Even young people have many non-standard pronunciations, especially in the south. So Kath's Mandarin is indeed very, very good.

The clothes worn by those aunties are called "海青" (literally meaning: deep blue like the sea, where "青" originally refers to green, but here it is interpreted as blue, as the term "青出于蓝胜于蓝", can encompass both colors). This attire is associated with Han Buddhism and is specifically worn during worship ceremonies. There is a poem by Li Bai that goes, “翩翩舞广袖,似鸟海东来’”(Gracefully dancing with broad sleeves, resembling a bird arriving from the eastern sea.")
It's more like 青 originally encompass both green and blue. The colour spectrum is a gradient, we need to be trained to recognise the different hues in the spectrum. In the evolution of almost all languages, we can see that the words for dark (black) and bright (white) always appear the earliest, followed by red, yellow, then green/blue, and violet (proper blue) is usually the last. Some language (vietnamese for example) still have the same word for green and blue, and they differentiate it by saying leaf-green or sky-green
@@CjxJamie In ancient Chinese, the term "蓝" originally referred to a type of plant used for dyeing, but over time its meaning gradually expanded to include color in general. Meanwhile, "青" at that time represented a relatively broad spectrum of colors, possibly encompassing what we now identify as green (青草), blue (青天), and black (青丝). Since the term "海东青" has been in use for quite some time, it has persisted to the present day. However, the meaning of "青" has undergone some changes today, and it is not commonly used to describe the color blue.

Time has stood still for the better and preserved some "majestic" as you say, in out of the way villages not on foreign tourist radar. I always wait for your posts. I love the easy vibe of it. Also, love very much the music combo of country, sometimes jazz and instrumental depending in the scene. But most of all, the humanity content of it. Keep doing it.
Another great presentation of village life. My favourite one at 4:50 which is what it's like for my wife & I - our adult children often wonder how is it that we two can bicker away all day & still not understand what the other is saying! Maybe it's what is keeping us together. Keep well Katherine - I always look fwd to see what you get up to, & thx for sharing.
Those gold statues in the temple are of 濟公,a very colorful character from Chinese folklore. The man himself was real, however he was recasted into a larger-than-life character, similar to the Buddha. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ji_Gong
Thank you for another wonderful video. I found the contrast of the villagers vs the educated lady came from Hangzhou rather interesting. I am drawn to those down-to-earth villagers. I’d love to live among them.
You and our fellow Global Villagers that you encounter are an inspiration; monks storing their rice harvest within the temple precincts and tourists travelling from afar to appreciate what the older generation experienced ;the Cultural Revolution was a disaster; fragments of a rural based agricultural culture that sustained a five thousand year civilisation remain in the hands of Grandparents and you are on my wavelength to value it.
Being a Chinese living in the UK, I feel obliged to say "Henry VIII was and still is a disaster" each time I comment on any travel, architecture, culture, history video clips shot in England, just as any Westerner says "Cultural Revolution was a disaster" under each China travelogue.
I am surprised Katherine is not annoyed every time someone asks for a picture! I am sure it is understandable as many of them have never seen any foreigners in their lives. I like how she explains it is mutual benefit! lol..

The ecology and geography here does remind me a lot of some places near my hometown, especially in the fall . that’s part of what drew me back here two years later even with so many other places I could choose to go , I just really love this part of Taizhou . A Chinese version of Appalachia 🤣
The blogger have a beautiful soul, and the fate will be waiting for you somewhere in China in the future. Wish you a happy journey in China.
I love when you talk about the trees! What they must have witnessed in all this time?! peace and love from Yangshuo 🥰
Another fantastic never seen places of China of old in this modern era. Only you can produce such video of China of places never seen of people and things never shown. Is am fascinated I am thrilled to see the gems you show each time you post. As for the temple so in isolated places dotting the landscape, it reminded me of my old home and the knock back, what memories it brings me. Thank you so much. ❤️❤️❤️👏👏👏👍👍👍🙏🙏🙏
Another great video. Hello from Canada. Love your content. Oh, the noodles at the end looks so good. Great job cooking it. I think I had some in Korean restaurant.
Im so jealous. You are living the dream! When I move to Zhejiang this month ill be sure to visit all my nearby villages.
Another very interesting video showing village life in rural China and I have to say that the village looks very neat and clean. The locals are so friendly and it is always to see how excited you are when you saw your favourite animal, ie the chicken albeit a toy version.
This is surprising. It’s my hometown. I just realized it when I heard that old grandma was speaking my hometown’s dialect😂.
Time has stood still for the better and preserved some "majestic" as you say, in out of the way villages not on foreign tourist radar. With the cottage industries such as (mochi) I known as childhood treat and occasional adult also - ahum. Name of mazitum for comparison on google threw out a blank😂You do have some indiana jones in your veins, an adventurer with in the know😉.Now that I know you can cook (sweet potato noodles ?) people may invite themselves to a meal, counting me😋😛Did you asked grandma her age Katherine?
Ocean themed temples are quite common in Fujian and Taiwan due to the ocean going nature of the population.
What a beautiful village feeling you never hv the feeling in the city love Yr video awesome
Finally Kate you are into Chinese ancient history. Blessings. Zhejiang is a great place. So many to offer. Hope you enjoys it to the fullest.
The title of this vid is as anti clickbaity as it could be, but its content is gold. It's so peaceful and happy it brings a smile on my face and sunshine in my heart on this rainy day. Love from France !
You are the best presenter, Kats; you have the tack for blending in. You have a reincarnated Chinese past life-definitely!! (no, I'm not a Lama to say that😄) You literally amaze me--every episode I've been able to watch is always an A+
Nothing made me want more to see China than this video of yours. Skyscrapers of Shanghai or high speed trains are no match to this village and mountain under autumn sun.
I always wait for your posts. I love the easy vibe of it. Also, love very much the music combo of country, sometimes jazz and instrumental depending in the scene. But most of all, the humanity content of it. Keep doing it.
So wonderful! The beauty of the nature and everyone is so friendly, and it was heartwarming to see you ran into that lady again❤ awww
Love the quiet guoqing temple on the mountain with a real monastery vibe. Those big name temples are just extravagant, crowded and lack of taste.
I like this video very much. Your videos always very nice to watch.👍👍👍
Your video clips make us rich! Thank you for conveying the beauty of that wonderful country!
What a lovely, peaceful video! Thank you for transporting us there :)
Mame Catherine I'm looking your vlogs from Pakistan since 2 years, and love them, find informative❤❤❤❤
Love from Faisalabad, Pakistan.💚💚💚💚
shukriya! 😎
Your Urdu language is quiet Good.
Please send your email if possible
Thank you for bringing us to this lovely world where you wouldn't imagine you would ever go to there. Great video. Keep them coming🥰
Those gold statues in the temple are of 濟公,a very colorful character from Chinese folklore. The man himself was real, however he was recasted into a larger-than-life character, similar to the Buddha.

感谢阳离子同学把最真实的中国展现给世人。世界本来就是这样的,不同人在一起,融合、安宁、和谐地生活❤
Really enjoyed this! Thanks Kat!
Thank you for another wonderful video. I found the contrast of the villagers vs the educated lady came from Hangzhou rather interesting. I am drawn to those down-to-earth villagers. I’d love to live among them.
我是来之浙江中部金华下面一个县里的农村, 很怀念这种集市,小时候比这个热闹多了,都是自己家里种的东西,拿到集市来卖。现在回去很多老房子都没有了。
假如能回到过去,过几天那该有多好。
Love your curiosity and joy, Katherine. Please keep sharing it...
Loved this sublime visual tapestry, thanks.
Chinese people are really sincere, they will always smile at you and will not make you feel strange.
Catherine, many thanks for your hard work! Greetings from Shanghai!
I am surprised Katherine is not annoyed every time someone asks for a picture! I am sure it is understandable as many of them have never seen any foreigners in their lives. I like how she explains it is mutual benefit! lol..
The people seem to be so hard working, and everywhere people seem to plant stuff!!!
浙江富陽有個龍門村 是歷史上有名的富春孫氏的故鄉 以三國的孫堅 孫權而聞名於世
friendly happy people all around. such good vibes. great job.
Such a peaceful village. Thx for sharing.
Look forward to a video about your everyday life in your new home. 😀
