There's a trick I remember seeing on the show that I don't think is on this channel. It involves the magician being placed in a large crate. It's lifted into the air, with a stick of dynamite set to blow up the crate. He escapes the crate before it's even lifted in the air.
So the magician is the distraction...not the assistants...the assistants actually perform the trick...interesting flip of psychology!
