      Standing on the shoulders of giants is worse than Heathen Chemistry in my opinion !!
      By a whisker though !!
      Both were sheeeeiiiiitttteeeeee !!!
      Noel offends me when he criticises 'Be here now' without assassinating SOTSoG and HC beforehand !!
      DBTT was an approach of recapturing form
      DOYS was an amazing album that indicated form was on its way back
      Then that was it ......... Thus far !!!!
      They'll be back, whether that be on a trip down memory lane anniversary tour of some kind or another studio album or both remains to be seen but there's no way that Oasis won't return at some point, there's too much money in it for there not to be !!!

    This is the album that got me into Oasis and will always be personal favourite of mine. I’d narrowly missed out on the whole Brit Pop era and when Stop Crying Your Heart Out first dropped I instantly understood why they were so highly revered.

    Even though the later albums weren’t as good as definitely maybe ( what is, that’s a classic) they had at least 2 or 3 great songs on them. Some bands would give anything to make 1 classic song. Oasis made them on a regular basis.

    • @dondamon4669
      @dondamon4669 4 года назад +7

      Very true and none of there other stuff gets the respect it deserves. It’s because the upper class media couldn’t handle these working class lads getting so big and loved the fact they didn’t stay as big as said they were gonna, it’s like they delight in going on about how they failed! It’s bollox! The reality is all there later albums went to number 1 as did the singles , sold more then most other rock bands, were still selling out stadiums , still having shows dedicated all to them! They were still the biggest English rock band even though the times had changed and the DM and WTSMG years were never coming back! If you take away some of the songs written by gem and Andy the later albums still sound good!

      Paddy Partington, the chorus of Don't Go Away is entirely a rip off of the Real People. I have also seen on RUclips how many songs were stolen, and crucially, how direct the theft was. It's not 'oh, it sounds a bit like' another song, it is theft. This Hindu Times riff one is new to me, appalling. It's such a shame, it taints Noel's songwriting, and there's no point saying, "Well why aren't people suing him?" Because no one can go up against £100m plus. 🤷‍♀️

    Cracking doc. Well put together, really get a sense of the arduous, relentless nature of touring. It’s so clear as well that the end of oasis begins when Lima gets his teeth knocked out. The confidence leaves him (probably traumatised by it but would never admit to that) and probably lost the nasal clarity of his head voice. If I cracked my cello, glueing it back together wouldn’t make it ring like it used to.

    • @jonathanward7320
      @jonathanward7320 5 дней назад

      @@user-oh7iv3ij5x the only person who could stand up to Noel and tell him whether the songs were good or sh*t was Alan McGee, and Noel took his opinions seriously. Like when they had to re-record definitely maybe a number of times because McGee said it wasn’t the best it could be and hence why they needed Owen Morris to capture the sound McGee had heard in King Tuts and made him sign them up straight away. Once McGee and Creation parted with Oasis, there wasn’t that replacement to come in to fill his role, and hence nobody to challenge Noel. That’s why the standards started to slip because Noel just thought it was good enough. Listen to his interview in 2000 talking about SOTSOG and in particular the songs I can see a liar and put your money where your mouth is. In the interview he says they are the two weakest songs and the lyrics were awful. In the 90’s there’s no way McGee would allow that sort of quality to be produced on an Oasis album. Another example is the artwork, the incredible singles and album covers designed by Brian Cannons Microdot which were a thing of beauty. Look at the Let there be love single cover, it’s basically a set of Noel’s keys he had in his pocket and took a picture of that because they couldn’t be bothered to design artwork. That’s what I’m saying about the standards dropped when Oasis came into the 2000’s. If you want more evidence of this go and watch James Hargreaves video on the 90’s vs 00’s and he’ll echo everything I’ve said.

    I always thought this record would have sounded much better with a heavier, darker, more psychedelic production.
    It's well established that the demo of Hindu Times is far better than the final version.
    Force of Nature is another tune I like, soundwise.
    But the rest of the songs could really have used a real producer.....
