, done by cheap ricers. (Buying a fully built aftermarket catback, is another story, I am only talking about cheapening / cutting / patching your awesome car here). Do it proper, or keep it proper.
