BMW E92 M3 6MT - One Take

- Опубликовано: 28 ноя 2024
- The BMW E92 M3 is finally affordable enough to be cross-shopped with some fairly basic commuter cars, and so it's time for a re-visit of a mostly stock example. This manual-transmission example has underdrive pulleys, exhaust, a set of StopTech brakes, and not much else, and is the owner's daily driver and track toy. Buy them now, while you still can.
Check out Sherwin's RUclips channel here to see more videos of his M3!

Gotta love the S65 V8 in M3s, I've had mine 6 yrs now. Still in love.
How many miles?
best engine ever in an M3
Don’t forget to service your rod bearings ;)
Knock knock!!!
Who's there?
Rod
Rod who?
Rod Bearing!!
legendary motor
This thing is beyond clean. The e46 and e92 are 2 of the sickest looking m3's ever built. These will age extremely well. Design is so fluid. Normally cars grow on me but the new m3 has not since its inception in 2014. Wouldn't mind buying a 2013 e92 m3 in a couple of years.
don't like the "newer" interiors...
+asf king The e30 M3 still looks best to me. Even when I see an e30 replicated to look like an m3 I have to rearrange my undergarments.
+Ethanmeister rofl. bruh. that was hilarious . but I would def get a 2013 comp pack and keep the miles low by using it as a weekend car so it retains its value. or jdm cars like the honda s2000 or Integra type r.
+Mike g Fucking Dumbass.
100 percent agree. The best thing about the e92 and the e46 is you can grab em relatively cheap with good mileage, well here in the uk anyway
I always get more compliments on my recaro baby seat than my car!
Well...I mean...If the username is any indication...
Not exactly an EXCITING car. Capable, but not exactly seething with lustful vibes.
Michael 1 I've owned a lot of random cars, but currently an STI and an E36 M3. But even from car people, its always the baby seat pulling the high fives.
my buddy has a recaro baby seat in his WRX, I had 2 in my outback, lol must be a subaru dad thing.
+Michael 1 Do you have anything better to do than talk shit?
Sebastian McCabe I suppose I do.
It isn't talking shit. Definitely a capable car...Not an exciting car with mass consensus curb appeal.
If you take it as shit talking, you've got an internal issue you need to address.
Though slower, this E92 M3 is a much more interesting car than the current F80 M3 & F82 M4. The NA V8 might have something to do with it; plus the F80 is a tad oversized these days.
s65 engine is dope, need to be swapped in the e36 body
Brother i fully agree with you
Best era of M3 ever made. My dad had one he bought new and I am kicking myself right now for not buying it when he sold it.
I predict that these will go up in value later down the line. NA V8, Manual, to me the last true m3.
And revs till 8.5k

DCT 0-60 3.9

it just amazes me how much matt knows about every car, he just notices that the shifter is a little shorter. best car review channel on the youtubes imo.
Yawp, wasn’t his first time driving it
These videos are getting better, I like the shots of the car passing from the outside, really lets you hear the exhaust.
I drive an E39 M5 which I love for long highway drives, but my mom's E90 M3 is soooo good at handling poor road surfaces in the corners. It may not have the torque but it is a lot more confident.
-Tedward
Always impressed about your ability to pick small changes from the original, Matt, even though you haven't driven an M3 for a while. Like that shifter throw thing. That's finesse, man!
This thing is so quiet on the inside, but if you rev it it sounds so good. Got to love it for everyday use!
As far as looks, E30 and E46 M3's are still my favorites.
best BMW interiors also!
*AHEM* (E36)
MrCarGuy20
E36's can be cool but I still like E30's and E46's better.
+Patrick94GSR Your loss and more for me then, eh.
MrCarGuy20
huh? just personal preference dude. I doubt I'll ever own a BMW anyway.
Just picked up my 08 M3 two weeks ago with 61k miles for 29,250. I'll be keeping her for a very very long time.
just purchased one today man hows is yours doing you?
Let’s get an update...how’s your E92 doing these days?
Guess it didn’t work out haha
Sorry never realized you guys responded. I had Auto Couture motoring replace the rod bearings for preventative maintenance. Other than that she’s been bulletproof.
Nice!
I love the baby seat in the back
Damn clean e92 m3. Sounds awesome.
Thanks lol
finally! was waiting for an e92 6mt m review. awesome video. this is the best drivers car for the money.
WOW! You have to love the sound of that BMW V8..sounds amazing!
Most of matts interior gripes are because of his own girth. Haha
yep
Yea if he lost 100lbs out of his ass hed sit lower
Thank you so much for this video.
I was really hoping you would flim this car and you delivered. I'm a happy man.
Also I bought an E92/ M3/ 6MT pretty much like this one about a month ago. And I'm totally in love. I took it to the Alps last weekend together with a couple of other petrolheads and boy did it deliver. It is f**king fast, it makes the perfect noise and it is so nice to handle.
But I loved it the most in the rain. I have never driven a car so fast in the rain like this one. It is just fantastic.
So if you read this and are thinking about buying this or any other car, trust me: Buy this car!!
I've had Porsches and a few other exotic cars but I have never been as satisfied with a car as this one. You will be happy every second you sit in it!!
Man I really wish I could afford an E92!! All BMW M series are just next to none! And at the same time your getting a nice luxury interior while also having that M Performance that BMW just does so right all the time. Great video dudes!
E92 M3 is one of my favourite BMW ever, just an akrapovic exhaust and CSL style wheels and it's perfect.
The E30 will always be my favourite M3
Always will be mine.
e36 M is way better
+Dimitri Smith in the US the e36 was the least special
+Dimitri Smith Well, if you're talking numbers yeah... but the E30 is the first M3 and was one of the ultimate driver's car back in the day
not sure if you watch motor trend on youtube but they have a cool video on it and the host has a sexy e30 hatchback
I just love the sound this motor makes. The new one with the fake Active sounds, terrible exhaust rattle and vaccum like sounds are not as palatable.
Fuck. I'm stoned and i said Hi back at Matt in the intro. LETS GOOOOOOOO.
sweet brooooooooo -_____-
Smoking pot isn't cool it makes you act like an idiot straight up.
Ahmad Elakour Or you'll what on what?? Calm down Saddam, jeezus
looool
I've done the very same thing before on some edibles man
I have an '08 E92 as well, but with the DCT. Stock except for a full Meisterschaft GT2 exhaust, valves removed. Definitely one of the most enjoyable driver's cars around :)
This car with aftermarket exhaust sounds DELIGHTFULLY BRUTAL :''D
Last of the V8s! E90/E92/E60 M cars will be definitely collectors.
Fuck you were ripppppping at 2:51 hahaha aww yeee
All out of car shots are driven by the owner
Thanks but that's not me driving.
nice answer Matt :)
+TheSmokingTire filmed in Mexico.
Regardless of who's driving #moar
Yes!! I've been waiting for you to review one of these. They're one of my favourite cars, not the fastest, but n/a v8 in a 3 series chassis. I'd love to own one.
I said I'll watch it later but I got 10 minutes till graduation starts!
Congratulations!
You can always graduate whenever...but to watch a TheSmokingTire video about an E92 M3 6-speed immediately upon release? Good luck until he finds another one lol. jkjk Congrats!
congratulations!!!! good luck with the rest of your life
EYYYY Good luck after man!
Congratulations! I wish you all the best!
Loving the camera on this one ! Full screen experience is on spot with that drive cam !
I also roll the Recaro seat for the baby. A Recaro seat saved me in E36 M3 Rollover in 16 years ago so the kids had to get one too.
Never knew these things had rod bearing issues. I was actually looking at one of these things a few months ago.
I like how most of the car videos I have seen on youtube, folks with families have the mandatory Recaro baby seat in the back seat! Since I have two kids, I bought two of those seats.
Great episode. Always good to see M cars on this channel.
Ya ever notice there's a pause, each and every time you ask someone how reliable their German car is? lol
Nice car. The last of the good BMW's, and you got it in the best trim, with a proper manual, well done.
Really like these. Last high revving NA with that awesome chassis.
Fantastic cars the m3's! Had a manual e92 a couple years ago which was decatted and it was so much fun. Have a DCT one now so still trying to decide what I prefer.........
The ultimate driving machine.
From hating on keemstar to this channel, good change. Love this beamer!
E92 sounds so good with aftermarket exhaust.
Front view camera looked really good in this one.
Loving all these bmw One Takes!
Very nice sports car! those roads are awesome, would be up there every weekend.
If you're considering this car definitely take that seat height issue Matt mentioned into consideration. I noticed it as soon as I drove mine away from the dealership.. thought it wasn't a big deal but on a day to day basis it is! It almost ruins the entire car. If you're over six foot you'll feel that even in the lowest position that you are sitting on the car and not in it. I didn't want to replace the front seat because they are heated and powered but I have plans to purchase a recaro pole position seat that will lower it a good 3 inches. Thanks Matt for being the only reviewer ever to mention this about the e92 m3. I guess all the other videos I watched were taken by short british guys who didn't notice haha.
On a side note if you research this topic on the forums you'll find one guy explaining how the German engineers purposely rose the seat height from the floor so that all of their customers would be able to see over the hood bulge LOL.
At 5'8" the seat height doesn't bother me at all.
+Sptsmn700 yeah Matt is just big guy, most guys won't have the problems he has because of his size
LOVE the sound of these. so luscious.
Well done once again, Matt. The sound of that V8 m3 makes me happy because it's great and sad because they're a dying breed. If/when you're back in southern Connecticut visiting family, you're welcome to one take my Nissan 370Z or Infiniti G37x - yes...I basically bought the same car twice.
love this can wait to add one to my collection. 2 bmw's i think need to be reviewed are an M coupe I have in mind and e60 m5 both are outstanding quality well thought out builds.
Great video as per usual Matt, keep it up, we all appreciate it! Much love from New Zealand
The perfect M3! Fantastic!
Such a smart owner! He decided the best mods you can ever do to that M3 is to keep it STOCK!! Things go very wrong when youre chasing a hp figure... Especially after you've already replaced the bearings/engine. I recently had to do a motor swap on my Matrix XRS (got the car for bone cheap, but still ouch...) and all I want to do to it is keep it bone stock.. Maybe an intake, but bone stock otherwise. Im not chasing hp, im just so glad to finally be driving a 6 speed car and just appreciating her exactly how she is..
well, the exhaust system can be changed to give it some more crips cabin noise and 40 extra hp. Other than that you don't need to do much
This is my favorite car ever. I always head people say the E46 M3 is the best (COUGH Chris H.), but once I drove on of these, I had a hard time seeing how anyone would ever confuse the E9X inferior to the E46. It was better in power, handling, AND experience.
I hear about people having kids and giving up their performance car, or getting a 4-door, but apparently the M3 coupe fits the bill as a fast baby hauler.
Great car, enjoyed the review. Knowledgeable owner as well. Car ages like a fine wine.
It's funny how when the E90/91/92/93's came out we talked about how much we missed the E46 and now that the F80 is out we talk about how much we miss the E92! I'm guilty as well...except I love 335i's so much it's nice to see technology moving forward on the N54/N55 through the S55 in the new F80...time will only tell
And yes I'm aware the E91 was never an M
I’d like to see him really push this car on a real twisty road, in my experience these cars are faster then most through the real twistys, super balanced car
Notice at 1:03 Matt teleports out of the driver seat after "lets see what's going on", Sherwin takes off at WOT and then Matt re-appears in the driver seat. 👍🏿Classic
God I can't wait for you to get your hands on an e46 M3 . hopefully you can get one fully stock and another track built one !
Hey Matt, will you ever do a One Take of your Aston Martin?
That e92 has a great sound.
Gotta love the E92 especially when running E85 with the PROFLEX Commander!
Underdrive pulleys do not produce any additional horsepower. They are just lighter pulleys than stock and reduce the parasitic loss of power on the engine.
Besides the car being cool, that babyseat at 0:43 looks awesome lol. if i had kids of my own, i would totally buy that haha.
Thinking about getting rid of my e92 335 for one of these...even though my tuned e92 beats the M3 on a straight the e92 m3 is a whole different animal on the track....and e92 is one of my favorite body styles
You boys kill me “ My tuned 335 beats a E92 M3 “ will it does NOT as to be fair the E92 M3 needs to be equally tuned.
Anything short of that makes your story worthless and invalid.
335i are just a poor person’s M3
@@992turbos8 Tuning the S65 is not easy. Its an NA engine. I have pulleys, Eisenmann exhaust and ESS tune and might have got like 20-30 hp if I am lucky.
Your PSA's have worked me over Matt. I've whitelisted this channel from my adblock software.
Do the rod bearings, throttle actuators and you've got yourself a rock solid track monster. If you live where it's hot, just upgrade your coolers.
still in love with that 488 i seen in the background
me too I couldn't keep my eyes off of it lol
who's car is it?
looks like stock 488 not fancy i rather have the bimmer
That's actually a Ferrari press car that was loaned to Matt for a week to review. That car is a beast! I took some in car footage when he took me for a spin :)
+surewin You sure are a lucky guy huh? lol
That is nice setup for track , would be great to see it in full throttle action at race track.
This is the most comfortable I've ever seen a driver, wrongful car. Keep up the good work Matt and thanks for the content.
The M3 will always be the benchmark
except for the F80/F82 which might be 1st, 2nd or 3rd place depending who you ask
Jonathan Kim every m3 has always been #1 and everyone always complains about it at first for the first 2-3 years of it being introduced
i can't speak for every reviewer/person, but from what i've read and seen it seems that the general consensus is the 2015 initial M3 version was not up to par versus its competitors and only recently the new competition package has improved despite MT rating the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrofoglio as better than the M3 comp pack
Great car tried a few before i got my Cayman S it felt so practical and comfortable despite that basically race engine. although with the size and weight of it i would not classify it as a sports car and a bit to porky and sedan-y for the track (in stock form). I fell the Cayman because its a more pure sports car and more engaging to drive, and more fun on the track, but you give up the back seat!
Hey Matt, I've watch your videos regularly, and I don't use adblock, but I never see an ad during your videos. So check that out.
Nice teeth, good dental hygiene. Also nice car
lol thanks- are you a dentist?
I don't understood what tires have you?
+surewin BEAUTIFUL teeth. I can tell you've been flossing regularly. The paint matches those pearly whites! also nice m3
+Andrew Chung you triggered buddy
Either that or he's a hygienist. Lol..
Hey Matt, have you ever thought about doing a comparison? Like combine multiple one takes and give a conclusion scene? If the owners didn't mind of course!
After selling my brz i went back and forth on buying one of these versus a new mustsng gt. In the end I went with the mustang. It some ways I regret it. However when I think about the cost of maintenance and consumables, I still think in the end of the day I made the right choice. It may cost 30-35k now used but it's maintenance costs and aftermarket parts cost are still one of a 70k car.
Probably the best bmw ever
Hey Matt can you and Jay leno's garage do a cross over show? I feel like you two are probably the most in depth car reviewers. Really get into the nitty gritty. Anyway love the one takes, thanks for the hours of entertainment.
Nice car! Almost bought one but I got scared of the rod bearing issues, kept ask myself what if while and then...
Sounds so much better than the new M3 and M4.
Great sounding car & I loved how my 328i drove. Always loved BMW's, but the "rolling the dice" as Matt says with the maintenance & "never knowing what might come up" that needs repair kept me from getting another BMW. I wonder what else he's had to fix & how many window regulators/cables he's replaced, lol.
Have an 2011 e90. Jerez with bamboo; slick top, Comp package; only 4 spec'd this way in the US.
Good review. Feel lucky to own one of these beasts!
My fave M car! Love, love, love it!
For daily driving would you prefer DCT or 6MT? Keeping in mind how well they both perform and LA traffic?
The v8 e92 m3 sounds amazing wish Bmw still manufactured those engines
Best thing about this car is the engine/sound
Been looking forward to this review! Was kind of hoping to hear Matt compare the engine to the GT350, high revving V8 and all. Even at 5'11", the seat height is my biggest complaint about this car.
FYI for all - I got my 2008 M3 6MT coupe w/118k miles for just a few over $20k! Even with that mileage the car is very clean inside with little wear. Goes to show how well put together these things are. Full walk around of it is on the RightFootDown YT channel for anyone interested.
20k with 118k miles? you got ripped off.
My favourite car, ever.
There's currently a supercharged manual coupe for sale near me for £22k These cars are fantastic value right now
The last great M3 & now we got these new f80 plastic watered down turbo'ed M3's
I feel like the f80s will be the next standard for the m3 since it keeps going g up
Great review. These M3's are a cracking bit of kit! 👍
These E9X series are so tempting now but man that maintenance though... On another note, i noticed that the E46 M3 prices have started to slowly go up again.
Does your Aston Martin not have an unlimited mileage bumper to bumper warranty? Bumper. To Bumper.
Matt how do you feel about this car vs the newer one? i know you talk about the seating position and the sound. But would you say the overall experience is better in the e92 despite it being obviously slower than the newer car?
I wanted a E90/92 M3 badly but the mpg on a daily commute is horrendous albiet fun. Rod bearings are the most expensive repair. I've seen some listed and sold quick on craiglist with 150k plus miles so when taken care of right it's going to be a solid car. They coming down on price right now but i'm sure there will be a upswing later as all the older gen M3s are appreciating. Last of the NA Ms.
I got my bearings replaced with WPC surface treated ones for $2500 including labor, which is not bad at all. Carbon fiber splitters are more expensive for this car.
Rob Daman the rod bearing issue is insanely overblown, of course if you log into the forums it seems as though every car is going to blow up, but this could not be further from the truth. I have a 2010 e90 with 90k miles and it never has broken the throttle actuators( forums will tell you that they will break no matter what) and it has never had rod bearing failure. You just have to maintain it religiously and let it heat up when you start it so the oil flows. Also don’t treat it like shit and the car wont treat you like shit back.
Love my 2012 comp pack e92 M3, great video Matt
Spencer Burke just bought one,its a nice car
best M3 ever made
Was waiting for Matt to say what a treat the car was lol.
