Omg you guys.. I just realized I forgot to divide the rye dough into two! 😂🙈 That’s why it looks so fluffy and puffy! It is supposed to make two separate loaves! I’m going to blame it on pregnancy brain. 😅 If you make the rye bread, definitely use two loaf pans. 😝
@@annoyingbutmorallyconsistent 😊😊 Thank you! Yes luckily it turned out ok, I just couldn’t figure out why it was rising so fast …. It was because one loaf is too big for that pan! 😜🙈
@@LetsEatPlants Lol, I hate it when I do stuff like that! I've just started to play with sourdough - it's also a lot of fun if you ever have some time. You should see some of the delicious flops that has generated...😂
@@annoyingbutmorallyconsistent Yes I love sourdough! I started a starter back during covid and it’s still my favorite bread to bake. Does take a lot more time than a regular yeast dough though. 😅 I had a lot of flops too when I first started! Now I have two sourdough loaves that I make well and I just stick to those. 😂 And discard crackers! They’re my favorite.
I do too! I omitted caraway seeds from the original recipe because I hardly ever have them on-hand, but I'm keen to get some and try this recipe with them because they really help with the signature rye flavor. And YES, I did rest after this prep, and splitting it over two days helped too. Thank you! 🤗
I feel you are quite the bread baker! Love your techniques. It all looks amazing. Making me hungry. Who doesn’t love homemade made bread. Thanks for sharing❤
Aww thank you! I have learned a lot since starting sourdough in 2020, but I'm definitely a lazy baker, as I don't like to watch a lot of tutorials or try and perfect my technique. 😆 But it's been working pretty well for me so far! Wish I could share a loaf with you. 🤗🤗
I was surprised to see the sugar added to the waffle mixture. I've found sweet potatoes to be sweet enough on their own. Also, once toasted, you can add fruit or whatever topping you like.
Personal preference! You can definitely leave it out if you find them sweet enough without it. 😋 I find my husband is much more inclined to eat them when I include some kind of sweetener. As mentioned, I usually use maple syrup but that can get pricey so I wanted to give a more budget-friendly alternative. 😊
Oats are so great for new moms, glad you will have all these great homemade foods prepared ahead of time. Sending you good vibes for an amazing birth experience. Take care.
If you have a moment could you let me know how long you have had your Dutch oven? Has it been a good buy? It looks rather new, have you utilized it often? Mine is 50 years old and I don’t think I want to subject it to such high heat as baking bread. Another tuber uses the Dutch oven to make bread. It seems to work well. Your loaf was amazing. Thanks for all your inspirations. I am also going to order silicone mats on your recommendation.
Yes! I *love* this dutch oven! amzn.to/49pvmrp I've had it at least since 2021, maybe I bought it in 2020? Can't remember for sure... but I use it 90% of the time for baking, occasionally for making soup/ stew as well. It has been used quite a bit, but I take good care of it, so that's why it looks new still. 🤗 You do need to be careful with the enamel coating I think (another reason I take good care of it) as it would be a bummer if it started chipping! Whereas a plain cast iron would be more hearty... but I do love the beauty of the enamel coating. 😅 And it was a great price! I believe the directions say not to put it in the oven "by itself" (with nothing inside) at higher than 400F, but I do it all the time LOL. And I haven't tried this one at 500F, but I regularly use it at 450F with no problems. If you do see a plain cast iron dutch oven (not enameled) that would be a good option as well... just need to make sure you're taking care of it properly or it will rust. The silicone mats are great too! Glad you got some. 😊
All look delicious. Glad to see you used brown sugar in your banana bread. It add so much flavor. I do bake oil free (usually applesauce but in banana bread just extra banana) and haven't noticed a negative effect. I know the baby's due in March but don't know what date. Just wanted to wish you well with the birth in case we don't see you for a few weeks.
Thank you! That’s awesome that the applesauce is working for you! Wish it was for me too. 😅 And yes, due in March so we are just taking it all day by day.. but pre-filming a couple videos just in case. 😄
I have tried... many times and with many different recipes and it's never come out the same unfortunately. I actually get quite a bad rise with applesauce! 😣 I wish it worked well!
@@LetsEatPlants I see... There are ways to boost the rise - by adding 1 TBLS of Vinegar ( and if it's flavored well, it won't be noticed ) ... just a tip in case you want to give applesauce a try again. OOO, before I forget: when I am doing a Non-yeast bread like this, I add extra Baking Powder to help it rise more too.
@@LeeAnnahsCreations Yep, have tried the vinegar trick too. 😆 I think recipes that already have applesauce as an ingredient are usually better as they have been formulated to include it, but I've made many of those as well and still prefer this one. Appreciate the suggestions though!
😋 recipes in this awesome video Maddie and how long before the new baby is born? I think you will make a good mum. Love 💕 Maddie and ❤Q. Is Q looking forward to being a Father?
Hi Maddie, hope all is going well for. Just wondering if you have a classic waffle recipe you would be willing to share with me? I’ve invested in a machine but it has no vegan recipes. I will of course be trying your sweet potato one in due course but firstly want one for dessert x

I will add the vanilla or cinnamon next time. Can I keep the remaining batter for tomorrow? Sorry over the delay I thought this message had gone earlier but I can’t see it x
Made the granola this morning It’s easy and tastes great I figured calories, it’s about 290 in 58 grams. Good calories, very healthy. I have been spending too much time watching past videos. You have such good ideas.❤
Hahaha you definitely could! A lot of baking recipes are really hands off, maybe only 10-15 minutes is actually active time, the rest is baking time! 😃 But you can always start small too. 😊

Hi Sherry, sorry for the delayed response! This is the one I have and I love it amzn.to/3yiZBCw 😃
Can you use melted butter instead of oil?
