@@Creatification I've been checking around, there is midi2lr for Lightroom, gimp appears to have a midi convertor built in too, there's a program for specific midi controllers for davinci too, but can't find one for nanokontrol and the other programs seem a bit too complicated.
Great glad it helped - not sure on your question re mapping multiple tracks to one fader - possibly if you create a ‘bus’ in resolve that covers multiple tracks and then use the controller to operate that bus - Have not tried it myself but this might be a way forward - let me know how you get on
@@Creatification I was interested to see the way you have labelled your controller: curiously, my track selection increments by 4 tracks, so 1 becomes 5, 2 becomes 6 and so on, giving me only 12 available tracks.
sorry - just saw this - you can use the 'track navigation buttons' to move the tracks on the controller to the next 8 tracks on the screen (max of 16 I think) this way you can get all 16 tracks controllable from the unit
Hi - yes there are lots of different controllers you can use - the Black Magic Controller for Farlight is pretty epic (so is the price tho)! Thanks for the comment!
Great video. Didn't know that was possible and ordered that device. Question: what happens if you make a mistake during the mix and you wanna go again but not from the very beginning. You look for a new in-point and you need to know the currently volume, as the faders are not motorized. How do you do it?
Yes - you have to pick an in point - and as you say the sliders do not pick up from where you left off you need to estimate the start point. Often you need to ‘tweak’ the restart point in the edit after (manually smooth the transition) to clean it up - it’s a lot faster than doing it all manually tho.
I already have this on my desk for controlling audio in voicemeeter. I am using only four of the faders and none of the knobs. I wonder if I can use the remaining controls for Resolve. Apart from using it as a midi controller in Fairlight - can you take midi inputs like this to the color page as well? Would be grade to manipulate multiple variables at the same time.
Hi - Great questions... Voicemeter - I'm pretty sure that the controller has to be 'bound' to one app - pretty sure voicemeter will take the whole thing and not enable resolve to control - you may need two controllers for this action Color Page - Yes I have seen others do this (not with this controller) - and there are devices that are specifically made for this that use mini as the control language - I have not tried it with this controller - but - you may be able to do it using the 'mapping' software that comes with the mixer. Let me know if you have a go and get any results! As this would be epic!
Could I use my PreSonus Atom for regular cutting/editing in Resolve? (Or for anything else in Resolve?) Would be nice to really get in there and customize the knobs for scrubbing and zooming, etc.)
That would be great - I’ve not tried it - but resolve is open to most midi inputs and if the Atom comes with software to ‘bind’ controls to specific midi commands you may be able to do it.
Hi great video, but I have some problem with DV 17 and still in version 18, after using the NanoKontrol2 I can't save the projects, thats it, if I use it, I can't save the project with the keys or menu option, do you have any idea why this is happened? Thanks
Ok - just checked my setup - I can save and load in both versions after recording automation. Can you share a little more on what is happening for you? Bit I can confirm it does work fine on both versions on my setup.
@@Creatification Just this, I setup the Korg Nano as you described and now if I use the faders I just cant save, using menu or hotkeys. When you try DR just don't do nothing. If I try to close The program its ask to save, if I hit save it dont close and only will close if I choose to not save. Its a really stranger beahvior
Hi, question. I've the Korg Nanokontrol but not the 2 version. I've what I presume to be the old version. Does that mean it's still gonna work the same? Because all videos about the topic are about the nanokontrol2.
Trying to get my Axiom 49 controller to work with Davinci 16. the software sees the keyboard, but It's not making contact yet. I'm betting they don't have a script written for it, in which case, how do I map MIDI controls, and where in Davinci can I see a MIDI signal so I can determine connectivity?
Hi Moto - had a quick look into your issue this AM - does it appear in the audio console in settings? If not I’m not sure what to suggest - Resolve does not appear to have anything that visually shows it capturing the midi signal like other apps. Some controllers have a piece of software that allows for mapping. Not sure about the Axiom 49 - sorry I can’t be more helpful. Let me know if you make any progress.
Great video! Was helpful in getting the bit bigger nanoKONTROL Studio going, an extra trick to make it work, and could be applicable here is to use Kong’s Kong Kontrol Editor to set the mode to Pro Tools, same as holding the Play and Set buttons at the same time - helps it connect easily as a Bluetooth device as the setting stays persistent.
How does one assign tracks to the Korg’s faders, or does it just default to the first 8 tracks in Fairlight? Also, (if you’ve any experience with it) how does this compare to Novation Launch Control XL?
Sorry don’t have any experience with the Novation - but assume it might show up in the device list the same as the Korg - it will assign the first 8 and you can use the track left and right buttons to move up or down if you have more tracks - The comment from J Walking May also be helpful - using the Korg app to make different assignments to the default. Good luck!
I wish it could be used by assigning the knobs and fader to whatever we want in the Colour grading tab and have the transport control work in the other tabs (not just in fairlight) in edit and also have the go to next or previous marker working.
Yes there are - I only have a few on this channel - but there are lots out there - and resolve is the industry choice for Color grading (has been for years) Lord of the rings both the original and the new 4k re-release were all done using resolve 😊 - this software is amazing - does the whole workflow!
Hi, great video! Just what i was looking for:D Thanks! Just started with Resolve and got the idea to use my nanokontrol2 and nanopad2, but I've got a question. Do i need to set up drivers? Or will it work immediately?
Hi! Thanks - sorry for the late reply - there were no drivers required for my PC - it should work just by plugging it in and following the steps I took. Good luck with Resolve it’s a great bit of software!
@@Creatification No probs! I tried it with drivers installed, but that didn't work. i then removed the drivers and it worked 👍One question, if you turn the pan knobs all the way left and right, do they still keep working? Ive got the issue that when i turn beyond a certain point they pop tot the other side and i need to reset them manually in the fairlight pan module.
Glad you got it working - I have seen this behaviour - it seemed to go away once I had set it all up and then restarted the app/pc let me know how you get on. I’ll see if I can recreate the issue here when I’m next using it.
It may work - but I don’t know - often midi controllers come with an ‘app’ you can use to make assignments/change the data they send depending on the software - worth checking ahead of purchasing - and if you buy on Amazon you can always send the controller back (worst case)
How about the Nanokontrol Studio? Does it also work with Resolve? Any hints?
Great video! Do you have to do the startup procedure every time you start Davinci, or just the first time?
Thank you very much friend, the tutorial helped me, I'm already using the nanoKontrol2 in my Davinchi
So glad!!!
Can you also use the dials for colour correction?
Hi! Why did you stop posting? I love viewing your videos!
Nice useful videos, can we use the dials for color correction or assign any of the buttons to non midi functions?
I don’t think so unfortunately- but feel free to try. Would be interested to know of you have any success doing this.

Fantastic info. Just picked one up. Is there a way to map one fader row to more than one audio channel and switch between them with a hotkey?

I do not see these options. I have the free version of davinci resolve. Is this facility only on the pro version?
It’s possible - I don’t have the free version to compare - sorry

Would any Midi controller work in this case (i.e. Behringer X Touch Mini) and is the midi controller only functional in the Fairlight tab?
