Naoki Yoshida, the FFXVI director, is one of the most well-liked and respected game directors out there, with him being very open on communicating with players in a clear-cut manner, fixing the broken launch of FFXIV, and his incredible planning skills. He's also openly stated that he doesn't want to put NFT's into his game since nobody has figured out how to actually make them "fun". Also since he's in charge of Creative Business Division 3, the executives generally tend to leave him alone because his division makes the most money and he knows what he's doing (also he's got 1 vote on the board). He even stated that he'd even fight the CEO if it meant he could keep working on FFXIV. What I'm getting at is it's super unlikely there's nft's in FFXVI

I remember an interview from a higher up at Capcom responding to the lower sales of RE7 saying that they understand that good games lead to more sales for the next and worse games lead to worse sales for the next, and basically saying that is informing their current business model. We seem to be out of the dark age of them panicking over nothing and trying desperately to chase all the trends. I'm sure they'll make more mistakes but seeing how they've been turning around the past while now, it seems like one of the few companies still run by actual human beings who care about making cool stuff. I even remember some of the devs for DMCV reacting to a speedrun for some RUclips channel, and even though that's all they really had to do, they still couldn't stop from gushing about different things in the game with this genuine light in their eyes.

If SF6 and the Capcom Fighting Collection are both great, I'd say that Capcom would officially earn their CapGod status back. It seems like they know how important fan feedback is and how vital it is to make a game the right way from the very beginning. Hopefully this means that Capcom is looking at its mistakes and are truly learning from them now.
As a Final Fantasy fan since 6 I’m looking forward to 16. I love playing the Devil May Cry series so having DMC5s battle director for FF16 is a fresh take for this series. Also looking forward to Street Fighter 6. As soon as I saw the hub world I was thinking updated World Tour mode from back in Street Fighter Alpha 3.
As a big FF fan I'm not sick of the action combat. XVI's looks especially cool, can't wait. I can get my turn based fix elsewhere (Pokemon and SMT/Persona are my go to's for that)
Yeah, totally agree. I feel like Matt was talking about it like it was a gimmick rather than a choice they made for the whole series going forward. Turned based combat, while I stillfind it personally fun, isn't as eye catching or fun to most people. If you want to have a successful turn based game now, you either need a catching mechanic (like Pokemon and Persona), be super challenging (like SMT games) or it has to ooze with style. People aren't interested in turn based games anymore and I'm personally glad FF transitioned into a full fledged action series. 13s turned based combat felt like it hurt it a lot more than if it were a straight action game. It would be easier to excuse the level design, because at least the combat would have been fun.
@@riemaennchen definitely, since it has that pedigree. I'm hoping there's some good/game breaking customization though. As much as I love how action rpgs have a skill based element, I still want a way for my numbers to be way bigger than the enemies due to specific character builds.

As a very old school FF fan, been playing since the 1st one came out on the NES. I've moved away from the FF series since the move towards action vs turn based. It doesn't really bother me however, things change with time. Having series go on as long as FF has there is going to be advances, changes and shifts in concepts. 12 was the last one I bought outside of dabbling briefly into 14. I'm still glad FF has its fans and is still around, that's still cool to think about that a non-1st party game series has been around that long and is still gaining new fans.
With regard to VR, first person stuff has definitely come a long way. The VR version of Resident Evil 4 is as fully featured as the console versions, and that’s on the Quest 2. That and the first chapter of TWD: Saints & Sinners are two of the first big VR titles that really feel like more than tech demos, so RE Village and the TWD sequel coming to PSVR2 is pretty exciting (ironically, the first Saints & Sinners WAS set in New Orleans). That first TWD was from Skydance Interactive, so it’s good to see they’re on the sequel, too.
I wish one of the updates was "Effective immediately, we're stepping up manufacturing to make PS5's widely available.". I have a friend who has one, but I've never managed to find one available for purchase. I'm just way too slow, as I'm used to just being able to purchase a product that I want without having to be on a bunch of lists or having to fight other people (and bots) for a spot in line the second stocks are replenished.

I know it’s an insane train of thought, but seeing how smooth the trick animations for Rollerdrome looked (the shooting-while-rollerskating trailer from Private Division that had an extremely simplistic, Superhot-esque art style), I immediately recalled the SSX series on PS2 (the PS3 “reboot” game that tried to be realistic and trampled on my happiness does not exist, nope). The arcade-style insane tricks that are physically impossible to perform, yet look so smooth that your brain’s like, “yo, that looks so sick!!” I miss early-2000s EA Canada, ok? They were the devs of basically all the EA Sports BIG bangers (SSX + Skate). They were my childhood!😭 EA Vancouver just isn’t the same to me… and I know it’s because a lot of the dev team left leading up to and around the name change in 2010. Now that I think about it, that’s also when EA began to take a turn for the worse… and snowballed directly into Hell. Huh. The SSX games still look and sound amazing on an LCD TV. I mean, come on; when they got DMC’s “Tricky” on the OST for Tricky, and Yellowcard’s “Way Away” on the OST for 3, they’re gonna be good games forever! My music tastes of electro and alt+pop-punk were fostered by these games. I hope that I’m not blinded by nostalgic memories of past games in the general “do crazy tricks and shit” style, and that Rollerdrome is gonna be a smooth-ass experience like the SSX and Skate series were in the early-2000s. For a potential consumer-base, you got nostalgic arcade-style trick bitches like me and all the trick fiends that crawled out of the woodworks for the OG Tony Hawk 1 and 2 re-releases (since emu’s are a pain the ass for everyone to set up to play games on). Sure, that potential market isn’t entirely roller-skating fans, but if a game lets me go ham on the tricks, I will have my eyeballs on all of the media surrounding this game. I just hope most of, if not all, the locations/levels/whatever have at least one decently sized half-pipe area because HOLY SHIT DUDE THAT IS MY JAM RIGHT THERE!
Matt, you gotta remember that the PSVR was very low fidelity and cobbled together from existing tech. PSVR 2 will only use a single USB C cable to the front of the PS5 to hook up. And it's got a wider FOV and much higher frame rate. That will help with the sensation of motion sickness.
ff16 with dmc gameplay looks so good for me. loved ff7remake gameplay, if it's not turned based, better be one of the best action games with rpg elements. not like crisis core, pls
Was the first saints and sinners game from the walking dead actually good enough to warrant a sequel? I never heard anything about the game after it released lol
Resident Evil Village is done. No more DLC content outside this VR2 update. It was fun hoping for some new content DLC before they announced REm4ke. If this also marks the end of RE:Verse, then at least there’s some good with the bad.
So I know Sony got out in front of this State of Play by saying they didn't have a ton of first-party stuff. Honestly though, this was a pretty good presentation. Some interesting new stuff woven into some pretty hype trailers for established IPs, here's hoping we'll see more during Game Fest
According to the notes from the Final Fantasy team, the entire game is playable from beginning to end, but they want to take as much time as they can to polish and fine tune it. Which... yeah I'm fine with that. Honestly, I prefer it over an incomplete product (glares at XV)
SF6 looks like a reaction of Capcom at the rise of Street Fighter 3rd Strike. A really urban setting with, which what it seems is some sort of "parry mechanic", combined with a new generation of characters. So they might do a new game with completely new characters. Although if some people from SF3 are back I hope mah boi Q n' friends return.
Street Fighter 6 looks neat but man I really wanted to see Dragon's Dogma 2, As honestly I feel like another Dragon's Dogma game would be alot of fun to see
23:45 at this point we need a "what happened" on FF XIV 1.0 but not for us but for him. But no-one that knows that story would take that on Naoki Yoshida xD
No, played all FF games. I love the direction they're going here. Sometimes turned based doesn't mesh well with a game's lore, aesthetics, and graphics. Might work with older FF games and Persona games which are more "anime-y".
I really want to like SF6 and hoped it was the next installment in the franchise to revive SF into a engaging FG. Sadly I just dont' see it. I don't dig the spray paint effects and now they double down on SFIV's ink blot effect. Luke who is supposed to be the new MC is not interesting. He is basically a new younger ken without any unique character traits. Mechanics and characters models look good though. Maybe its just me but I like to play games with personality and equally characters who are interesting and not just for competition.
Meh sf6 felt like it had more personality than its previous iteration. Especially digging the other characters design in the leaks especially Akuma and Juri
The VR games available on PS4 are really not representative of VR gaming as a whole. What's available on PC would really make you rethink your complexity comment, Matt. Not just VR ports of existing titles, but stuff like Boneworks/Bonelab alone really shows off how deep this stuff gets.
Idk call me crazy but even as a FF OG I feel like having turn based combat with graphics like these would be a waste. I mean I know people love their turn based RPG, but I always looked at it as a crutch for the limited tech at the time, same with tank controls. But with new tech why give us such tedious means to play a game?
Sounds like you have only played smaller vr games. Vr can run any game and playable with vr controls. Problem vr has is instal base, only few AAA GAMES been made for vr but when done its far above any other games.

Actually; we are long overdue for another turn-based mainline FF game.
Excited for this. Hopefully it has a decent amount of characters at launch.
22-24 characters, it seems.
They should make a remake of Resident Evil: Code Veronica. Turn that 8 hours game into a 12 hours and voila.
Can’t wait to hear you guys talk about SF6 on Triple KO next week! 😎🤙
I'll definitely need to to try it somehow before buying it. I really regret purchasing the original PSVR, so you can understand my trepidation.
@@MattMcMuscles yeah me too and I'm a huge Stereo 3D/VR nerd. I still have my 3D TV and everything 😂. And I regret buying it as well.
@@MattMcMuscles Also helps the PSVR2 is OLED which has 1ms response times further decreasing chances of motion sickness
ff16 with dmc gameplay looks so good for me.
loved ff7remake gameplay, if it's not turned based, better be one of the best action games with rpg elements. not like crisis core, pls
Was the first saints and sinners game from the walking dead actually good enough to warrant a sequel? I never heard anything about the game after it released lol
arguably one the best vr games out there
It was fucking amazing, replayed it more than any vr game
In that case I certainly hope this one lives up to the expectations for everyone c:
I don't like the Walking Dead show but I played Saints and Sinners for nine hours straight when I first got it
I had that same reaction when I thought I saw Squall and Rinoa :/
12:05
Reaction to da kitty game is EVERYTHING!!!!
I absolutely cannot wait for the day crymentina critiques the sf6 cast 🤩😍💖
Me too!
Until VR is like some Matrix or Total Recall type shit, it won't be as immersive as it needs to be (for me) to be worth the investment.
This man said CODE Veronica first 😂😂 I forgot that game exist but I’m rooting for you Matt
No PaRappa the Rapper sequel? I am disappoint.
Play Astrobots Rescue Mission. That game isn't held back at all. It's my favorite 3d platformer ever made so far.
I just realized the new street fighter 6 logo has a VI in it
Resident Evil Village is done. No more DLC content outside this VR2 update. It was fun hoping for some new content DLC before they announced REm4ke. If this also marks the end of RE:Verse, then at least there’s some good with the bad.
Street fighter 6 makes me want a new marvel vs Capcom game
Everyone hyped for SF6. Here I am a Darkstalkers fan sobbing in the corner of the room.
I just realized that Walking Dead game has a "Chapter 2" in the title. There was a chapter 1?
So I know Sony got out in front of this State of Play by saying they didn't have a ton of first-party stuff. Honestly though, this was a pretty good presentation. Some interesting new stuff woven into some pretty hype trailers for established IPs, here's hoping we'll see more during Game Fest
According to the notes from the Final Fantasy team, the entire game is playable from beginning to end, but they want to take as much time as they can to polish and fine tune it.
Which... yeah I'm fine with that. Honestly, I prefer it over an incomplete product (glares at XV)
If chun-li looking like that... imma grab me a copy
this is going to be good, this is one of the best announcements on PlayStation
"I clapped! I clapped when I saw the Final Fight stuff!"
- Matt seeing the Street Fighter trailer.
I mean I did too
Can we talk about that absolutely *GORGEOUS* graffiti artstyle SF6 is going for?! *WE IN THA STREETZ NOW, FOO’!*
Master Oogway Ryu for the *WIN!*
I guess it's sort of a return to the SF3 street style mixed with the sf4 art effects. Looks decent overall in motion.
That is super fair to say. I haven't played the vast majority of VR games, so I shouldn't over generalize.
If anything turn base benefits more with sprite animations like Indivisible
Sounds like you have only played smaller vr games.
Vr can run any game and playable with vr controls.
Problem vr has is instal base, only few AAA GAMES been made for vr but when done its far above any other games.
The Callisto Protocol was the only thing for me that was interesting. FF16... we will see next year
Tuesday Dayman, fighter of Wednesday Nightman!
"never be as complex or as deep"
I mean you can play every bit of Morrowind in VR 🤷♂️
Street Fighter 6 has a bit of a Urban Reign vibe (for the other 5 people that actually played it)
this fucking state of play was just this year's whole e3
Am I the only one who finds it hilarious that the PLAYSTATION EVENT had a announcement that the spider man game was coming to PC
Huh? Sony has released several of their games on PC. God of War came out like 4 months ago. Its nothing new.
