Built Hamber Surfex HD does the job in most cases for me. I used a whole bottle of Brake Buster to clean 4 ultra dirty wheels 6 months ago. It did a great job not without a lot of elbow grease, rinse and repeat though.

Purple power is strong, cheap, and does a great job. Super clean as well but its twice the price at my walmart. I dont understand why people overpay for a dedicated wheel and tire cleaner when a good apc is just as effective.

The autodetailing industry is filled with marketing, advertising, and snake-oiled salesmen/women.

Anthony , very informative video, you got me started in detailing and Power Clean has been my go to for most of my vehicle cleaning. I do have a question. There are also dedicated tire cleaners, what are they? An APC by another name? Or something truly for tires ? What would be the advantages/ disadvantages of a dedicated tire cleaner?

Funny timing, Chicago Auto Pros did just a similar test between two APC brands, Both cleaned the tires and wheels but funny thing is that the non-acid wheel cleaner left the tires better looking! Huh...a surprise ending.

OPC at 1:20 for tires too? Seems rather diluted but I’m going to give it a try. I’m using Green Star at 1:10 for tires and works great. Would you say OPC is a stronger APC and that’s why you can go 1:20 for tires?

I tried out P&S APC, and I find it dulls the surface of anything I put it on. I’ve diluted it 10:1.

Zep Cleaner degreaser or SuperClean apc Degreasers are a tried and true effective wheel and tire cleaner as well as interior cleaner being able to be diluted down infinately defending on dirt level and surface needing to be cleaned. they also cost just a few pennies per ounce which automatically make the most sense when detailing filthy things. The day Brakebuster and Adams wheel and Tire cleaner match the price is x the day most detailers will switch to use them as their primary cleaner. this is a business to maximize profit not simply have the absolute best most expensive chemicals available. Cost is a huge factor in buying cleaners so to Adams and P&S, please find a way to make these great products worth getting regularly. SperClean is 24$ for 320 oz! there's no way im switching to Brakbuster that's 5x more expensive and c only does a slightly better job.

Ah, so that's why the tires are still brown using W5. So I did get them clean, but now the product itself causes some browning. Will Brake Buster remove the browning that W5 created?

Apc such as surfex HD for tires, bodywork. Diluted for need. 2% for bodywork where needed. 10% on grubby spots like engine bay areas. Bilt hamber auto wheels for alloys. Just works better on alloys.

I'm still using Adams Wheel and tire cleaner. Stuff works great in a foamer. But I doubt there is much difference between it and brake buster

IMO adams is a stronger cleaner. than Brake buster.. But... on maintained wheels do you need stronger..
