Worldwide Darts His wife makes him bycicle. He desperately wants to stop biking at all costs, he knows how stupid it makes him look. He'd be in his mom's basement without youtube fans. My business can buy and sell his ass ten times over , so, no, dont drop the jealous line. I just dont respect those who act above the people that made them successful.
lets go play in traffic! Specifically on a well known road were people race around at high speed. Let's get as low as possible to not be seen and just sit there waiting. California people...
I love how you give your honest opinion on the cars that companies give you to test. Too many channels out there give praise to any car that comes in their door. You could have easily said that the Dinan M4 was crazy fast and awesome in every way and super fun and blah blah, but you gave the people who can actually afford one of these a real representation of what its like to own one and drive it.
I have the F80 M3 mostly stock (other than some cosmetic parts) and I absolutely love it! These cars have a lot of sound deadening so rolling down the window does a lot for the sound. Especially in sport plus you can really hear those turbos spool. It is true that the f80 is about the same size as the old 39 m5 and 2 series is the new e46 in size. This car is a perfect DD for me, lots of space but not too big like the f10 m5, good mpg, great engine (the s55 made car and drivers top 10 engines for 2015) looks great, handles great, FAST, the manual transmission is a lot of fun, comfy, great LSD as well, and they designed it very well for the track out of the box as well with all the oil cooling it has.
I'm loving these one-takes, especially of the owner's cars. I realize monetizing on RUclips doesn't pay very well when compared to other platforms and strategies, but I really do miss the days when Matt, Zack, Tom, and Thad shot beautiful looking films for this RUclips channel. I understand all of that stuff is on /Drive and NBC now, but somehow doing a video like this on a 530hp Dinan M4 just doesn't seem to do it justice. Regardless, I'm a big fan of your work Matt and for the most part am enjoying these one-takes!
I just watched the ATS-V review you did through Malibu. That review was awesome. The Caddy sounds GREAT. It sounds years ahead the m4. Grunt similar to a v8. You were right about this Dinan m4. The speed does not translate to the sound. No direct correlation with the engine tone and the speed. Pulls hard, but the audio soundtrack is just no there. Much more civilized than the ATS-V and as a result, some may not view this as "fun" as the Caddy. Love the videos. Keep them coming!
I know with the N54 engines you could get a lot more turbo/induction sound by installing a dual cone filter kit. The factory airbox flows great for stock power but it takes out so much sound too...
I asked him on his last video. He told me he has one lined up in the schedule. I have an 04's SMG in silver grey that I may enter into the waiting list.
No it isn't Rafi. I hope you've driven an ///M with SMG before you say that, because it's an amazing transmission. Lightning fast shifts, launch control, and paddles always make you feel like a racing driver!
yer watch is on upside own Matt. BTW, I am really enjoying your one-takes, and more than ha initially expected. Maybe it's because I'm getting old but being surprised to the upside is an increasingly rare phenomenon, and appreciated all the more for it. Keep it up, the both of ya.
Matt, I've watched your videos for a long time now. For my petrolhead youtube fix, it's just you and Chris Harris. I'd love to request that you get your hands a PURE turbo upgrade f80m3 and take it out on the roads and review one. Shouldn't be too hard to do. Thanks so much, keep doing what you do!
I recently drove a E92 M3 with a G-Power supercharger kit mounted producing around 600 hp and I can definitely understand Matt's point regarding the sound. I'm pretty sure that a stock M4 would have smacked the G-Power M3 with ease (especially with the M3 beeing equiped with a manual transmission) but the sound from the V8 is just from a different galaxy, it even had a Akrapovic exhaust system on it and wheelspin in gear 1,2 and 3. I'm pretty sure it's way more fun to hoon around in the M3 than in an M4 even with a tuning kit on it.
This thing seemed to really fly, like real freakin quick, don't always get that from your vids, probably the road you were on though. Thumbs up to you Matt, always look look forward to TST uploads.
Why use the grassy side of the road, when you can just stretch in the middle of the road where cars are speeding by?! That's what I call an intense workout!
My opinion for the perfect new M4 is base model, Kw V3's, Eisenmann race Exhaust, aftermarket wider wheels, Turner Motorsports tune, all wraped together in a 6 speed stick, walah.
got the 428 msport auto (due to constant city traffic). nothing like an M of course but for the money, it's worth it. comfort mode is perfect as a daily driver. sport mode is just enough to have some fun when you want.
Nice review, Matt. Interesting that in a comparison with a Dinan stroker E92 M3 on Vimeo you preferred the M4. I spent less on a used E92 M3 with a newly installed Dinan stroker engine than I would have on a new M4. So glad I made that choice. The enhanced V8 is something else. I just ran a 0-60 MPH in 3.6 seconds with an outside temperature of nearly 90 degrees so the car should easily do less than 3.4 seconds in cooler temps. Sticky Michelin PS Cup 2 tires really help. Stay tuned in the next few months for videos on mine or statjr's channel.
How about this: to resolve the sound issue, replace fuel injection pump and rails with 3 2-barrel Webers, add velocity stacks to each Weber. Theoretically, you'd get the air induction from the carbs and the hiss of the turbos. I imagine an extensive level of modification would be needed though (new intake, re-route the turbo plumbing, without the fuel injectors the turbos would basically be on or off mecahnical boost instead of electronically controlled according to throttle and engine load, etc.), and most likely power output would drop. BUT, it'd sound more fun :)
Great review Matt. Interesting that you seemed to prefer the M4 over the Dinan E92 M3 in a previous review on vimeo. I have a 4.6 liter stroker E92 M3, and it is a blast. So glad I did that over buying an M4. Just ran a 0-60 MPH in 3.6 seconds at a temp of almost 90 degrees with humidify. Car should easily be good for less than 3.4 seconds when cooler out. Love that V8. Stay tuned for some videos on mine and statjr's channel in the next few months.
My favorite cars are the GT and GT-type cars. Even with the stiff suspension, I imagine this is a great one: highways usually let you get away with stiffer suspension, and in the city or mountains, it's more fun, so I find it's great on a gt car.
erick99able I lunched my Hero 3+ on Rally North America after it fell off and I ran it over on the dragstrip, so the new exterior camera is a Hero 4 Silver. The picture quality is better with the new camera.
I still think the e9x was BMW's zenith. What phenomenal every day cars. And let's face it, an uncorked S65 may very will be in the top 10 greatest sounding V8's of all time. I miss you e9x! I miss what BMW was.
Matt your video is about to go viral, seen it on several diff sites all because of those idiots stretching in the road, so it kinda worked out for you lol.
I have an e46 and applied a custom cat back and extractors because the sound is kinda iffy, now sounds like an angry Bentley at 6.5 very throaty, though lower revs when parking extra kinda sounds like a boat lol
"Experts" say Carbon Ceramic brakes do not provide better stopping power until the brakes are hot (ie they're fade resistant). So, Carbon brakes are not required unless you do a lot of track days.
Hey Matt, are you ever going to review a stock/slightly modified N54 BMW 135i? I'd love to see you do one because there aren't very many reviews on them.
It may never sound exactly like a v8 but with some exhaust mods turbo cars can be made to sound pretty nice. I have turbo vw and a custom exhaust made a night and day difference over stock.
@TheSmokingTire - Matt, curious if you spoke to the guys at Dinan about their adjustable suspension for M3/4s with the BMW adaptive dampers and how comfort compares to stock and also to the non-adaptive DInan suspension. The non-adaptive suspension on the M4 you tested sounds maybe too harsh for everyday use (assuming Dinan tuned it full stiff for testing purposes). Contemplating doing the whole suspension setup on mine.
The Angeles Crest mountains are great, not to mention police NEVER go up there. I take my e46 up this road every week if I can. It's only 20 minutes from my home :)
Was sport plus on whole time for engine? I believe the exhaust valves controlling sound are most open/efficient in sport plus, car is rather mute in comfort and sport
BanDiGo That doesn't make sense. At such LOW speeds (he was almost on a crawl when that happened), there's no need for rev matching so rev matching is irrelevant here. The jerk seems to be the same as when you release the clutch too early on a manual transmission car. This abnormality happens a lot on DCT equipped Ford cars. I didn't know that BMW M cars, knowing that they're top of the line german-developed cars, also suffers from the same problem.
***** When you put the car in Sport+ mode, the throttle is incredibly sensitive and the clutch packs engage harder,, which is most noticeable at crawling, parking lot speeds. When you put the car in comfort mode it behaves much smoother at those low speeds. In these M cars, you really do need to use the different modes for different driving situations, unlike an AMG car, when you can buy the car, put it in Sport+, and never touch it again.
Hey Matt love the channel! I apologize if this question has already been answered, but what editing software do you use? I love that PIP set up the one takes always have!
Matt, considering trading my ZL1 for one of these 2015 M3s. I'm pretty much an intake/exhaust/tune guy, this looks it'll keep up with my muscle car with more finesse to daily drive to work! Great video, can't wait to check out what Dinan has to offer!
Such a great video. I wish someone would give you a C7 Z06 withe Z07 package so you could do a similar video. Keep up the good work. I enjoy your videos more than I do the videos on /Drive+
Ever saw the meme "Stop signs, traffic laws, and red lights, are powerless against us chosen ones" with a picture of a cyclist? The embodiment of that meme is 2:26
Hey Matt, Cool to see you adding watch bits in, i was curious what your daily watch was, I wear a Seiko Cocktail time daily, i prefer automatics ( watches, not transmissions )
I really think we've come to a time where Numbers really don't matter at all. Matt i love your reviews cause you're so honest and let's be honest would you take 911 GT3 over Cayman GT4? me NO same thing with BMW M2 is the new small fun car this M4 is more like a replacement for M5 E39 IMO.
Chin up Matt ! Looked like u were trying to be positive there, I hear ya brother..I own an e46 m3.. and I passed on the e92 because i thought it was too big, and the e90 looked too bland..now the m4 is even bigger.. i think I'll hold on to my e46 because I love that straight six whale, especially with the CF airbox... and get a 1 series swapped with an S65b40 !
+David Peck oh I wouldn't swap the s54, I meant get a none-M 1 séries, swap the s65 in their and the 1m under carriage and suspension as a project car. S54 is a gem
TheSmokingTire true i didn't hear that. even so i only payed 5-600 over that. You are right at the beginning of the vid though after driving my friends F80 m3 i do prefer the v8
TheSmokingTire Have you ever done an e36? Love the show. Just curious cause i've recently bought a m44 coupe and im considering different options swap wise.. I have seen the z3, e46 and e30 ones.
2:25 ... those mother fuckers were seriously stretching in the middle of the road.... LMFAO i didn't believe you at first because i wasn't watching just listening... but my expression was the same as yours.. speechless...
I think that maybe you should do a video on the akropovic exaust system and see weather or not you.like the sound and weather or not it worth getting for the price, wen you consider they alone cost more than $10k
What!? Bmw didnt put their sound amplifier in that car? I have 2000 E46 with Flowmaster. Sounds amazing windows up or down. And the downshift sounds good too.
Is that warranty like the Ford Racing parts? Where it is replaced by a different warranty that doesn't really cover as much. Or completely retains the factory one?
Why does it have crappy, low grip low tread wear Pirelli Pzero summers?, switching to Michelin Pilots will transform the car, add tons of grip in acceleration and handling, and longevity.
Definitely have to agree with the engine sound. I took one of these out when I bought my C63 507, and chose the C63. I don't really care which car is "better", but as a road car the C63 excited me way more, hence my decision. C'mon BMW, no one wants to hear fake sounds through the speakers, that is just stupid in a sports car.
I can't believe I saw a guy doing pushups with his legs IN THE ROAD! What sort of logic goes through ones head and says "yeah, this is a great idea"
Worldwide Darts His wife makes him bycicle. He desperately wants to stop biking at all costs, he knows how stupid it makes him look. Now u need to One take the Dinan M5 with 709 hp
Do you have any E46 M3's lined up? I'd love to see you review one.
DNAManufacturing He did a video about e46 M3 vs fiesta ST. It's not in one take format but it's something.
I asked him on his last video. He told me he has one lined up in the schedule. I have an 04's SMG in silver grey that I may enter into the waiting list.
Too bad smg is absolute garbage
No it isn't Rafi. I hope you've driven an ///M with SMG before you say that, because it's an amazing transmission. Lightning fast shifts, launch control, and paddles always make you feel like a racing driver!
David Peck Sure those SMGs can shift pretty fast, but not really "lightning fast shifts"
Always noticed you were a watch fan, Matt. Pretty cool that you're tying it in to the show. Love it!

TheSmokingTire Great review !! Love this car. Btw - love your sigh after passing the stretchers... 2:27
Man these new M4s are freaking stunning looking, so mean too. I like them a lot.
The roads are obviously for exercise and running.

I recently drove a E92 M3 with a G-Power supercharger kit mounted producing around 600 hp and I can definitely understand Matt's point regarding the sound. My opinion for the perfect new M4 is base model, Kw V3's, Eisenmann race Exhaust, aftermarket wider wheels, Turner Motorsports tune, all wraped together in a 6 speed stick, walah.
I wish I could know how fast Matt is actually going to know the capabilities of the cars better.
that car ate the miles like almost nothing I've seen in matt's drives before !
got the 428 msport auto (due to constant city traffic).
nothing like an M of course but for the money, it's worth it. comfort mode is perfect as a daily driver. sport mode is just enough to have some fun when you want.
Thanks to you Matt I'm now looking forward to buy this watch. Looks amazing and the price is reasonable.
That M4 would soak up those "speed bumps" Matt...lol Never stop making these vids, please.
Stay tuned for some videos on mine and statjr's channel in the next few months.
i love how you incorporate the watches you wear into the reviews :)
This looks so much better now that it's not in 60fps. Thanks TheSmokingTire
Approaching 700k views, BMW fans never disappoint ;)
Audio set-up sounds better. Nice work getting that sorted Matt.
Matt your maturity of BMW is clear. It's true the new ones are just not as good to the old E9Xr's.
This video was recorded at 1080p with 60fps. It's really silky smooth, I wonder what camera they used.
Ali Ahadi Yeah he mentioned it in the latest podcast and i think it is the Hero 4
+Daniel Guenther Dude, I want my eyes to be in 60FPS.
+Daniel Guenther you would make an excellent stenographer.

erick99able I lunched my Hero 3+ on Rally North America after it fell off and I ran it over on the dragstrip, so the new exterior camera is a Hero 4 Silver. The picture quality is better with the new camera.
Great work matt, as always. Would like to hear your thoughts on the Cayman S/GTS
Dinan provides incredible value. Hell of a company
I love watching you drive cars that i'll probably never own. Since you are a windows up kinda guy you should consider putting a mic near the exhaust.
I still think the e9x was BMW's zenith. What phenomenal every day cars. And let's face it, an uncorked S65 may very will be in the top 10 greatest sounding V8's of all time.

"...there are people literally, stretching in the road..." GG haha
I had planned on doing this to my m4. Thanks for the video
Great road, great car, great footage. Enjoyed it.
Ye, I think I would rather get the E46 CSL and take whatever maintenance and repair bills it might bring. That straight six is godlike.
It may never sound exactly like a v8 but with some exhaust mods turbo cars can be made to sound pretty nice. I have turbo vw and a custom exhaust made a night and day difference over stock.

Which mic are you using TheSmokingTire ?? The audio is on point!
Such a great video. I wish someone would give you a C7 Z06 withe Z07 package so you could do a similar video. Keep up the good work. I enjoy your videos more than I do the videos on /Drive+

amazing car, looks stunning, and this colour is perfect
gotta love the people stretching in the street! hahaha too funny
haven't watched yet but holy fuck i'm hyped. love this car and these one takes Matt!
Go bananas with it kick up everything to 700hp if possible.
Matt how do you feel about a supercharged e92 m3 vs a bmw m4? What car would you take and why?
matt 2 question is this car more fun than a e46 m3 let's say both with same mods I don't mean faster just which one makes ya smile more
Hey Matt, Cool to see you adding watch bits in, i was curious what your daily watch was, I wear a Seiko Cocktail time daily, i prefer automatics ( watches, not transmissions )
Chris Howell I've been wearing the same Rolex Submariner 50th anniversary (kermit) edition for the last 7 years.
TheSmokingTire well okay, let me clear up my drool. Drives cool cars, and wears amazing watches. -hero status achieved.

What's your favorite top two manual transmission cars to drive under $100k, balance, sound, fun to drive?

TheSmokingTire Would love to see a review and your opinion of the A45 AMG
Chin up Matt ! Looked like u were trying to be positive there, I hear ya brother..I own an e46 m3.. and I passed on the e92 because i thought it was too big, and the e90 looked too bland..now the m4 is even bigger.. i think I'll hold on to my e46 because I love that straight six whale, especially with the CF airbox... and get a 1 series swapped with an S65b40 !
But the S54 is great, no need to swap it man!!! Keep it! I have an 04' coupe in silver grey and I absolutely love mine
+David Peck oh I wouldn't swap the s54, I meant get a none-M 1 séries, swap the s65 in their and the 1m under carriage and suspension as a project car. S54 is a gem
Ah I see. I think someone did that before, I remember seeing a video somewhere, I just don't remember who made it.
+David Peck yeah matt reviewed a similar car, a friend of mine did this too, then supercharged it with an ess 750 hahha crazy
Do you think you could start putting a camera to read the tach on these reviews? Being able to see the mph and the revs go up would be awesome.
Yea
Speeding. Don't document yourself breaking the law
better video than most--even better then my videos!
Seems like this car would be perfect for touring. Quiet, fast, comfortable, ok milage and a warranty sounds about right.
jacob prentner IMO too stiff suspension, its quite deceiving on these smooth canyon roads.
I'm so glad you started off by saying you miss the V8 and the sounds that came with it.
10K ?!?! i payed less for a new ESStuning 625 supercharger kit on my e92 M3!
Why doesn't anyone listen? The power kit is only 7
TheSmokingTire true i didn't hear that. even so i only payed 5-600 over that. You are right at the beginning of the vid though after driving my friends F80 m3 i do prefer the v8
TheSmokingTire next time you find yourself in Germany you should take mine for a one take here ;)
Joseph Dimmick I've already reviewed a 700 supercharged E92 M3. ruclips.net/video/1786HyfmYsc/видео.html
If I had to pick a 2 car garage I would have an F30 M3 as a daily and a Porsche 991 GT3 as my weekend/track car
TheSmokingTire Does the tune on the M4 include limiter removal?
Matt what felt faster, this M4 or the supercharged C7 you recently drove?
Andy C7/SRT The C7 would smoke it in a drag race.
2:30 Damn, crossfitters take the exercise into another level.
No, it completely retains the factory warranty.
Why does it have crappy, low grip low tread wear Pirelli Pzero summers?, switching to Michelin Pilots will transform the car, add tons of grip in acceleration and handling, and longevity.
2:27 is one of the reasons guns were invented.
Samniss Arandeen Nah, an off balance probe with a Kerbodyne fuel tank works way better
