You should bring a large plastic bin that says sold on it, so when you want to make a pile, it’s not where people walk and so people know you want it and don’t start digging through your items. Then you have an easy way to take things to your vehicle
I use to run estate sales. You were so lucky to be the first. I'm in my 80's love to watch your videos and Kayla videos. I also had a shop. Would go to all the places you go. I can't do anymore but I love to shop with you. 😊😊
As someone who just got burnt from an estate sale company for having a "pre" sale the day before the official day I can honestly say I will never go to any estate sale ran by companies that do that. I drove for an hour and waited 2 hours to be the first in line just to find out the items I wanted were all sold the previous day. Nope, won't waste my time on them.
Yes. Yes. And yes. It's fine that they do that but take the posted pictures AFTER you have let the "special" buyers through. Don't mislead people with items in pictures that aren't available. I totally understand your frustration.
Totally agree so unfair for the majority of buyers and also for the family.....This estate sale company will lose many of their former best customers...Too Bad
I always suspected many estate sale companies doing this. This is why I stopped going to them. I would make a list based on the pictures provided to find out that they were all gone even though I was one of the first ones there.

I'm okay with this as long as none of these items are shown in the estate sale advertisements. Because, it would be very bad "IF" people are first in line to buy items that have been sold. With that said, this is another great video and I would love to have that opportunity.

Tbh the what you paid vs what you expect is one of the best parts of watching videos like this taking that element out sort of ruins it, for all we know you made $100 or $10000 I understand keeping negotiations private or even final pricing but at least ballpark pricing make the video better imo.
This is an interesting dynamic! If his company is transparent that they do pre-sales everything is cool. A lot of companies arent transparent about it and its pretty disillusioning because you can be waiting hours before a sale opens only to learn it was already(secretly) picked over beforehand.
Yes, you came across some of the finer collections definitely ... The jacket and belts of those had such beautiful intricique (spelling bad lol) work on them... They had taste for sure. Yes, having those connections with Mike the auction man is great.... Mike's crew did a fabulous job setting up, very organized sale... was very classy.

Those belts were fabulous…some of those buckle prices were amazing! I have never been to an Estate Sale. It was a very nice thing for your friend to do for you! I love all your videos💜!

Definitely feeling for the family here due to prices not being shown. I would like to think they were in the k know on this. Otherwise not a good look all the way around at all! This video may be one that does more damage than good all the way around... curious if we ever see videos like this one again. Overall though have to assume good intentions here and great haul!!

Nice haul. Being a reseller myself you build a lot of relationships with people that you buy from regularly. I do have items held for me at the flea market and thrift stores. Yes some people do get better pricing than others. Being kind, polite and fair goes a long way. Every person along the way is just trying to earn a living.
"It's not like I paid pennies on the dollar, I paid estate sale prices"... then what is the point of not showing the prices you paid? And even if you actually did pay "estate sale prices" and decided for some unknown reason not to show it, the issue is still that the estate sale company let someone come in and pick many of the top items first...
The goal is to sell and who cares who gets there first. If you do not like the process of estate sales then do not go to them. Having pre sales probably happens more than you think. Matt is being honest on how he got into this sale. His video, his choice on what to share. I love his quiet demeanor at sales no matter who he is talking too. Matt is all CLASS. I learn from the knowledge he shares. Thanks Matt for making these videos.
Picking the top items first? Who cares, though? Are you jealous of Matt having connections like this and you don't? You're not owed any information from anyone, at any time, on the internet. You have paid $0 for special access to what Matt spends in a shopping trip. You're entitled to nothing here.
I thought he looked familiar 😀 - I only source from Estate Sales and the ones I go to normally are Modesto, Turlock, Oakdale and surrounding areas. They are one of the more pricey estate sales around here - maybe that is why he is doing more your direction. Around here we also have a few others that will give REALLY good bulk deals BUT they don't do before sales to anyone - they stick with first come, first serve, so if you see it in the pictures, you see it at the sale too. Not saying anything bad about any of this - just other estate sales run differently - that many people are really use to around here . I am really glad he is finding places that take his prices better - it is great for his family he is selling for and I love his shop 😀 Estate sale and their people are the best - I personally think 😀 - I have 4 different companies around here that we will start standing in line at 4am because the deals are so good and they are such great people. We have made personal friends with many of them. Maybe I will see you around town 😀
I swear everybody in America, this last couple of days have had mega scores! I really really really wish we could organise these in the UK! Great video mate

This is a bad practice of estate selling, I don't agree with this company pre-selling any estate item. Some of the estate sellers in our area do presales but it is for several hours the night before the sale and the people on their mail lists are invited but it is open to the public and advertised. If you come the night before, the prices are set plus you pay a buyer's premium of 10% and they will not come down.
Watch all your videos!! This one had 😮me gasping for breath!! 😊 beautiful things! By far, the vintage leather carrying case!! Awesome pick!! I know you will do really well with all of the items you chose!!! Keep picking and we will keep watching!! From Texas
Very cool, Matt! I love all your vids! Every kind and all in between! Beautiful home and life collection of one of the rich and famous! ( : Thanks so much for sharing! ( :
I really liked the paintings - with ducks... why didn't you buy them? - These are expensive paintings... they look very cozy in the interior space... as if they invite material well-being! - The house is very neat: all items in the house are put up for sale with respect, clean, tidy...
Cool video. I am a big fan and watch everything you put out Matt but when no pricing and art of the deal is made it really made for a lackluster ending. Exciting parts of the videos is what you get for killer prices. Hopefully you won’t leave the deals out again.
As a kid growing up in Pacifica in the 60's and 70's, seeing all that Bay Meadows stuff brings back great memories. My Dad took me to the track almost everyday, he loved his horse betting. We also spent many days at Golden Gate Fields. It is a shame that it is now a bygone era. Kids nowadays have no idea what it used to be like. Great score.
Mouth dropping estate sale!! So many cool things. Hope you make a bundle. As you were picking up items I thought “I hope you brought $10,000 with you!! This is going to cost you”.
Good for you on the score, but why would anyone want to hire that dude to sell their loved one's estate if he's just going to let his friends come in early and pick the most valuable stuff? He should be focused on maximizing the return for his clients, which cannot be achieved by giving early access to resellers. People who want those things for their own personal use are going to be willing to pay a lot more for them than you are.
A little jelly but do agree I wouldn't want resellers having first shot at it. There is value in getting a serious cash buyer in first to paying a premium price vs. chances of items getting stolen, damaged, marked down, or never sold at all. My guess is this had to of been cleared by the family first. No way they air this video if not...
Have you ever been to an estate sale? Generally high end items stay there until the last day because of the high prices. Or the estate sale will give a deal on the 1st day knowing the above. Normally the deal is made to a reseller, not a collector!
You found a gem in Mike! It's good to have estate sale connections. And yes to get the premium stuff first all at once is worth paying up because often times you can get things at a reasonable price and make several hundred or a few thousand.
Matt, this might not be a good thing as if people in this area see your videos of the sale see it, probably would not go if they knew it was picked before the sale was supposed to start. Good idea to do it but, better idea would be not to broadcast it , if you know what I mean! Would hurt his crowd at the sales . We have dealers here that do this and I will not go to their sales! Just my opinion, up to you what you do with it. Been on eBay for 26 years.
Mikes antique shop is a really nice one. That is completely awesome to pick an estate before it opens. I have shown up at 3:30 in morning to some to try and get what I want. That is not always a guarantee either.
The best thing any reselling business could do going to a place like this, naturally need to have the capital to cover it, but buy out the whole inventory. Not the house itself, although could be a good house to get based on all the amazing stuff they had inside. Was just gold mines everywhere. Clearly a family of wealthy collectors, everywhere you turn there is something worth a minimum of $100. This estate sale company did well on this house.
Why is everyone so angry? Lol. This is his full time job. If he gets a big score, good for him! He’s met people over the years that give him a little advantage, stop hating on the man for making his dollar and taking care of his family. Sheesh!!
Love the channel and don’t usually comment but I agree with the other comments as a reseller i see why you would go early and get your hands on as much as possible but for the company it’s just not right. I get they need to make money for the family but everything will sell when the sale actually starts. People will drive far away and get in line early to be first and all that is for nothing if it’s already picked over.
Some companies do this. There is a company around here that lists everything just above eBay prices. I found out later that the owner of the estate sale company has other companies. He has an antique booth at an antique mall for high end items, and also owns a few thrift stores.
* Those were the most Beautiful items. The Owner had Exquisite taste. Just seeing things like that in a home was eye-opening. The brass cats were mid-century Modern & easy sellers, but not in the quality range of the Lladro, etc..Envy you that opportunity..
Great finds you have there. If I was there I should have taking the photo with the autograph of Bruce Willis. It was also in the place where you took the photo of bush. I am a big fan of Bruce Saw him in 1996 in Amsterdam when planet Hollywood has his grand opening. Unfortunately he doesn’t sign anything
Congratulations on a great pick, Matt. You have to spend money to make money at times. Nice overall and a good friend to boot. No body’s business how much you spent or where you will sell these items. Just happy for you. Have a great week. 😊😊
I have to disagree with your "nobody's business " comment. Matt always says how much he pays for items and for him not to tell us at the end after watching the entire video is not cool. I watch his videos to learn the business which includes what the cost of the items to then turn for a profit. Just my 2 cents.
You've entered the next level of reselling. Estate sales are the elite level. And there is a ton to learn. The brands and expertise in jewelery, clothing, furniture, paintings, art, books etc. You have to learn are above garage sales and flea markets because you're entering million dollar sometimes multi million dollar houses and these people have nice and unique and rare things that you'd never find at the former. The only reason you have access to it now is they passed or are in a nursing home. And their family are looking to cash in. I love estate sales the best. And I feel like it should be a channel of its own.
i knew before i started reading the comments what they would basically say... i dont understand why there are so many estate sale guru haters.. they hate anyone getting in first.. yet they sure would like to be first.. they hate estate sale companies selling to anyone other than them even though all the money goes to the estate.... why cant people stop being so competitive about the resell industry..? just like storage auctions people are such haters.. I do think the people running the sale didnt do a good job of taking valuables to a certain area as if they didnt even go through all that stuff yet.. I run these and no way $800 silver buckles would be on that floor!! they would have been listed online and so would the expensive designer purses.. whatever doesnt sell in a week goes back into the estate sale in a case near the register so you can make sure the client is getting all the money they should be. everyone gets a deal but they dont get to steal it.. i appreciate your video and sharing with us all..
You should bring a large plastic bin that says sold on it, so when you want to make a pile, it’s not where people walk and so people know you want it and don’t start digging through your items. Then you have an easy way to take things to your vehicle

Sheesh!!
I miss watching you do your own channel. It’s nice to see you make decisions without asking Kayla if you should get it.
The norm for estsre companies ismprice high..when sale ends the estate company puts in low ball bid and clears it out for the actual owner..
I feel like estate sale companies price super high so they can buy all the leftovers for pennies on the dollar and sell themselves.
Some companies do this. There is a company around here that lists everything just above eBay prices. I found out later that the owner of the estate sale company has other companies. He has an antique booth at an antique mall for high end items, and also owns a few thrift stores.
I have found that good companies actually mark the items under eBay value. Those are the companies to look for 😊
YES!! I go to Remember When antique mall in Modesto a couple of times a year! Always have great things and great personnel. Worth it!!
I just went recently. It’s a cool shop
What a gorgeous house! Awesome video!
Would have been nice to see what you paid. It's easy to just pick through a bunch of stuff when you're the only one.
That had tobe a 2000, haul easy. Shame you didn't put your price for selling at the end 😢 lol mx
I am a big fan of Bruce
Saw him in 1996 in Amsterdam when planet Hollywood has his grand opening.
Unfortunately he doesn’t sign anything
Congratulations on a great pick, Matt. You have to spend money to make money at times. Nice overall and a good friend to boot. No body’s business how much you spent or where you will sell these items. Just happy for you. Have a great week. 😊😊
I have to disagree with your
"nobody's business " comment. Matt always says how much he pays for items and for him not to tell us at the end after watching the entire video is not cool. I watch his videos to learn the business which includes what the cost of the items to then turn for a profit. Just my 2 cents.
Wonderful to see such amazing items Matt thank you
Loved the bag!!!
Wishing you every success.
Thanks for watching!
They are definitely different and fun. Thanks for watching!
i knew before i started reading the comments what they would basically say... i dont understand why there are so many estate sale guru haters.. they hate anyone getting in first.. yet they sure would like to be first.. they hate estate sale companies selling to anyone other than them even though all the money goes to the estate.... why cant people stop being so competitive about the resell industry..? just like storage auctions people are such haters..
Pre-sales for the friends, and resellers from estate sales is common where I live.
