    From what I understand and have heard from others in the R/T community, the only way you might hurt your power or fuel economy is if you replace your mufflers/midpipes/exhaust with a LARGER diameter pipe. Simply freeing up restriction from the stock diameter pipes isn't an issue, but they say going from 2.25" to a 3" exhaust on an r/t for example can be an issue. If you still have mufflers and/or resonators though, they will likely restrict the flow such that a larger diameter exhaust will not cause a loss in power until those restrictive parts are removed.

Im also swapping out the valance and replacing the stock tips to a 5" round tip and have them 2 inches longer to stick out of the valance. 3:19 ruclips.net/video/A2G1EOB4P3w/видео.html Sounds like people have no idea what they're talking about. Whenever I hear anything regarding backpressure I immediately know they have no clue about building engines. You want no backpressure and if anything a vacuum. Pulling the exhaust gases out quicker is good hence why people put long tubes on. Long tubes increase scavenging pulling exhaust out of the cylinder to be ready for fresh fuel and air.

      Hey I just made a comment before I read this one, and I'm hoping maybe you can enlighten me. I've heard a bigger diameter exhaust can cause loss in low end torque, but usually only in cars where mufflers and/or resonators are deleted or high flow. Is it true that having too wide of an exhaust can lower low end torque and/or reduce mileage?

  • @barryst.pierre167
    @barryst.pierre167 Год назад

    Some help with back pressure from motor authority
    As the pulses move along, they generate an exhaust flow. If you have a restrictive exhaust system, it can generate back pressure that works against the positive flow of the exhaust gas that's trying to exit your vehicle. As Jason explains, a restrictive exhaust flow that builds up back pressure is only hurting the power your vehicle can deliver because it's not working efficiently.
    However, a little back pressure is a good thing. In fact, it helps. The right size pipe is large enough to breathe well but small enough to create a high exhaust flow. Steps in the exhaust system also create negative pressure waves that travel back to the cylinder and help empty the cylinder of those gases.

    Exhaust back pressure is not really an issue with stock cams on V8 engines. An open pipe 2.5 inch exhaust with a crossover would make the most overall power but it would be too loud. A cam change with a free flowing intake and exhaust would make the most difference. Just taking 1 muffler out of a system with Cats and three mufflers isn't enough of a flow increase to cause much issue with tuning.

      @DrivewayDreams  3 года назад

      When I got mine done it didn't affect the warranty at all but lately I have had comments left saying that dealerships are now trying to void warranties for it now. I would definitely call and ask your local dealership first. If they tell you it will void the warranty ask about other systems like Flowmaster, magnaflow or corsa because those have always been allowed.

    Mid muffler delete sound raspy when you get on it. Also the scatpack mufflers are through flow glasspacks with preferations on the inside tube. Removing and replacing with a pipe actually slows the exhaust flow. An engineer from magnafow did a long video on this.

My main concern was that the engine light would come on or that the warranty would be affected in anyway but it seems like this should not be a concern. There also seems to be some raspyness (high pitched rattle) at higher rpm on some other videos but I believe that is because it is a V6. I asked a muffler shop on this and they said to add the mid muffler delete along with a Bullet from Summit Racing to replace the rear muffler to address. Any thoughts on this, Thanks!
