Saw little Barrie perform with The The. Initially I was disappointed that Johnny Marr wasn't involved (when they reformed) - but after about ten minutes into the gig, his playing had blown me away. He's a master.

For example, his song Once has a very similar chord progression to John's unparalleled classic Across the Universe. I hear that inspiration. John was the best Beatle in terms of his song writing ability and in my view will always be the best songwriter in rock and roll history. It feels like Noel and thr band were a huge part of his identity, almost like a twin bond on Liam' s part. That confidence and swagger he had in his 20s is gone, but it wasn't replaced with a mature sense of self. He comes off as uncomfortable with himself, slouching, spinning in his chair and struggling to make eye contact with the interviewer.
Love this guy great singer and a great person,he is kind to his fans which says a lot about him...he speaks his mind yes but that's a good thing no hidden depths thats what i love most about him,he makes rock and roll be rock and roll!
