So I read Ken’s story basically he got accused of a crime he didn’t commit so he left his family and went into hiding hence his new appearance. Ken’s great and all but my main problem is that he’s no longer voiced by Reuben Langdon.
It’s funny, I instantly knew it was Ken at the start because of the voice, then cut to me finding out it’s a new VA?

It's really nice to see a new fighting game have such big focus on single-player. They really seem to understand how to appeal to all kinds of players (casual & competitive, solo & online, etc.).
I've been saying this for so long. Fighting games are stuck in the 90s Arcades mindset. It's so good to see this focus on content.
This is how you get a filthy casual single player gamer like me to get invested in your online content. Don't take options away, don't railroad all "single player" content into your online systems like every single sports game has, just give me a fun game that i can play on my own at my own pace and eventually I'll find my fighter and join some lobbies
My friends and I are buying it because of this - I know there's stuff I can have fun doing no matter what, so it doesn't feel like a risk buying it. I'm sure a lot of people feel the same way.
Yup the single player content is legit making me considering buying sf6 down the line after release just for that content lol. that part is super appealing to me

As silly as it sounds, seeing the goofy "just have fun" mode gives me more confidence in this game than anything else. It just says we know the core game is gonna be good, let's throw some extra shit in there to make it the complete package.
I still stand by soul calibur 3 being the best one because of how much extra content it had. This makes me want to get street fighter 6 after being ultra disappointed by tekken 7 supposedly having "great single player" (aka input reading bs AI in a story mode where you can't pick characters)
As someone who plays MK and sees those modes, I can fairly safely say that noone is going to actually play it.

I have to admit this is the first fighting game I've been excited about since marvel vs. Capcom 2
Seeing Ken's intro where he kicked the cement/sand bag away from hitting the dude on the construction site, I can't help but feel is like some sort of call back to the intro scene of the 2nd Fatal Fury anime where Terry Bogard does the same thing to save a fellow construction worker (except it was with steel girders).

Terry to a depressed homeless Ken sitting down: "ARE YOU OKAY? HEY CMON CMON! STAND UP!"
Ken: "Who the hell are you?"
Terry: "BUSTER WOLF!"
Might be reaching here, but he also picks up the hardhat off the ground and throws it to the worker, just like Ken and Terry's CvS intro.
if you watched his fire uppercut, it had a downpunch in the end, did he just add the finish to Terry's power dunk?
It's not the only SNK reference, either. There was clearly a Tung Fu Rue create-a-character, as well as (I believe) a Blue Mary. Also a slightly toned-down Akuma, which makes me think he won't be on the roster.

I love that what Capcom is doing with SF6 is exactly what NRS did with MK9 - completely redifing what Street Fighter is by focusing on the hip-hop urban style while also providing a full package with lots of single player content and fun extras (even having their own Test Your Luck mode!). Instead of just copying the NRS story mode like before, they are creating extra content in their own unique way that fits the game. This is exactly what SF6 needed, to be the complete opposite of what SFV was - barebones with no identity and only focusing on esports.

@@mikejonesnoreally SFV did not even had an arcade mode at launch. Sure it has more these days, but it hundreds of miles away from what this SF6 trailer shows. He is talking about MK9 because it was the first one from NRS to help redefine fighting games and bring a new way to tell a story for the genre.
@@binho2224 i missed it because the story based stuff i was playing then was like Blazblue, Injustice and Persona and i also loved MvCU3 in spite of it's lack of story but still how did MK 9 tell it's story? How did it redefine Fighting Games? It still played like Mk right? (i loved how they put minigames in Injustice) What did i miss? o.o
@@mikejonesnoreally its like in Injustice and Injustice 2, but it was the first one to do the story mode that way. Blazblue had a fun Abyss mode tho
Gotta love the community's concern for Ken's well-being as well as their collective sigh of relief when they found out that he just got kicked out of his company and home while having to deal with a terrorist group on his own.
Those young producers are setting a new standard. I love the pacing of the trailer, it's not segmented or corny and needs very few explanation. It has good flow, a ton of personality and lets you discover the world, lore and informations by yourself. Absolutely loved it !
I worry though. It's a lot of different systems, and we see how games with fewer systems can have them be unbelievably broken (take SF5 for example). I wonder if they're trying to do too much or if SF5 brought in enough money for them to give all these different modes justice. I'm not totally optimistic after SF5, but everything they've shown, has looked good, and that's a good start.
@@blackmanwhitesuit SF6 feels like a complete game compare to how SF5 started. That's probably the positive outlook from seeing all these cool stuff they added to the new game. Not it can be in the same league as Tekken and Netherrealms games. Let's hope this turns out well.
@@blackmanwhitesuit Ono was producing SF5 and he had a lot of ideas from old school fighting games, very traditional. The problem with SF5 at launch was the lack of content and issues with netplay. I think SF6 will be fine I don't think there's ''too much'' right now we have as much content as an action adventure game, this is how it's supposed to be but we're so used to habing next to nothing that we're worried the game wot hold up. We're finally treated right and I trust the Capcom team on the content. Now we just have to cross our fingers for good netplay.

I love that they have unique cutscenes with them as your 'Mentor' to showcase their individual talents and strengths as you learn from them. Each one has a plethora of experiences and going to them means you see them at their best.
and gameplay wise i can see it as a way to teach people their moves, and their playstyle, like introducing how grapplers, zoners, and rushdowns work and which characters are which

Watching Max hype gives me life. Also, this is the most excited i've been for a Street Fighter in ages. Absolutely love the style in this one.

Fighting games have the habit of just being "Here are the fighters, here are the systems, that's it there you go that's the game". With no extra fluff or rounding it out with anything else interesting.
Basically what games used to be before the season ticket subscription era.
Have you head of the game that just went free to play called GranBlue Fantasy Versus? True, you only get 12 fighters, but they're *free.* Anyway, it has a *very* complete and really unique (Unless you play GranBlue Fantasy where some of the mechanisms for crafting and weapon power ups are obviously taken from.) 1 player adventure mode. You might enjoy it! :D

@@binho2224 Yes. You only get like 1/2 of the total roster but that's more than it had at Beta or Launch and so far they're all fun. It's got some interesting mechanisms as well such as cool downs for moves and extra inputs making moves more effective. The art is almost unbelievably good but it *does* come from a former Final Fantasy Designer. Made by Arksys. :D

According to what's been revealed Ken's not homeless or divorced his SF6 bio reveals that a villainous rival with a lot of political/financial pull managed to frame/accuse him of a crime he didn't commit so Ken went on the run and is now in hiding to keep Eliza, and Mel safe from whoever framed him.
For the World Tour Master/Mentor Cutscene with him I hope this is brought up like for example my female CaC states if he brings it up. "I don't care about that I just want to learn from you so I can gain the strength to protect myself, my loved ones and friends from those who threaten them."
Even as someone with little to no experience with street fighter I can't help getting a bit hyped with his "kid set loose in the giant toy store" levels of excitement.
As a person in my 20s, I feel disappointed that I don't have this inner child react.

I love it when competitive games have casual game modes and goofy bonus content, since it proves that the developers are dedicated to giving their software the level of quality it deserves for players of all kinds. Things like revived retro mini-games, clever references, and endearing little details in the backgrounds are such a nice touch, which should always be acknowledged and appreciated. So to hear an influential figure from the competitive scene praise these types of designs and endorse their inclusion is very gratifying. Thanks Max, I really respect that.

I wish Woolie had this take - he seems to be against SF6 ever since the reveal of the casual control scheme. One would think that more people playing the game would be a good thing...
@@ShermTank7272 i totally agree with you and simply don't understand that take from other people, like how does other less skilled people being able to try and enjoy an online game affect you in any way other than being salty you lost to one of them? And if people like Woolie are as good as they think they are, they'll rank out of where 99% of modern control players will probably end up anyway since modern control players probably aren't going to dive into deeper mechanics/strategies, so what's the problem?
this is what i wanted for a street fighter in years! Big singleplayer content to enjoy, casual matches local with friends, Fun game modes online and local and an incredible interactive online space. They finally put some style and attention to detail into everything.

I don't remember the last time I was genuinely excited for a Street Fighter game. I remember back in the day waiting in line at toys R us just to get a copy of each SF game back in the SNES and Genesis days. The good old days.
Max hype for SF6 is making me feel the hype and excitement that I've been missing in my life.
I love Street Fighter and I hope SF6 is the game that'll grow the fanbase and FGC in general.
At this point, I’m pretty sure the roster has been lacking in the “new generation” characters like Sakura and Sean because of this Masters system. Everyone in the base roster are people who are experienced enough as fighters that it would be justified in them teaching the player their moves. Don’t ask me what would convince someone like Juri to take up a protege, though.

Well that would mean most of the OG characters would be in the base game to be masters and the younger ones would be added as DLC.
I hope the new blank character thing isn't really that crucial to the story and its entirely separate to whatever the plot of SF6.

No one in the entire fighting scene can match Max’s hype and energy for fighting games. It’s so infectious.

I like Max and I respect his opinions a lot when it comes to fighting games, but I feel like his reactions have been a little over the top for the past year or so. Feels a little inauthentic at times. Contrast this to Aris reacting to the Tekken 8 trailer, that guy's a seasoned Tekken vet and he was completely honest with his take on it.

Street Fighter 6 looks like it will be a full 60/70$ premium AAA game experience. Similar to MK games, with all the content and everything, not JUST an online fighting game. This game looks GEM-PACKED with content and variety for both single player and multiplayer modes! And we haven't even seen everything SF6 has! This game should also be a great starting point for beginners and a great experience for casuals, as they make their way up.

I was never a big SF fan, but this makes me want to play it and get good at it.
The fact that CAPCOM's giving so much content to a game like Street Fighter 6, somewhat bringing back World Tour mode from Alpha 3 but you're playing as your created fighter instead, learning new moves from mentors akin to Dragonball Xenoverse, Getting to trying out sick new moves from veteran fighters, Battle Hub possibly being a homespot for SF players, actually playing classic SF series in-game, and new additions of minigames like Extreme (Which actually reminded me of Deathmatch from World Heroes) and the returning vehicular devastation called Scrap Heap all make me ever more glad to have played through the main Street Fighter series to get this far!
The moment I saw Ken in this trailer, I was like "I got to see Maximilian Dood's reaction!"

Seeing Ken's design in motion is AWESOME, he looks great! As sick as the coat is I do hope there is a costume without it. I kind of love Blanka's new design and that he uses Blanka-chan dolls though lol Edit: Plus Ken's SF6 back story is crazy awesome. "Accusations of orchestrating a criminal plot have forced Ken to abandon his family and business and go into hiding."

Good news, they've already shown off classic costumes for Ryu, Chun-Li and Guile, so Ken's sure to have one too!

You know, an issue I've had with Fighting Game story modes is how they all felt like the same bland "Fight a character, cutscene, fight a character, cutscene, cutscene, fight another character, cutscene, etc." I've always preferred the way Smash Bros and the PS2 Mortal Kombats did their story modes, making them feel like actual game modes, thus, making the story ultimately better and I'm so glad Street Fighter 6 is doing that. I know development time would be an issue but I hope this becomes a standard for fighting games.
You know this may be a way to finally fix the issue of fighting games being too hard to learn.
A fun single player mode where you can mix different moves therefore forcing to think about how each move and fighting style works may be the way to make it easy to learn for new players
Oh, that's 100% what it is, that plus the simplified controls. Honestly even with those, letting people just wrap a their heads around the basic gameplay of fighters in an environment where it's fun to screw around is huge. Want to play with someone who barely plays these games and know it'd be miserable for them? Wacky bullshit to the rescue. It's why Smash turned into a gigantic thing despite having no competitive support, so many people grew up with it that they wanted to keep playing and get more serious. It's what fighters have been missing for a looong time outside of NRS.
I don't think fighting games are hard to learn, what's hard is getting actually good
And even then, people get the wrong idea. You don't need to be Daigo to have fun.
I play a bunch and don't even bother doing combos. What matters is having an appealing,
solid game with a lot of different things to do that are built on top of the basic fighting
We haven't actually seen any example of mixed movesets yet, to my knowledge. Hopefully we get a mix and match going on, but I think that's too early to call.

@@RadikAlice It's easy to say that but a lot of casuals really have no clue how fighting games work. I tried teaching one of my friends how to play and I had to explain to them for like 30 minutes what a "cancel" is. They kept thinking it would cancel their attack, as opposed to it leading into a new one.
26:00 Ken's Shippu Jinrai always had a lightning bolt as part of its effects because Shippu Jinrai means "Strong Gale Swift Thunder", the lightning effect is the Thunder and the spinning kicks themselves are the Gale.

They look like they're having so much fun developing this game and I'm living for it. I'll fight online of course, but it's VERY nice to have fun single player content to look forward to. More reasons to play, more reasons to keep playing and get better. I love it!

Please take the time to thank the new guys at Capcom for this SENSORY OVERLOAD of an update. Im reminded it wasn't even a decade ago where we were given little to no info on updates and games packed to the brim with on disk DLCs. This is beyond awesom!
I like what Max said at the end; games, first and foremost, should be fun. This is not limited to fighting games amd developers should really take a hard look in this age of loot boxes and microtransactions and NFTs. A game should never feel like a job or obligation.

i think they are just looking at what has been successful and worked for them before while still adding additional stuff to play with ideas! (which is all they were really doing with MvC2 and CVSNK2EO.) By MvC3U they had added the Heroes and Heralds mode, It's very weird to say this but it's as if they had no idea why we loved CAPCOM games so much! This gives me *so* much confidence in CAPCOM because that *was* the X-Factor. You could tell the people making this stuff were having a *blast!* Honest, i just wanna' send em' a Pizza and some Scooby Snacks and say Shine On Crazy CAPCOM! i hope the insanity continues! i hope that comedian from MvC2 kicks in Dizney's door douses everybody with a giant rubber chicken/squirt gun and screams "A billion bucks for anything that wears a cape losers!" xD

Seeing happy/excited Max is honestly the best. I’m very detached from fighting games in general. Last game I really placed was MVC2 way back when, but seeing this man screaming in glee when it comes to any reveal, it’s wonderful. I love it.

Yeah, Eliza divorced him after he lost the last Street Fighter tournament and Ryu married Eliza, making Ryu Mel's step father, causing Ken to descend into a downward spiral that led to him joining M.Bison's organization. Sad.

Wow. Of all those reveals, I think Blanka is the best. I really like his design and model. I hope they do his character justice rather than making his presence a third-tier punchline. E.Honda's forward walk looks awesome, too. This is the most I've liked how these characters have looked since SF2:TC/SF3. Amazing job.
Will you seriously be able to go around the city in a beat'em-up mode a' la Final Fight? That would be a massive cherry on top. What a complete rethink of the industry's premiere fighting game. Just on what they're showing here, this game slaughters SF VI and V for content.
This has the potential to become the greatest fighter of all time. Of all time. Hands down. The eSports scene is about to be set on FIRE.
Honestly, this might be my favorite fighting game trailer in a VERY long time, I'm not even that big a fan of Street Fighter these days, I haven't really liked the art direction, the story, the new characters or even the new mechanics in the last 15 years, but what they showed here is very enticing, I haven't been interested in buying a Street Fighter game that much since BEFORE vanilla SF4, which is saying a lot.
SF is one of my least favorite fighting games. The last I enjoyed was Alpha 3, but this is on another level. I'm buying for the content alone. This new World Tour mode is what I've being asking for so long.

@@binho2224 Ah, Alpha 3, the perfect Street Fighter, ironically enough, the game I was talking about that preceded vanilla SF4 was Alpha Anthology, which to this day is my absolute favorite SF release.
This is the most excited I have ever been for a street fighter game. I am so looking foward to Street Fighter 6!

Life is so boring and slow and poor sometimes, but seeing Max go nuts for his videogame version a.k.a. Ken brought me back today. This was incredible, even though I can never improve playing fighting games, I can't wait to get online in SF6 and see this in action.

Sf is not my favorite fighter, but this game man, this so much content is amazing!!! I was never hyped for a SF game neither, this is the first time. It seems they learned from the SF 5 terrible launch and lack of content.

Maxs reaction to Ken is funny and all but something about him starting to scream like some wild animal uncontrollably as the closed beta gets announced is funnier to me.
Maybe I haven’t seen enough of his excited reactions but I have never seen him scream so high pitched like that and it’s amusing.

Looking back at this this MIGHT be the most Hype introduction to a fighting game since SF2 this is truly an incredible piece of work this game and the trailer!

Yes, THIS is what I've been waiting for.
I've been saying this the moment I saw the art for VI Ken. Its not Depressed Dad Ken, its GAROU Ken, he looked surprisingly close to Garou Terry and Im so glad they seem to be going down that route, plus expanding his moveset and going ham.
The two are practically kindred spirits, given that we know Garou 2 is a thing that is coming, we might see them straight reference this with Terry too
His level 3 is even a power dunk.
My head canon is ken was looking at a picture of garou Terry and was like “Man I wish I looked like that!” He then proceeds to go to an old navy and buys similar clothes
