In this episode of TFBTV, James Reeves is at the S&W booth to see Smith & Wesson's new 5.7mm pistol. The M&P5.7 is a great new addition to the lineup of new 5.7 pistols coming to the market and is loaded with features. According to the press release from S&W:
"Smith & Wesson Brands, Inc., a leader in firearm manufacturing and design, is proud to announce the new full-size M&P®5.7 pistol with a 22-round capacity. In an effort to enhance the performance of the increasingly popular 5.7x28mm round in a polymer handgun platform, Smith & Wesson set out to deliver a new and innovative design that will offer a more reliable, accurate, and consistent shooting experience.
Designed within the M&P5.7 is Smith & Wesson's new gas-operated, locked-breech, rotating Tempo™ Barrel System. Developed to harness the speed of the round, this new 5-inch barrel allows for a quicker extraction once the bullet passes the gas port, creating a more secured fireform effect. This key feature allows for increased precision following the first trigger pull and works to utilize the ballistic advantages of the 5.7x28mm round. “The M&P5.7 is an exciting new pistol from Smith & Wesson that incorporates a gas-operated Tempo™ Barrel System to effectively harness the 5.7x28mm round, creating a lighter recoil for an overall better shooting experience.
Like all Smith & Wesson firearms, the M&P5.7 is proudly made entirely in the USA and is backed by the Smith & Wesson Limited Lifetime Service Policy. Whatever your purpose, the M&P5.7 is versatile, fun, and a must-have,” says Andrew Gore, Product Manager, Handguns. The M&P5.7 is slide cut for optics to accommodate your preferred micro red dots, has a Picatinny-style rail for added accessories, and includes a 1/2x28 threaded muzzle with thread protector to allow for suppressed shooting capabilities. Its single-action flat-face trigger maintains a crisp break and is designed to allow for consistent finger placement that translates to more accurate and repeatable shooting. This pistol boasts a 22-round capacity and ships with two magazines.
MSRP is $699.00"
FN is getting their butts handed to them with all these sub $1000 5.7 pistols.
After how many years of monopoly?
Good.
Absoulutely can't stand the FN 5.7 so this is a seller all day
No point in buying an FN, all their pistols are overpriced but the new five seven is the worst offender. $1400 for a pistol with a magazine disconnect? No thanks FN
@@S1deshowRob I don't even think the Ruger 5.7 has a magazine disconnect if I remember right. And they are notorious for having magazine disconnects in the past

Yes yeah totally asking questions he already knew the answers to
This seems like the best 5.7 so far. Hope it proves itself over time.
@@xtreme4stringbass In that video, the slide was locked back with a loaded mag, he hit the release, and the gun didn't load a round nor did the slide go forward, just a "click". Looked like a malfunction to me and he had to pull the slide back to load the round. Maybe it was a fluke, but it happened. Happens at 10:05 of the video.
Yall like paying over a bucl a round for that crap?
So stupid.
Hell no! Probably top 3 but NOT the best
@@TruthGotGunz why not the best? It has by far the most sophisticated action.
Wonder if it blows out the shoulder on brass less
James should be excited. With all the competition in this space coming fast and hard, the Glock 5.7 that many Glock fanboys have been craving is just 15 years of begging and a large government tender away from becoming a reality! 🤣
Does 5.7 fit in any of their current frames? We could end up with 5.7 G.A.P.
@@onoes9646 Of course not, it doesn't fit in a frame based around any other caliber.
They're making a joke about the .45 G.A.P., bruh.
@@andreivaldez2929 I'm aware. Even when Glock gave up on .45 CRAP they still couldn't make a proper frame for .45 or 10mm, so why should I believe 5.7 would be any different?
@@andreivaldez2929 Eh, a little from column A, a little from column B.
And I just found out Fiocci is making two lines of 5.7x28.

@@GregR2023that is such good news.

Fiocci is regularly cheaper then Federal, who I have currently seen 40 dollars a box for.
Just to see 30 dollars a box is better for me.
@@Heisenbrick I'd absolutely buy this gun in a heartbeat for concealed carry. Sadly my state just passed a mag ban so I can't make full use of all that extra capacity until the lawsuits work through the system.
When James knows more about the firearm than the firearm rep.
lol that guy was as nervous as a crackhead during a drug test. I'm sure he knew all the info but froze in front of the camera like a lot of folks. James did a great job refreshing his memory.
We need better 5.7 ammo and larger amounts. The higher velocity stuff isn't available yet they keep releasing 5.7 guns. We need more 27gr 5.7x28 going 2500fps
The mic toss at the end had me dying 🤣
His arms were tired from carrying this interview.
Looks like an awesome gun! I've seen Honest Outlaw's reveiw on it and am excited for it to start selling
@No Body you mean James Reeves?
M&p 2.0 compact is my edc. Just picked up the PSA rock 5.7 just cuz. Sub $500 w/optic cut. Put a few hundred rounds through it and it's pretty awesome so far. Didn't know the M&P 5.7 was coming out or I probably would have waited for it. Awesome to see the 5.7 pistols gaining some traction, though.

Same. I'm more curious to see if anyone other than Ruger or Kel-Tec are coming out with PCCs in 5.7 (no offense, just want variety). It's nice seeing actual new products coming to the market other than Glock clones or Glock-mag ARs.
PSA is the best for the money. Really simple and reliable gun. I paid 600 bucks for mine, came with an optic cut, holosun optic, supressor height sights and a threaded barrel.

James looks like a proud dad with his much smaller son.
James wear's lifts like Tom Cruise

How can you not be proud
Weird to see someone smaller than James.
Imagine if Hop had conducted this interview. The S&W rep would come up to his waist.
I am very happy to see 5.7 slowly gaining popularity, I hope p320 5.7 is next and some cool PDW's from anybody. Also the slide is pretty long already, I'd prefer to have a shorter non threaded barrel as well, or removable threaded extension like on some 22 pistols if it is possible with 5.7.
The reason all the 5.7 pistols have the long barrels is because it's that semi rifle/ pistol round that needs that length to be useful and burn all the gunpowder. You get shorter and you start getting into .22 mag ballistics.
@@50StichesSteel I do understand that. I am just talking about threaded barrel which adds up even more length. I have said almost the same thing you did under a comment where the guy wanted a micro compact lol.
Agreed it's almost gun fad now for everything to come threaded which makes concealed carry that much harder. I'd wager they will come out with a non threaded version soon. This gun with a slightly smaller grip, something like a 18 round magazine or even a 16 round magazine would make for an awesome carry option.
I've always wondered if a 5.7 MP7 would be possible.
I was gonna post the same thing, but since you already did... I have the standard FN 5.7, which I plan to stick a threaded barrel and supressor on eventually. But I'm glad to see S&W following Ruger's footsteps of adding a 5.7 offering to their lineup. The standard threaded barrel definitely one-ups the Ruger and FN models.
I just bought a S&W 5.7. I also bought a holster for it from Muddy River Holsters. I installed a Cat Red Dot. Muddy River made my holster so it would accommodate the Red Dot. I am very pleased with their work and quick service. I got my holster in less than a week. Ordered on Sunday and got it on Friday.
So correct me if I’m wrong. Was James the Smith & Wesson sales rep ?? We are blessed to have a James out there providing all of us insights and great videos. Keep it up James !!!
Cool addition to the M&P lineup. Almost as cool as James’ youth sized t-shirt

With a MSRP of $699, which means it'll most likely be cheaper than that, that will deal a blow to the Ruger 5.7 as well as FN's 5.7. Now we just need more ammunition manufacturers to pick up the production of the 5.7 caliber.

That is awesome, but outside of that I always want somebody to make a 5.7 compact or micro compact pistol, that would be badass
That’s a terrible idea. 5.7 is dependent on velocity. The full size handguns are already pushing it. I wouldn’t want to use this in something smaller yet
One of the main advantages of this caliber is velocity, I am afraid 3.6-4" barrel might be too short.
So a M&P 5.7 Shield, if you will?
I'm with you, but the other responses here are probably right if memory serves. If they could figure it out- would be an instant buy.
Apparently psa has hinted their rock with 20 round grip and 4.4 barrel, i guess this is the shortest you can go.
This looks sweet.....5.7 doesn't have alot of recoil to begin with, but I'm sure it's going to be solid because it's an M&P
I'm betting the delayed action is for a 30sc chambering later.
@mericaeagle9319 oooo that would be awesome! I've been waiting for that in a full size m&p😛
Ambi controls are a big +. The M&P by style is a good hook. 5.7mm? 🤔 ....
I'd love for S&W to make pistols with a stainless finish again. Which shouldn't be too hard since these are all stainless under the black finish
Yeah cerakote is nice a durable and all that but I love a blued finish

Wow, 700 coin is less than I see the Ruger-57 being sold street price here. Not bad, Smith.
👆Thanks for Watching::: You have been selected Hit the contact above to claim!
I wonder if S&W went with a rotating barrel to solve the timing issue that the FN five seven and i assume the ruger 57 suffer from. Thats why the 5.7x28 brass requires the polymer coating to prevent the case from getting stuck in the chamber from trying to extract while pressures were still high and making reloading 5.7x28 either not reloadable or a pain in the ass to reload

Real cop out answers about the color. How hard is it to just man up and say "Teal-ish Blue"
_We the People_ can thank Palmetto State Armory for putting the industry on notice with their PSA Rock 5.7 pistol.
Meaning if PSA did not continue their pursuit and push of the 5.7 cartridge, then we would never have the options we currently see on the market. It [5.7x28mm] has always been a fringe caliber with a small but loyal gathering of devotees - until now.
Well done PSA _and_ Smith & Wesson!
Stay classy my friends.
You give PSA too much credit. Ruger 57 was the first real competition to the FN 5-7.
@@CheeseDanish85 The Ruger 57 had a poor reception.
The PSA 5.7 Rock gave the industry a necessary push to keep this cartridge alive. Especially now that PSA has brought 5.7 ammo production in-house.

got it to the range for the first time, and both magazines malfunctioned. I loaded several rounds of ammo normally, and then about half way full, the magazine spring got stuck, meaning it stopped providing upward tension on the next several rounds that were loaded, and they were just sitting in the magazine loose. the gun failed to load a round and when removing the magazine from the pistol several of the loose rounds just fell out of the magazine.
I've been shooting for a long time, and have owned more than my fair share of handguns. nothing like this has ever happened before, and IMHO is simply unacceptable from a company as well known as S&W.
