You should bring a large plastic bin that says sold on it, so when you want to make a pile, it’s not where people walk and so people know you want it and don’t start digging through your items. Then you have an easy way to take things to your vehicle
As someone who just got burnt from an estate sale company for having a "pre" sale the day before the official day I can honestly say I will never go to any estate sale ran by companies that do that. I drove for an hour and waited 2 hours to be the first in line just to find out the items I wanted were all sold the previous day. Nope, won't waste my time on them.
Yes. Yes. And yes. It's fine that they do that but take the posted pictures AFTER you have let the "special" buyers through. Don't mislead people with items in pictures that aren't available. I totally understand your frustration.
Totally agree so unfair for the majority of buyers and also for the family.....This estate sale company will lose many of their former best customers...Too Bad
I've watched MOSTLY ALL OF THESE TYPES OF VIDEOS YARD SALES PICKERS GARAGE SALE FLIPPERS ETC WHAT'S REALLY NICE ABOUT THIS GUY IS HES NEVER TRYING TO BE FUNNY OR EMBARRASSE ANYONE HES JUST POLITE STAYS PROFESSIONAL, BUSINESS ETC ,😅
Tbh the what you paid vs what you expect is one of the best parts of watching videos like this taking that element out sort of ruins it, for all we know you made $100 or $10000 I understand keeping negotiations private or even final pricing but at least ballpark pricing make the video better imo.
I use to run estate sales. You were so lucky to be the first. I'm in my 80's love to watch your videos and Kayla videos. I also had a shop. Would go to all the places you go. I can't do anymore but I love to shop with you. 😊😊
Everyone is so upset but familys go through things before they have a estate sale. Im sure that was a family friend. More power to you Matt. I love those high quality sales.
I always suspected many estate sale companies doing this. This is why I stopped going to them. I would make a list based on the pictures provided to find out that they were all gone even though I was one of the first ones there.
I'm okay with this as long as none of these items are shown in the estate sale advertisements. Because, it would be very bad "IF" people are first in line to buy items that have been sold. With that said, this is another great video and I would love to have that opportunity.
@One-Eyed Willy's Rich Stuff what's disrespectful is showing the estate sale company's faces. I would of blurred them if I wanted to protect them. But this is Matt's first time so he's learning
Yes, you came across some of the finer collections definitely ... The jacket and belts of those had such beautiful intricique (spelling bad lol) work on them... They had taste for sure. Yes, having those connections with Mike the auction man is great.... Mike's crew did a fabulous job setting up, very organized sale... was very classy.
Estate Sales are often my favorite source. Good value for desirable items. Being selective on the area of the property, items are typically well cared for and some excellent vintage finds. This was indeed a fabulous niche for you.
Matt I just recently joined your channel and the love story with the Homeschooling Picker. Dude I favor your videos…you have great taste, smart buys ($$$) YOU KNOW YOUR SH#T!!!! Don’t doubt your choices, undervalue your expertise & experience, it’s obvious you will go far in the reselling business!!! Congrats…
This is an interesting dynamic! If his company is transparent that they do pre-sales everything is cool. A lot of companies arent transparent about it and its pretty disillusioning because you can be waiting hours before a sale opens only to learn it was already(secretly) picked over beforehand.
Keep an eye out for that kind of globe that was on the silver stand. The globe is made of semi-precious stone. Usually worth some decent money, kind of a pain to ship though.
"It's not like I paid pennies on the dollar, I paid estate sale prices"... then what is the point of not showing the prices you paid? And even if you actually did pay "estate sale prices" and decided for some unknown reason not to show it, the issue is still that the estate sale company let someone come in and pick many of the top items first...
The goal is to sell and who cares who gets there first. If you do not like the process of estate sales then do not go to them. Having pre sales probably happens more than you think. Matt is being honest on how he got into this sale. His video, his choice on what to share. I love his quiet demeanor at sales no matter who he is talking too. Matt is all CLASS. I learn from the knowledge he shares. Thanks Matt for making these videos.
Picking the top items first? Who cares, though? Are you jealous of Matt having connections like this and you don't? You're not owed any information from anyone, at any time, on the internet. You have paid $0 for special access to what Matt spends in a shopping trip. You're entitled to nothing here.
Those belts were fabulous…some of those buckle prices were amazing! I have never been to an Estate Sale. It was a very nice thing for your friend to do for you! I love all your videos💜!
This is a bad practice of estate selling, I don't agree with this company pre-selling any estate item. Some of the estate sellers in our area do presales but it is for several hours the night before the sale and the people on their mail lists are invited but it is open to the public and advertised. If you come the night before, the prices are set plus you pay a buyer's premium of 10% and they will not come down.
Good for you on the score, but why would anyone want to hire that dude to sell their loved one's estate if he's just going to let his friends come in early and pick the most valuable stuff? He should be focused on maximizing the return for his clients, which cannot be achieved by giving early access to resellers. People who want those things for their own personal use are going to be willing to pay a lot more for them than you are.
A little jelly but do agree I wouldn't want resellers having first shot at it. There is value in getting a serious cash buyer in first to paying a premium price vs. chances of items getting stolen, damaged, marked down, or never sold at all. My guess is this had to of been cleared by the family first. No way they air this video if not...
Have you ever been to an estate sale? Generally high end items stay there until the last day because of the high prices. Or the estate sale will give a deal on the 1st day knowing the above. Normally the deal is made to a reseller, not a collector!
I really liked the paintings - with ducks... why didn't you buy them? - These are expensive paintings... they look very cozy in the interior space... as if they invite material well-being! - The house is very neat: all items in the house are put up for sale with respect, clean, tidy...
Matt, this might not be a good thing as if people in this area see your videos of the sale see it, probably would not go if they knew it was picked before the sale was supposed to start. Good idea to do it but, better idea would be not to broadcast it , if you know what I mean! Would hurt his crowd at the sales . We have dealers here that do this and I will not go to their sales! Just my opinion, up to you what you do with it. Been on eBay for 26 years.
Why is everyone so angry? Lol. This is his full time job. If he gets a big score, good for him! He’s met people over the years that give him a little advantage, stop hating on the man for making his dollar and taking care of his family. Sheesh!!
Mouth dropping estate sale!! So many cool things. Hope you make a bundle. As you were picking up items I thought “I hope you brought $10,000 with you!! This is going to cost you”.
The best thing any reselling business could do going to a place like this, naturally need to have the capital to cover it, but buy out the whole inventory. Not the house itself, although could be a good house to get based on all the amazing stuff they had inside. Was just gold mines everywhere. Clearly a family of wealthy collectors, everywhere you turn there is something worth a minimum of $100. This estate sale company did well on this house.

I can see a private party doing a presale because they are the owners but a state sale company? I don’t know. What stops the state selling company be “in”with the buyer to sell cheap and then divide the profits? Owners trust the state sale company since they don’t know much about prices so the problem is I could sell my buddy Pete items worth 10K for 1K and get a kickback of 2K. Not saying then is the case just that doesn’t look very well for the estate selling company. They should have prices on everything and that way cheating is more difficult and as the owner of the estate I can question any prices I may feel are not to market value.
IMHO....This doesn't portray the estate company in a good way. You should never do any kind of pre-sales, it keeps things fair for the rest of your customers. Nobody wants to pick a cherry-picked estate.
Definitely feeling for the family here due to prices not being shown. I would like to think they were in the k know on this. Otherwise not a good look all the way around at all! This video may be one that does more damage than good all the way around... curious if we ever see videos like this one again. Overall though have to assume good intentions here and great haul!!
Just curious why would a estate sale company do pre sales? I can understand having a specialist coming in, and going through a large stack of baseball cards. But what's the benefit for them if they just allow someone to get first dibs on anything they want?
Nice haul. Being a reseller myself you build a lot of relationships with people that you buy from regularly. I do have items held for me at the flea market and thrift stores. Yes some people do get better pricing than others. Being kind, polite and fair goes a long way. Every person along the way is just trying to earn a living.
i knew before i started reading the comments what they would basically say... i dont understand why there are so many estate sale guru haters.. they hate anyone getting in first.. yet they sure would like to be first.. they hate estate sale companies selling to anyone other than them even though all the money goes to the estate.... why cant people stop being so competitive about the resell industry..? just like storage auctions people are such haters.. I do think the people running the sale didnt do a good job of taking valuables to a certain area as if they didnt even go through all that stuff yet.. I run these and no way $800 silver buckles would be on that floor!! they would have been listed online and so would the expensive designer purses.. whatever doesnt sell in a week goes back into the estate sale in a case near the register so you can make sure the client is getting all the money they should be. everyone gets a deal but they dont get to steal it.. i appreciate your video and sharing with us all..
Some companies do this. There is a company around here that lists everything just above eBay prices. I found out later that the owner of the estate sale company has other companies. He has an antique booth at an antique mall for high end items, and also owns a few thrift stores.
Great finds you have there. If I was there I should have taking the photo with the autograph of Bruce Willis. It was also in the place where you took the photo of bush. One typically wonders, what happens in order for an estate sale to occur, besides end of life. Seems occupants were on the younger side and still around.
I thought he looked familiar 😀 - I only source from Estate Sales and the ones I go to normally are Modesto, Turlock, Oakdale and surrounding areas. They are one of the more pricey estate sales around here - maybe that is why he is doing more your direction. Around here we also have a few others that will give REALLY good bulk deals BUT they don't do before sales to anyone - they stick with first come, first serve, so if you see it in the pictures, you see it at the sale too. Not saying anything bad about any of this - just other estate sales run differently - that many people are really use to around here . I am really glad he is finding places that take his prices better - it is great for his family he is selling for and I love his shop 😀 Estate sale and their people are the best - I personally think 😀 - I have 4 different companies around here that we will start standing in line at 4am because the deals are so good and they are such great people. We have made personal friends with many of them. Maybe I will see you around town 😀

I lived in Modesto California for the first probably 12 years of,
I’m confused why the prices were not provided??? There’s a story behind this one…
